Kids Planet Chris Abell Nursery

It has been amazing to watch my daughter flourish and build such lovely relationships with the staff. I would wholeheartedly recommend this nursery to any parent - they are truly fantastic!

We have been very happy with the care our little girl has received at Chris Abell as well as the staff's responsiveness to her needs and professionalism. She settled much more quickly than we expected and has already gained so much from being there in terms of her social skills and language development.

Our son recently started at Chris Abell preschool, having relocated from another nursery. It's been brilliant. Everyone has been so welcoming, and they are just fabulous with the children. Taking them on day trips, teaching them new things, he's loved it. We are so grateful to the whole preschool team.

We were excited to join Chris Abell Nursery due to its Outstanding Ofsted rating, but we have experienced serious safeguarding concerns that management has not addressed. Our daughter joined the baby room at 8 months and is now 11 months. Since joining, she has repeatedly experienced rough behaviour from an older, stronger child who remains in the baby room, reportedly due to staffing issues. As a result, she has frequent bumps from being pushed or poked.

We have raised this with management several times, but despite repeated reassurances, nothing has changed and the risk continues. The room staff are caring and our daughter is happy with them, but her experience is overshadowed by the ongoing safety concerns caused by inappropriate age-mixing. We have now submitted a formal complaint and are contacting Ofsted while awaiting a response from the nursery.

My son absolutely adores coming into nursery every day. The staff is very attentive and caring and the facilities and resources available are lovely. Very happy with the nursery and highly recommend.

Amazing bunch of people! My daughter is always happy and enjoys the daily activities. I like the fact that they do plenty of trips outside the nursery and learn many new things. As a bonus, she comes home with beautiful hairstyles! Thank you!

Highly recommend this nursery. Staff are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond. Our daughter is so happy and content there due to the caring nature of the staff and the personalised and nurturing care she receives.

We joined the Chris Abell nursery in Jan 2025 when my son was 8mo and moved my daughter who was just 3 at the time too. They both settled in no time and are thriving at the nursery, thanks to the brilliant care given to them by the staff. The staff are warm, welcoming and show a huge amount of care for our children and focus on their development, with daily updates on activities they enjoy doing and regular assessments of their development. They put a lot of effort into planning creative activities for all ages including fun day trips with the preschool group. Other examples include encouraging families to share photos/details on family culture to get to know our children better, a bowl of fruit at the entrance of the nursery and tea and coffee for the parents. These are only a few examples of the way in which they make everyone feel happy!

I have been really satisfied with the nursery and my baby seems to be happy too. In several occasions the stuff went beyond my expectation in terms of how invested they are in the wellbeing and development of my baby. I appreciate that each day a different activity is provided on top of the regular ones and that children are encouraged to explore without worrying that the activity is messy. I like the attention the nursery puts on diversity and to make sure it is celebrated. Recently the nursery has also started a new activity I really like: they provide suggestions and material to do things at home with the children. For example today there was the option to pick up everything needed to make a simple bird feeder and a list of birds to spot with your children.

Our children have attended Chris Abell since Jan '24 in the baby & preschool rooms, where both were made to feel welcome and settled in quickly. The staff are friendly, attentive and very caring. Our children have really bonded with their key workers and I have always felt reassured. The new, purpose-built building is ideal with connecting outdoor spaces so our children to play together, which they love! Preschool outings (train, bus, botanical gardens) are hugely enriching. CAN now appears well managed and all staff (chef, cleaners) seem content; there has been little turnover in our 1.5yrs there. The preschool environment can feel a bit 'genderised' (we hear comments about girls' outfits, hairstyles, princesses); whilst this may be child-led, we do hope that kids are encourage to play, dream and dress however they want without reinforcing stereotypes that might limit their potential. Overall CAN compares favourably to other nurseries and we're very happy, well done to all staff.

The best nursery I have ever been to! From the moment you walk in, you can feel how much the staff truly care about the children. The manager is amazing - always approachable, supportive, and deeply involved in everything that happens in the nursery. The teachers are kind, patient, and genuinely listen to each child, making sure everyone feels safe, happy, and included. The atmosphere is positive, full of warmth and creativity. The learning program is excellent, combining play and education in such a thoughtful way. I couldn't ask for a better place for my child to grow and learn.

My child has been at Kids Planet for over a year and they have all been lovely and helped shape my little one into a curious, confident and happy toddler. Can't fault any of the staff and many of them really go the extra mile to help. Communication via phone and app also very good.

While fees are expensive this is not specific to KP and is rather a UK wide problem.

We have been using this nursery for the last three years. The staff in the room are so kind and caring and my children have thrived. There is always lots of outdoor play, messy play and pre-school go on lots of trips.

In the first couple of years there was a lot of change in senior management but it now feels much more settled - and there are many initiatives that are provided (clothes swap, mini library, fruit to take home, tea and coffee for parents, tooth care kits etc).

I would highly recommend if you're looking for a nursery in the city centre (ideally there would be a more natural play area, but options are very limited in the centre).

Chris Abell is an incredibly warm and welcoming environment for both the children and the parents. The team in both the baby room and tots have been brilliant at settling my daughter and making her feel confident and secure. They have great facilities and always do a range of activities each day to keep the little ones busy and actively learning. I particularly love the emphasis on outside play which I know really benefits my daughter. My daughter is always happy and busy playing when I arrive to collect her - and sometimes doesn't want to leave yet!

Our little girl has thrived at Chris Abell since she started in January 2025. It took a few months of really consistent, loving and patient care from her key workers and the others in the room as she settled - she was definitely a velcro baby for a while - but now she toddles in independently and happily, and shares the songs she has been learning by singing and babbling all the way home. Having used other settings for our other two children we particulalry appreciate the consistency in staffing, the cheery and warm atmosphere that the team cultivate, and the efficient and consistent communication. We get photos every single day showing us what she has been doing, and it is clear that the staff genuinely enjoy their work and the company of the babies they care for. We are completely happy with the nursery - they are doing a truly outstanding job.

We are very pleased with the nursery, incl. both staff and facilities. Our toddler is happy to be dropped off each morning, which makes us assured about the focus on children's wellbeing.

There is an in-house chef, and based on the menu each day, I trust that they serve diverse, healthy and nutritious food.

Our little one absolutely loves the baby room. She is happy to go in every morning and the staff there are so kind and clearly really love taking care of the babies. She gets healthy meals and fun activities to do everyday and we get regular updates on the app to show us what she has been up to. The admin team are not great at replying promptly to emails but are fantastic when you ask questions face to face at the main reception.

Everyone is really helpful and always listens to parents requests and questions.

Last year (summer of 2024), there was quite a bit of miscommunication with the management, as the manager changed a few times over a short period of time. However, since the manager took over, everything has been running smoothly.

Staff are very helpful and enthusiastic. Both of my kids are always happy and positive about this nursery. They always share their amazing activities with me and they have learnt so many out of the activities.
