The children and staff at Kiddi Caru’s Torquay day nursery is supporting the Snowflake Appeal 2014 run by Home-Start – the charity dedicated to supporting families with young children – with a week of snowflake themed fundraising fun.
As well as baking snowflake biscuits throughout the week to sell to members of the public, the children will be decorating snowflakes, printing with doilies, enjoying snow flake ice play, making sparkly play dough and holding a snowflake themed fancy dress party.
holding snowflake fancy dress parties, competing with the other Kiddi Caru day nurseries to see which one can make the biggest snowflake, adorning their classrooms with their very own unique snowflake designs and learning all about why snowflakes are so special.
Snowflake Appeal merchandising such as enamel pin badges, stickers and message cards will also be available to purchase within the nursery.
The Snowflake Appeal, which runs from 1st November to 31st January, is fronted by TV’s Kirstie Allsop and was launched by Home-Start last year. Funds raised by the Snowflake Appeal help to ensure that Home-Start’s volunteers based at 300 centres around the UK have the training and support they need to continue to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children.
David Lord, Nursery Manager, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this year’s Snowflake Appeal. Not only does the campaign raise funds for an extremely worthy cause, but also Home-Start chose this particular theme to emphasise how totally unique and in need of nurturing every child is – a philosophy with which we wholeheartedly agree.
“The children are very excited about having a whole week of Snowflake themed fun, I think they might even be looking forward to it more than the prospect of real snow this year!”
