Busy Bees at Midlothian Hopefield Castle is a very special setting, located in a 17th-century castle, the nursery offers a whimsical environment complete with 1.5 acres of secure grounds. Previously Hopefield Castle Nursery, Busy Bees are very proud to welcome the setting to its repertoire.

The team of early years educators at the nursery are fully qualified, passionate and specialise in their chosen area. To ensure children get the very best from the team, Busy Bees supports their staff in professional development as well as further training and education; a happy team is key to happy children.

Inside the nursery you'll find a free flow system, allowing children to decide where they want to spend their time, promoting independence and confidence. Rooms are spacious and children also benefit from an outdoor area with resources designed for every age group.

As if the extensive grounds weren't enough, the nursery is also within walking distance to many local parks and amenities, ensuring children have the opportunity to get involved in the local community. There truly is never a dull day at this wonderful nursery.

My daughter has been at Hopefield since she was 2yrs old. She loves going to nursery and the staff have been wonderful. She has so much fun every day and the variety of food she gets is fantastic. I know she will miss everyone including her besties as she leaves for school this year, but I have doubts
BB Hopefield have prepared her as best they can for this transition. Thank you so much for all you've done for my little lady

The main comment is our child seems very happy at nursery, and we have seen a big difference in her learning and confidence. We appreciate the help with her attachment issue with her teddy which she is getting better with. We feel, and so does her key worker that she is ready for school, so thanks for
your help with this.

I have used this nursery for my son & daughter & wouldn't use any other private nursery. Its great to see that some of the staff have remained throughout that period of everyone tries their best. The garden is fantastic & my children have loved their time here.

I became the Centre Director of Hopefield Castle in August 2024 after transferring from another Busy Bees centre. I have worked in childcare for 14 years and began as a student at 16 years old. I love involving the children in risky play and creating interesting environments.

I have over 25 years of experience working with children and have worked as a Manager in 3 different nurseries. After gaining my NC & HNC in Childcare and Education, I travelled overseas to work as a children's club manager. After returning to the UK, I moved into private nurseries and gained my PDA8 in Childcare and am now PDA Level 9 (Leadership and Management) qualified. I love the outdoors and have qualified as a Forest Kindergarten Leader.


I also enjoy craft activities, cooking and baking.
