Norbury Hill Cubs has been welcoming families since 2007, creating a stimulating environment where children develop the physical, emotional, and intellectual confidence essential for their future. The nursery makes learning an adventure filled with love and care, offering parents genuine peace of mind.

The setting provides more than just childcare – it's a family community offering a home-like environment where children thrive. The nursery takes pride in its strong parent community and dedicated staff who demonstrate exceptional commitment through low turnover rates and staff awards.

The nursery's ethos revolves around four key themes: Grow, Explore, Develop, and Celebrate. The curriculum fosters holistic development, ensuring children flourish emotionally and socially. The team embraces diversity by celebrating special occasions including Chinese New Year, Halloween, Eid, Diwali, and Black History Month.

Regular excursions to local treasures such as Streatham Common, Crystal Palace Park, and Norbury Park enhance children's curiosity and community connection. The online system provides parents with individual logins to access daily pictures, weekly menus, and detailed insights into their child's progress.

Through scaffolding methods, the team tailors their approach to each child's unique abilities, promoting a supportive learning environment. The nursery encourages values of respect, inspiring children to form relationships that transcend differences in race, gender, abilities, and cultures while continuously striving for excellence in early childhood education.

Our fees include all meals, snacks, and educational activities. Parents provide nappies, wipes, and creams.


GOVERNMENT FUNDED HOURS: Completely free of charge (£0.00) - no hidden costs or top-up fees.


OPTIONAL ENRICHMENT CLASSES:
- Music: £7.25 per class
- Dance: £7.00 per class
- Yoga: £7.00 per class

Norbury Hill Cubs is a home from home for our son and the other little ones that attend. It's warm, welcoming and great fun.
It's clear how much the staff care - they go above and beyond to give the babies and kiddos the best possible start. Our son has a great time while also learning a lot and making
friends.

NHC truly feels like a family. There is such a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff are incredibly caring and attentive to every child. The food is nutritious and freshly homemade, which the children clearly enjoy each day. We receive regular updates through the Baby Days app and the parents'
messaging group, giving us reassurance and a lovely insight into how much the children are enjoying their time. All activities are thoughtfully planned in line with the curriculum, encouraging every child to explore, learn, and express their creativity.

My daughter join NHC in April 2025 as it was recommended to me by a relative. Two nephews attended NHC from babies up until they left for school. Every morning when we approach the front door, she just runs right in and doesnt even look back! She goes in with a smile on her face and leave with a smile
on her face. For me this speaks volumes.
One particular thing I really do love about NHC is I get to see what she is eating, not just a report word of mouth, but I see picture and videos of the chef & manager cooking, serving and of the children enjoying their meal times. I feel really reassured that her meals are well balanced and most importantly FRESH! not pre-made or pre-packaged which is exactly how we do things at home. The team is lovely and approachable. The vibe is very much "one very large extended family" which is a great energy for the children which is probably why my daughter is so happy there. Highly recommend NHC!!

Choosing a nursery is a big step, but NHC made it so easy. The staff feel like an extension of the family-they are so friendly, welcoming & professional. Most importantly, my son is absolutely thriving and he absolutely loves his nursery days. He is always so happy to go in, and he comes home having
learned so much. It gives us such peace of mind knowing he's in such a nurturing and educational environment. We really couldn't recommend NHS highly enough.

The NHC community is truly a family. The children all engage with each other regardless of age which is incredible for their emotional intelligence and development. The staff choose to spend time with each other and families outside of work hours. The food is all home cooked, nutritious and delicious.
There's a curriculum for all ages which is educational and fun. There's no better place to send your child.

I have been bowled over by the staff's genuine passion, unique activities and community spirit at NHC. As a first-time mum, I wasn't sure how the Nursery-Parent relationship would work but its a truly special bond at NHC, you feel you can ask Sara anything and she responds with warmth, reassurance and
at impressive speed.
My son settled at NHC very quickly and loves going each day. We get regular updates throughout the day to see the activities he gets up, development milestone updates, how long he has napped and what homemade food he has eaten that day. The staff are incredible and my son has made great relationships with them.
I couldn't be happier with NHC, I'm so thankful our friend suggested we take a tour.

