Yesterday, children from Alphabet House Day Nursery at White Post paid a visit to Maxey’s Farm Shop at Brickfield Farm, Kirklington. The children were greeted by a man made out of vegetables (as pictured) The children had to guess what the man was made from. The children then went inside the farm shop where they could feel the different types of vegetables and walked around looking at the different produce. After this the children spoke about the vegetables, and had a food tasting a session. After being inside the shop the children then ventured outside to find the rhubarb field where they saw how the rhubarb grows, and at the end of the trip the children were then given the choice to choose 3 pieces of fruit to take away with them.

The children had a lovely visit and were all very eager to tell their parents about their visit at the end of the day.

The visit supports work the children have been doing at nursery to find out more about how food is grown and were keen to visit the new farm shop to see and taste vegetables and fruit, as part of their project on healthy eating.
