Jan Pre-School and Nursery has opened a new nursery, located in East London. Newly refurbished and with highly experienced staff at the helm, the new branch now has 32 available spaces for children aged two to five.

The interior of the nursery is brand new with all new innovative toys and furniture. The furniture and equipment are made from natural materials to ensure a homely environment, where the children can feel comfortable and safe. The design will also teach children how to both respect and look after the environment. Both the location and the interior was highly applauded by their Ofsted inspector during the initial check.

The location is semi-residential; this ensures both parents and children have safe access. The road has a one-way traffic system with speed breakers which maintains that the 20 mile speed limit is adhered to. The road while being safe, also has enough space for easy pick up and drop off by parents. Moreover, the new branch is close to a beautiful local park with a green field— this will allow children to run and observe the natural wildlife.

The interior keeps in mind the development of children from 2 to 5 years, and as such is in line with the new curriculum guidance in Development Matters for the Early Years 2021.

The Director and the Nursery Manager are both Level 6 Early Years qualified. The Director has many years of teaching and management experience in primary schools across London. The children's learning, interests and development will be carefully observed by the qualified practitioners daily. Parents will receive an update on their child's learning through an online Journal.

We are delighted with the care our child has received at Jan Pre-school and nursery. Staff are friendly and conscientious and we receive pictures and updates every day so we know what activities our child has taken part in. The music and football classes are particularly good.

Good nursery. A good environment for children to grow and develop. I love that they go weekly to the park and the library, however other trips during the year would be ideal for the children to experience different experiences. Most staff are friendly and easy to talk to.

My son has had an excellent start at this nursery. The staff are warm, friendly and welcoming and always have time for you. The manager is quick to respond to enquiries and is very helpful. The communication from staff is exemplary; they use the tapestry app to update us with photos daily. The setting
is clean and the activities are varied and exciting for the little ones. I would recommend this nursery.

The director clearly hasn't got a clue on how to run a business and made our experience very unpleasant. Would not recommend it to parents who are looking for a nursery. The director also lied and said she does the 15-hours minimum yet, when we got there and asked for it to process, she didn't have
it available. This resulted in us incurring arrears, and when we asked when it will be done, she became irate and said we should look for another nursery.

I am a Mom of a 2-year-old crazy girl! I am so happy to see my daughter smiling when I come to pick her up. Sometimes she doesn't want to go home with me, she wants to stay at the nursery. This is the best sign for me that I chose the best place for her to be. When I read on their website what the values
are they follow and believe I knew this is the nursery I have been waiting for for a long time. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.708)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.708) out of 10 for Jan Pre-School and Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.708 for Jan Pre-School and Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (34 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.708
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Jan Pre-School and Nursery is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 number of registered child places is 6.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.4 = 0.625
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
