Currents Preschool began with a simple idea: children deserve a place where they can be fully themselves.

A place where muddy hands, big questions, messy creations and mistakes are all part of the journey. I believe childhood is not something to rush through or tidy away, but a time to explore, experiment and discover.

With a background in early years leadership, nursery management and SEND support, I have created Currents to be the kind of preschool I always imagined: one where children’s voices matter, curiosity is celebrated, and learning grows from their own interests.

Sophie Job Title:Deputy Manager

I have always been fascinated by the reasons behind children’s actions. Rather than asking “how do we stop this?”, I believe in asking “what is this child trying to tell us?”

At nursery, I love getting right into the children's world, whether that means being covered in paint, exploring messy play, running outdoors or singing at the top of my voice alongside them.

I believe children communicate in many different ways, and I love using approaches such as Makaton to help every child find their voice.

Every child has the ability to shine when they are given the right environment, relationships and tools to help them flourish.
