Children and staff from Kiddi Caru’s Northampton day nursery have been celebrating Harvest Festival whilst helping to support their local veil.
The festivities have been taking place throughout the nursery with activities in each of the playrooms. Each of the nursery’s rooms made scarecrows and the children enjoyed autumnal craft activities using conkers, pine-cones and leaves. The pre-school children also harvested their own food from the nursery garden and enjoyed eating the courgettes, runner beans and carrots
The staff and children have also been collecting tinned donations that will be presented to local food bank, Re-Store Northampton. Cheryl Simpkins, Nursery Manager, explained: “Each year we spend a lot of time celebrating Harvest Festival. It is a real tradition here and the children love it. It is great for them to learn about our customs and their origins and how they impact on their and other lives in the present day. I am always so proud of the children and how they love to give thanks for all they have and share that with others less fortunate than themselves.”
