LEYF's new purpose-built LEYF nursery will be opening in early 2023. This will be their second nursery in Greenwich and is particularly special as this is the first time they are designing and building a LEYF nursery from scratch.

The nursery has been custom designed in line with LEYF's core design and sustainability principles and will have places for 74 children across three rooms (babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers). The nurturing garden will present new opportunities for outdoor learning for the children, and the purpose-built kitchen will provide healthy, nutritious meals and snacks daily.

LEYF is partnering with landlords Peabody and their community foundation team to open their doors to enrich children’s learning in Thamesmead.

Thames Reach nursery is a very welcoming and homey nursery, from the staff to the reception everyone welcomes you with a smile and they don't make any of your concerns seem too silly. Everything you judge to be important they make it a priority. Ever since my son joined the nursery, he's been developing
very well. At the moment that my son joined, he was around 12 months. At that stage, it was a struggle for me to put him to sleep in his cot by himself; all he wanted was to sleep next to mummy. Even if I tried to move him in the middle of the night, he would wake up and cry till I moved him back in my bed. Being a new mum and a single mum, it was quite hard to be consistent with this.

However, 2/3 weeks after joining my son has been able to sleep in his cot during the WHOLE night, once bedtime reaches. NO MORE late night struggles for me. I now sleep WELL and COMFORTABLY in my own bed.

We moved both of our children to this nursery in Jan 2024 when the one they were attending closed suddenly. This is an excellent nursery and our children love it here. The staff are very attentive to the children and it is always a fun support environment. You can tell the children are loved. The environment
is always clean and the food menu and snacks are healthy. We are very happy our children attend leyf in thamesmead

My daughter moved here from another local nursery, and I couldn't be happier with the decision. LEYF has created an excellent environment and learning centre for nurturing young minds. The staff have been consistently receptive and cooperative. I always feel confident that my daughter is in a safe and
happy place. She has enjoyed every day at this nursery. I only wish she could spend more time here. Both the Nursery Manager and her Deputy have brought together an outstanding team to provide exceptional services.

A brand new nursery with excellent and up-to-date play and teaching equipment and very responsive staff. The nursery manager communicates well with parents and is open to suggestions. The staff communicate well through an app throughout the day as well as in person at the start and end of each day.
My child enjoys spending time in the nursery. We were able to successfully transition our child from part-time to full-time attendance with the full support of the staff.

As with any new nursery openings, there were initially some teething challenges in spring this year which were smoothed out. The fact that this nursery is part of an award-winning London Early Years Foundation network of nurseries gives extra reassurance in terms of quality of care, teaching and HQ policies, quality assurance and support for the nursery team.

The best nursery in the Thamesmead/Abbey Wood/Plumstead area by far. We spent a lot of time looking at nurseries for our son (we looked at over 8 in Thamesmead and Abbey Wood) and Thames Reach had the best facilities but most importantly the most attentive and experienced staff. It was also the same
price as all the others which really surprised me given how impressive the nursery is. The food is also exceptional. They feed them such a good variety of things and it is always fresh and healthy.

Our son moved from a nursery in another location that he had attended for nearly two years so it was a big move but he has settled in so quickly and now absolutely loves going. So much so that he often doesn’t want to come home! I trust all the staff and have only positive things to say about them all. I really feel like they are preparing him for school and they know each child individually.

Overall I would recommend the nursery to everyone.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.374)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.374) out of 10 for Thames Reach Nursery & Pre-School is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.729 for Thames Reach Nursery & Pre-School is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.729
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.645 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thames Reach Nursery & Pre-School is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 74 number of registered child places is 14.8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.8 = 0.27
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
