Osmaston Day Nursery is located in the heart of the community and is a warm, welcoming, purpose-built setting, open 51 weeks of the year. Based within the local Family Hub, the nursery places community at the centre of everything it does, recognising that it truly takes a village to raise a child. Close partnerships with parents and carers support every child to have the very best start in life.

Osmaston Day Nursery is proud to have been recognised as Strong in all Areas in its very first Ofsted inspection (February 2026). This outcome reflects the high-quality care, consistency and commitment of the staff team, alongside the strong relationships built with families. Ofsted highlighted that children thrive in the setting, experience genuine care and kindness, and develop into confident communicators.

The nursery provides high-quality childcare and early education for children aged 0-5 years and accepts all government funding for children’s places.

A safe and nurturing environment supports every child to confidently explore, learn and grow, with experiences tailored to individual needs. Children are encouraged to develop confidence, curiosity and independence, enabling them to reach their full potential.

Most importantly, the Ofsted report reflects daily life within the setting - children who feel safe, valued and excited to learn.

Choosing a nursery for my little boy was a very hard decision because he has additional health needs. When I went for a show round here I was instantly sold because of how small the rooms were so the staff had so much more time to focus on individuals as well as groups (other nurseries had a lot of
space which meant a lot of children). My little boy started Sept 2025 and between then and now has made such great progress with his confidence, independence, speech, development and separation from me! He has had 2 complex health episodes since being at nursery, the staff (incl the lovely manager) have gone out of their way to go to the hospital for training on his needs, medication and have got all the information they need to support him in the best possible way. It really is so lovely to see how caring all of the staff are with not only my boy but all the other children at drop offs and pick ups! I wouldn't choose anywhere else for my boy to be! Thank you!

Our daughter loves being at nursery and all the staff are very skilled. The staff care so very much about the development of our daughter and this shows in the regular updates and detailed feedback that we get. We have noticed our daughter's confidence, walking and language skills improve since attending
nursery. We are always impressed with the range of activities offered and that fun is a priority! Trusting others to care for your child is always tricky but any worries we've had have been validated and we have felt reassured. We are very grateful that our daughter is treated as the special little girl that we think she is. Her key worker Shania has been brilliant at building trust with our daughter and she is always a friendly face with time to share personalised updates.

Lovely happy welcoming from manager to all other staff, and always happy for a chat and discuss any concerns we may have. Members of staff always go above and beyond for the children. Nursery is always bright with displays of the things they aim towards for the children. Communication between key worker
is always amazing and again there to listen with any concerns or worries about things. Children always come out clean. Also kept up to date while child is there through the family app as well.

A wonderful nursery with kind, caring and professional staff. When our daughter went through a phase of not wanting to attend, the team were incredibly patient, supportive and helpful, which made a huge difference. She is now happy and settled again. The environment is safe and welcoming, and communication
with parents is excellent. Highly recommended.

The women here are amazing with the children. Even though my son is a handful with his emotions they really do settle him down. They keep me updated about my child through out the day which is amazing as i know there's so many children in their care.

My daughter has been at this nursery the staff have been amazing settling her in from when she started. My daughter joined in a dance group and the nursery staff were amazing to develop her interest in dance and giving her the time to show them what she is learning and growth with this. My daughter
loves going to nursery every day she goes they have a wide range of activities. Painting arts and crafts outdoor play physical activities local walks parent partnerships. My daughter has grown so much and is so making friendship groups has a really good relationships with all staff has an amazing friendly environment. They give really good handover of what my daughter has done daily what they have learnt what next steps can be to support her and how to extent their learning or best interests I cannot thank them enough and she's been with them for over a year and will be sadly moving on too school in September.

Our child has had an incredibly positive experience at this nursery, and as parents, we couldn't be more grateful. The staff have been consistently kind, professional, and attentive-not just to our child, but also to the specific needs and requests of our family. Their support has given us complete
peace of mind and made the entire journey worry free.
From the moment we joined, they've gone above and beyond to provide a nurturing environment. Every interaction reflected their genuine care and unwavering commitment to doing their best. We've felt reassured knowing our child was in capable hands, growing and thriving under their guidance.
The kindness and dedication of the staff will be deeply missed. We'll always remember the thoughtful care they provided, it's made a lasting impression.

My daughter has attended the nursery for 4 months now and it is great to see how she went from being a timid and shy girl to one who is running eagerly into nursery when the doors open and even asking to go in during weekends. This is all thanks to the lovely staff who are always patient, upbeat and
encouraging with my daughter. The staff also takes time to provide regular updates and makes time for discussions about my daughter's progress and works with me as a parent to identify where more focus on certain development areas is needed. I am glad to have found this nursery for my daughter and would definitely recommend this nursery to others!

I am deaf and a British Sign Language user. The nursery had been great and very supportive. Made me feel more comfortable. Welll impressed how they deal with my son due to his issues. I would recommend anyone to this nursery especially for deaf people as they have many ways to communicate via face-to-face
or messages on app.

It's the first month of my son's attendance and so far it's been a positive experience.
He's had a challenge adjusting to not being at home and the staff have been great with supporting him, especially his key person. The nursery keeps us well informed and we sometimes even get pictures of our son
playing and smiling. We have no concerns so far.

I am very pleased with the patience of my daughter's teachers. Because she is more shy, they try to get her out of her state and to express herself even better. She discovered a lot of things since coming to kindergarten.

My daughter has been going to this nursery since she was nearly 2 years old, she loves the staff and friends here.
She has learnt a lot since being here and the staff liaise with me on how her day has been whilst at nursery.
My daughter has also been doing the REAL project with the nursery, which
helps with bonding with the teachers in a different environment which I think is a great idea.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.968) out of 10 for Osmaston Day Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.968 for Osmaston Day Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (300 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 310 Ratings = 4.968
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Osmaston Day Nursery is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 44 number of registered child places is 8.8, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
