  • Innsworth Preschool, Gloucester
Innsworth Preschool has been part of the Gloucester community for more than 30 years, providing children aged two to four with a safe, caring and inspiring start to early education.

Family owned and proudly independent, the preschool offers a warm and welcoming environment built around the values that matter most to parents: care, trust, stability and personal attention. As a smaller setting, it provides a calmer and more personal alternative to larger nurseries, where every child is known, valued and supported as an individual.

Children benefit from a large, well equipped outdoor space and daily opportunities for fresh air, play and exploration in a secure environment. A key feature of the setting is its famous Farm Experience outdoor classroom, a unique learning environment designed to make learning exciting, hands on and memorable. With animals, a greenhouse, growing areas and seasonal outdoor activities, children enjoy experiences that very few early years settings are able to offer. This helps them build confidence, curiosity, practical skills, responsibility and a strong connection to the natural world.

Experienced and qualified staff focus on helping children develop the social, emotional and early learning skills needed for a smooth transition into school. The preschool offers morning and afternoon funded sessions, optional meals and enhancement clubs, giving families flexibility and children access to a broader preschool experience. Innsworth Preschool also offers a New Starters Service for children aged two and for children joining an early years setting for the first time, helping to create a gentler and more settled transition into preschool life.

With a strong family ethos and more than 30 years serving the local community, Innsworth Preschool is a place where children can feel happy, secure and ready to thrive.

I am so grateful to the staff at this nursery. My great, granddaughter was very tearful and clingy to myself. Now with the staff's commitment and hard work she gets in with a smile and a wave. This nursery is absolutely amazing with wonderful caring staff. The app is also a fantastic way to see what
your child has been up to.

My little Boy started at Innsworth pre school in September 2025. He absolutely loves it and seems to be learning a great deal. The staff are all very lovely, and Des goes out of her way to help where possible. It's lovely to have a setting where the children are put first. They have had lots of work
done recently, both inside and outside, and it is all looking lovely.

Where do I even begin? Innsworth Pre-School has been absolutely fantastic. Since our son started in August 2024, we've been so impressed with how well he has settled and how much he looks forward to going each day. The regular updates, photos, and messages mean so much to us as parents-we really feel
nvolved in his day and can see just how much care and attention he receives.
In such a short space of time, the progress he has made has been incredible. His vocabulary has grown, his confidence has blossomed, and he absolutely loves the engaging activities and play opportunities offered. It's clear that the staff put their heart into creating a warm, stimulating, and supportive environment.
Thank you to the entire team for being so wonderful. We couldn't be happier with our experience, and we're truly grateful for everything you do.

Just one suggestion- may be a buggie parking area outside building would be amazing.

I have sent all 6 of my children to this preschool over the last 18 years. I would not dream of sending them anywhere else. They are like family. The changes you have made over the years have been tremendous. I am heartbroken my last child will be leaving here soon. The support I have received has been
over and above. Des is the best.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.050)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.050) out of 10 for Innsworth Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.717 for Innsworth Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.717
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.333 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Innsworth Preschool is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 number of registered child places is 6. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.833
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
