Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Nursery Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for young children in a nursery setting. This role requires a strong understanding of food safety standards, excellent culinary skills, and the ability to create balanced menus that cater to the dietary needs of children. The Nursery Chef will play a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of our young learners through high-quality meal preparation.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday

09:00 - 14:00

Duties

  • Prepare and cook a variety of healthy meals and snacks suitable for children, ensuring nutritional value and appeal, and following daily menus
  • Prepare and cook high-quality dishes, ensuring consistency in flavour, presentation, and portion sizes.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in all kitchen areas.
  • Manage stock levels and ensure proper storage to minimise waste.
  • Collaborate with nursery staff to accommodate special dietary needs or allergies.
  • Assist in setting up meal times, serving food efficiently, and ensuring children are supervised during eating, supporting with lunch cover.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations diligently during food preparation and service.
  • Keep detailed records of food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and dietary compliance.
  • Work alongside SFBB pack and all guidance provided.

Experience

  • Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a childcare or nursery environment.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience in a kitchen or Nursery.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in hygiene management.
  • Experience working in a kitchen setting with children is desirable: training will be provided.
  • Familiarity with meal planning and catering for specific dietary requirements such as allergies or special diets.
  • Previous experience in restaurant or catering environments is advantageous but not mandatory; a passion for creating nutritious meals is essential.