As a first-time mum, I was incredibly nervous about sending my son to nursery especially with so many worrying stories and videos circulating online. But from the moment we started in January 2025, just before he turned two, I have been completely reassured. My son has grown so much since joining. He
has really come out of his shell, and every day I see him becoming more his own little person. What I once feared has turned out to be one of the best decisions we've made as a family. This nursery truly feels like a community more like an extension of family. My son gets to also experience the world beyond the classroom. The staff and management are Amazing! patient, supportive, and passionate about what they do. My son is truly happy! here, and I can say with complete confidence that my heart is at peace every time I leave him in their care. Finding the right nursery for our daughter was one of the most challenging and emotional experiences we've had as parents. Sounds dramatic, but honestly, the search process felt endless and honestly quite demoralising at times - we just wanted somewhere that truly felt right.
The moment we walked into
Norbury Hill Cubs, we knew we'd found it. There was an immediate sense of warmth, care and genuine passion that set it apart. We just felt at ease. Sara the nursery manager/owner is deeply committed and clearly cares for every single child as if they were her own. Like she is scarily obsessed with all the children having the best experience. From the first meeting, both she and the the rest of the amazing staff made us feel completely reassured - their professionalism and kindness shine through in everything they do.
It's only been a month, but the change in our daughter has been incredible. She's already made friends, comes home proudly showing off her artwork, and when we pick her up

My son, Casper, has been attending this nursery since he was 11 months old, and I cannot praise it enough. The care and teaching are exceptional, and he absolutely loves it. He has formed some wonderful friendships, and the staff consistently go above and beyond to make his experience enriching and
fun.
The nursery regularly organises visits to farms, museums, and even Christmas plays, creating fantastic opportunities for learning and bringing everyone together. Now that Casper is 4, I feel that the nursery has truly prepared him for the next stage of his education. He is bright, confident, and excited to learn.
I would highly recommend this nursery to any parent looking for a nurturing and stimulating environment.

I would recommend Norbury Hill Cubs to any parent in the area. My daughter went there from the age of 12 months old until she started school this September. We are so grateful for the genuine love, kidness and care with which she was looked after! She had such a happy time at NHC, learning every day
through a variety of fun activities and enjoying fantastic home cooked healthy meals. It is a small, family owned and run business, and the team do put everything into making this a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment for children to learn and thrive in. During her time at NHC, I watched my daughter grow and steadily develop intellectually and physically, build her confidence and make strong friendships with other children she is still in touch with.

We feel incredibly lucky to have found NHC. Our daughter has started there in the last few months but even before the formal settling sessions we were invited into the NHC community to get to know the team and space and for them to get to know us. When it came to actually handing my daughter into their
care it felt like I'd known them for years and completely trusted them to look after her as I would.
The nursery space is homely, and the lovely staff are warm and incredibly dedicated to the children - regularly going above and beyond with extra training etc. So much energy, love and attention goes into everything from the healthy menu to the monthly birthday parties and Christmas show.
My daughter loves going to nursery and I can't recommend NHC highly enough.

Norbury Hill Cubs was the best recommendation/choice we had for our daughter who attend from the age of 18months to 4 years of age.
She was developed physically, emotionally and mentally with the level of care any parent would appreciate.
Her development was never compared but always treated as an
individual where progress was about her and not the nursey.
The extra mile the staff go to upskill themselves to ensure they are aligned with current policy / education and safe guarding is shared and apparent with constant open communication and via my daughter.
Would recommend any parent to join NHC

I want to share my impressions of the kindergarten, my child has been attending it for 1.5 years, and I am very satisfied!
My son goes to kindergarten with pleasure. It is clear that the teachers really know how to find an approach to each child individually, regardless of the age of the children,
they create a friendly atmosphere where everyone feels special and has a place.
It is very nice that the kindergarten pays attention not only to educational aspects, but also to the emotional comfort of children. Kindness, care and sincerity reign here. I am calm for my son, knowing that he is in good hands.

Norbury Hill Cubs is like an extended family. We felt really anxious with the prospect of leaving our little boy in someone else's care and spent months touring nurseries and day cares all around our area. The search stopped once we met Sara and her wonderful team at NHC. Our son has the best time and
settled in immediately. The communication has been key and his development has exceeded any expectations we had. It felt like we dropped our tiny bundle off and a week later had a happy, walking talking little human. We've had the joy of watching him create bonds with all the teachers and we know he is loved and cared for in the same way we would at home. We had extra concerns as he has a severe allergy but there was no need, we've been shown reports, research and risk assessments focused on his specific allergy AND the food is incredible. They are always striving to learn and better the environment which is what every parent wants. Would recommend 100%.

