Position: Early Years Practitioner (EYFS)

Start Date: March 2026
Contract Type : Full-Time, Permanent (51 weeks per annum)
Working Pattern:
8:30am - 6:00pm (2 days per week)
8:30am - 4:30pm (3 days per week)
(Flexibility required, including the potential to support extracurricular clubs)
Salary: £22,000 - £25,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

Purpose of the Role
The Early Years Practitioner will support the delivery of high-quality care and education within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), working closely with teaching staff to provide a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment for children aged 2 to 4 years.
The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm, energy and a genuine commitment to nurturing young children in accordance with the school’s ethos and values.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching and Learning
Support the planning and delivery of engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences in line with the EYFS statutory framework.
Assist in creating a stimulating classroom environment that promotes exploration and independence.
Contribute to the observation, assessment and recording of children's progress.
Support the smooth organisation and daily routines of nursery life.
2. Key Person Duties
Act as Key Person for an allocated group of children.
Build strong, positive and professional relationships with children and their parents/carers.
Maintain accurate and high-quality learning journeys and development reports.
Share regular updates with parents regarding progress, wellbeing and next steps.
3. Pastoral Care and Behavior Support
Promote children's emotional wellbeing and social development.
Support positive behavior through consistent and age-appropriate strategies.
Provide reassurance and support during transitions or periods of distress.
Attend to children's physical needs, including feeding, changing and supervision of activities, always ensuring dignity and respect.
4. Wider Responsibilities
Work collaboratively as part of the Early Years team and wider school community.
Contribute positively to the ethos and life of the school.
Maintain high standards of professionalism, reliability and flexibility.
Participate in school events and extracurricular provision where required.
Person Specification
Essential:
Full and relevant Level 3 or above Early Years qualification
Pediatric First Aid qualification.
Basic Safeguarding.
Previous experience working with children – Nursery Practitioner, Nursery Nurse, Early Years Educator, Nanny, Childminder or similar
A positive, proactive and flexible attitude.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A genuine passion for working with young children.
Commitment to the ethos and values of Vita et Pax Preparatory School.
Ability to write reports and keep clear and accurate records
Sound understanding of child protection and safeguarding
Desirable
