Dunn Street Daycare is located in Dunn Street Primary School in the heart of Jarrow.

The expansion of their nursery provision in September 2025, is part of the national initiative by the Department for Education (DFE) to enhance early years education in the North East and across the country.

They will have spaces for 2-5 year olds and parents will be able to access pre-school childcare every day, all year round.

In September all 2,3 and 4 year olds will have access to funded 15 hours of childcare during term time and working parents will be able to access up to 30 hours of funded childcare during term time.

Funding & Fees

  • Children are eligible to join the nursery from 2 years old. We accept all childcare vouchers and Tax-Free Childcare.


    2 year old childcare places funded for 15 hours are available for families in receipt of certain benefits.


    Universal 15 hour funding is available to all 3 and 4 year olds starting the term after their third birthday.


    Funding for working parents is available for parents who meet the eligibility criteria. Children from 2 years to 5 years can access 30 hours of funded childcare. To find out if you are eligible and apply for the working parents funding you will need to visit the Government website Best Start In Life and apply through your HMRC childcare portal. You will be provided with a code for us to validate. Parents are responsible for renewing their code termly.