Best decision I have made! My son started in January 2025, having just turned one. NaturalIy I was very anxious, 10 months on, I can honestly say there is NO better place for him than Norbury Hill Cubs.
From the settling in period, the support from Sara, allowed me to feel confident he would be in
safe hands. The environment is clean, the resources are fantastic, the food is healthy and nutritious but the staff are phenomenal. The care, love and the commitment to the children is amazing! I see this each day with his excitement to attend.
Staff commit to their ongoing training and the ethos of extended family is felt through what they do. Seeing my son enjoying his experience through daily photos, emphasis on learning through play, inclusivity for children and parents and weekend trips has all enabled us to bond and build on the relationships the children have with their friends and staff. Feeding, sleeping and behaviour support are part of the package too.

I can't sing the praises of Norbury Hill Cubs enough! My daughter started here in May after being with a childminder and she has flourished! I felt she would benefit from a larger setting with more children and she definitely has. Sara and her amazing team are so kind and caring towards my daughter.
They are so inclusive and plan a whole host of events and activities encouraging the parents to come together and form a community. They are constantly reviewing and improving their offer while increasing the training of the team and are clearly committed to operating at the highest standard. To put it this way, last Monday morning when I went in to my daughter's room to say good morning, the first thing she said to me was she was excited to be going to nursery! You can't do better than that! Many thanks to the amazing NHC Team for all your hard work and dedication!

Norbury Hill Cubs Nursery is everything we could imagine and more. Our son joined over a year ago (at 1y) we have been so pleased and proud to be part of such a wonderful community and for him to have such an amazing experience day in and out. The team are so supportive, take part in continuous CPD
and extra training eg. NELI scheme. They do everything with such passion to ensure the children have fun and exposure to learning directly and indirectly, variety of fresh home cooked food, extra classes such as dance, yoga, local visits eg the park or library in groups, celebrations for Holi, Diwali, Eid, endless enriching experiences with NHC family! The team and values at NHC made the transition feel so natural and instant! We recieve regular daily updates and photos and can reach out any time, 2 parents meetings and year, opportunities to join in with celebrations such as monthly birthday celebrations for children, sports day, Christmas, annual group days out (with families.

I cannot praise Norbury Hill Cubs enough-there is simply no other nursery like this in the world. The staff have a true passion for working with children and take an incredible, independent approach to each child. They are patient and allow children to grow and learn at their own pace.
My son has flourished
since starting here. He went from being a very shy and quiet boy to a confident and open child who is excited to participate and express himself. He even learned English at the nursery with no help from us, as we speak a different language at home. I also have a 3-month-old at home, and if we weren't moving abroad, I wouldn't even consider another place for his care.
The staff also organise so many wonderful activities, from trips to parks, forests, libraries, and bus rides to even shopping trips. There's always something engaging and exciting planned for the children.

My daughter started with Norbury Hill Cubs in May 2024 and she absolutely loves it. She was in a different nursery prior to this and was neglected so I had to move her. I'm so glad I did. There is a massive difference in her behaviour when I pick her up. At the old nursery, she was quiet and didn't
seem happy. At Norbury Hill Cubs, she is happy, singing in the car on the way home. Sometimes she cries because she doesn't want to come home. I am so glad I moved her. She has learned so much there. The manager is amazing, she goes above and beyond for the children. She organises lots of fun activities and the children expand their taste buds with a variety of foods served at meal times. The staff are warm and friendly. You are kept up to date with daily pictures on the app and parents' messaging group. Thank you to the manager and Norbury Hill Cubs team.

Sara Rafique is the Manager and founder of Norbury Hill Cubs, bringing a unique and diverse background to early years education. Her career began at the Wall Street Journal, underpinned by degrees in History and Politics as well as Law, before she discovered her true passion in early childhood education and obtained her Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS).


Sara's journey in her early years began in 2007 as a childminder, and by 2009, she transformed the home she grew up in into Norbury Hill Cubs nursery – creating a space filled with personal warmth and genuine care. For over 18 years, she has been dedicated to working with young children, driven by a deep commitment to their development and well-being.


Her approach to early years education is strongly influenced by Reggio Emilia and Montessori theories, which she weaves throughout the nursery's practice. Sara is passionate about ensuring every child experiences the nursery's core ethos of Grow, Explore, Develop, and Celebrate, believing that each child deserves an environment where they can flourish emotionally, socially, and intellectually while being truly seen and valued as an individual.
