Whitburn Village Primary School now also offers Whitburn Village Daycare, as part of the Department for Education’s national initiative to enhance early years education in the North East and across the country.

The new provision offers places for children aged 2 to 5 in both daycare and school settings. Families will be able to access high-quality childcare from 8am to 6pm, all year round.

From September, all 2-, 3-, and 4-year-olds are entitled to 15 hours of funded childcare during term time, while working parents can access up to 30 funded hours per week.

To further support families, The Willow Tree also offers additional wraparound care and holiday sessions, providing flexible childcare options throughout the year.

Funding & Fees

  • Children are eligible to join the nursery from the September following their second birthday. We accept all childcare vouchers and Tax-Free Childcare.


    Funding for working parents is available for parents who meet the eligibility criteria. To find out if you are eligible and apply for the working parents funding you will need to visit the Government website 'Best Start In Life' and apply through your HMRC childcare portal. You will be provided with a code for us to validate. Parents are responsible for renewing their code termly.


    Two year old funded childcare (15 hours) is available for families in receipt of some benefits.


    15 hour universal funding is available to all 3 and 4 year old children the term after their third birthday.
