Bromsgrove Pre-Preparatory and Nursery School is a place where children have a memorable and positive start to their educational journey. It is the early years, from the ages of two to seven, when the educational foundations are laid for everything that follows. Very young children are curious and enthusiastic; they are learning to learn. Bromsgrove's aim is to harness these qualities in an active, stimulating, happy and secure environment. The School nurtures children into confident, well prepared and highly motivated learners who will go on to achieve the best for themselves. At the same time, Bromsgrove also helps them to develop with good manners, self discipline, honesty and consideration for others, working and playing in a positive and rewarding way. The friendly, secure family atmosphere of the School encourages children to become independent learners and caring members of the Bromsgrove community.

Children may start in the Nursery from their second birthday. The Nursery provides a safe, secure, happy and stimulating environment and is set in its own building, within the grounds of Bromsgrove Pre-Preparatory School. The Nursery also offers 30 free hours through the Government Funding Scheme for eligible 3 and 4 year olds.

My daughter goes to this nursery the key workers are wonderful and she is developing into an independent little girl. I love how they start teaching them the alphabet, counting based on their ability and personalise this to each individual child. Facilities are excellent too. I can highly recommend
the nursery.

Our daughter started in November. She is welcomed every morning. She was a little shy for the first three months. However, due to the understanding and attentive approach of staff, by February She was full of confidence. She has made great leaps forward with phonics, playing with others, and being more
independent.
The classroom and school site are wonderfully presented. The staff can't do enough to ensure our daughter has the best possible experience

A beautiful nursery with the most wonderful staff. Our daughter started in September 24 and it is the best decision we made for her. She has come on so much, her confidence and how excited she is to go to nursery is just lovely to see. Every member of staff even those not directly linked to the nursery
knew her name on the first day and you can clearly see how nurturing and caring they are. The forest school in particular has been incredible ensuring they get out in the fresh air no matter the weather whilst still learning key skills. We are so happy with how she has come on these last 7 months and it's all thanks to the wonderful team at the nursery. Thank you x

This is an absolutely wonderful place. All the staff are so kind and caring and go the extra mile to ensure your child is well cared for. I can't recommend Bromsgrove Pre-Preparatory Nursery enough. The staff are incredibly caring, kind, and always go the extra mile to make parents and children feel at ease. The environment is nothing short of amazing - both inside and outside - with plenty of space for children to explore, play, and
learn. My children absolutely thrived here. They looked forward to going every day and always had so much to talk about when they came home. It's clear to see the huge progress they made, and their confidence grew immensely. The nursery provides a hot meal at lunchtime, which was amazing! I always felt well-informed about my children's day-to-day activities, and I loved how the staff kept me updated. I'm so grateful for this nursery and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nurturing and supportive place for their child to grow and develop.

My child loves going in everyday and the development since starting has been incredible! The care and personalisation that the teachers provide is brilliant.
The staff make such an effort to make sure they know each child individually and understand how they learn to know the best ways to help them

Making the decision to send my children from age 3 to this nursery was the best choice we ever made.
From day 1, all staff they came across knew their names, having remembered them from induction, including staff not directly involved in their care. Within days, staff were very tuned in to their individual
needs and were keen to learn as much as they could about the boys. Every morning you are warmly welcomed at the door by the nursery leader who always takes her time to greet every child & parent. Over time, I noticed my childrens' confidence in greeting adults politely improve massively. It's these small things that really do make this nursery stand out.
Parents are welcome to drop their child into their room and chat with the key worker, you're never made to feel rushed and you get a great sense of how nurturing they are. My boys would run in and quickly make themselves at home! Communication, facilities, activities, food, all 5*. This setting gave our children the best start.

A beautiful preprep where staff go above and beyond to teach, inspire and grow each child individually. We have had 2 children in the preprep and both have absolutely thrived there, academically and socially. We wouldn't send them anywhere else.

All three of my children have attended Bromsgrove Pre preparatory and Nursery, and we couldn't be happier with the experience each of them have had. The stuff are wonderful: caring, professional, passionate, energetic. Facilities within the classroom and playground are brilliant. Seemingly never-ending
wealth of resources between the Nursery free flow classrooms means the children are continually engaged. The nursery playground is extremely well equipped and visits to the on-site forest school are a real highlight of the week.
I cannot recommend Nursery highly enough, it's an absolutely stellar start to a child's school career.

Our son started in nursery aged 2. He is now 3 and continues to enjoy an enriching learning experience in a caring environment.
The nursery staff are exceptionally talented. They are consistently developing new activities to engage the children in informal education.
We feel confident about leaving
our son in nursery's care.
We are fully supported by the nursery staff. The head of nursery is compassionate and attentive.
We feel lucky that our daughter (now aged 5) and son have had their early years fostered in such a well-rounded setting.

My daughter started the nursery in September 2024, within the 7 months to date her confidence, social skills and speech have grown so much!
She has made some really good friends within the nursery and their little connections are so beautiful to see.
All the teachers are so wonderful, warm and friendly.
They all have time to talk to parents when needed and support the children so well. They really know my daughter very well. We are very excited to watch and support our daughter continue to grow here.

We have had two children at Bromsgrove Pre-preparatory Nursery school, one who is now about to leave Year 2 and the other in rising 5's, both having been with the Nursery since they were 2.
I cannot recommend the nursery environment enough, from their pastoral support to enabling the children to flourish
academically all whilst in a hugely caring, family environment is something you very rarely see at EYFS.
The staff retention is high, which in our case, has meant the same key workers supporting both my children over the last 5 years, and any new staff joining continue to be the same high calibre, caring individuals who clearly enjoy seeing your child develop. The leadership within the nursey is clearly outstanding, and mirrors the ethos of the who pre-prep school.

Bromsgrove Pre-Prep is a truly wonderful school. Our son commenced in the last year of the nursery and within just a few months he has developed leaps and bounds. He has thrived in a kind, caring and nurturing environment, his language skills and confidence have developed in a short time which I think
is testament to the committed teaching staff and the learning environment. The forest school and the outdoor/indoor spaces have been a wonderful opportunity for balancing exploring, learning and having fun.
Our son is really happy at school. He really enjoys learning each day and seeing his friends and teachers.
The school staff are supportive of the family as a whole and encourage families to be involved in their child's home work and learning, particularly around phonics and navigating around the learning app.
This is a very welcoming school and I would recommend any parent to visit for an open day.

Excellent staff and facilities!
Since we started our daughter at the nursery, we have only had good things to say about the experience. The teachers go above and beyond to make the children and parents happy and comfortable. The updates are lovely, seeing what the children have been up to and we love

I cannot recommend Bromsgrove Pre-Preparatory and Nursery enough, having attended a day nursery prior to starting, I believed that my child was being properly looked after and was flourishing, when in actual fact he was massively unhappy there. He started at Bromsgrove in September 2024, and now he
is excited to see everyone and regularly runs into nursery ahead of me, he's pulling his coat off as he walks in through the door. All of the teachers and staff know him and welcome him in to nursery in the morning which is lovely.
The setting is wonderful and there is a huge outdoor space for him to explore and enjoy along with forest school which he really enjoys.
He eats well and even though I cook properly for him at home, I know he's getting a proper meal at school as well, which is prepared on-site and not something bought in from an external provider.
You are also eligible for the free childcare hours and tax-free child care at Bromsgrove which is fantastic.

Jo Townsend

Job Title: Head of Early Years (EYFS) Joined: 2014

Jo Townsend is a qualified Primary School Teacher from Solihull and has been working in early years settings and schools for seventeen years. She completed her degree and PGCE at the University of Leeds and has since taught in three different Primary Schools. Jo has managed the Early Years Department (Nursery and Reception) at Bromsgrove School for six years and contributed to three ‘Excellent’ ISI inspections.


Jo believes that a nursery experience should offer a child independence and confidence. Ensuring the best start for each child is paramount for her, and leading a team to deliver the experience a child deserves and will never forget is something she prides herself on. Providing an outstanding environment and early years education for the children, as well as ensuring the parent partnership is exemplary, is also a key part of her role.

Kerri Tilsley

Kerri Tilsley has worked at Bromsgrove Pre-Prep since 2007, having studied childcare, and achieving her NVQ level 3. She started at Bromsgrove as a Nursery Keyworker and is now one of the Deputies. Kerri says that it is a pleasure to watch children grow and develop over many years.
