Ash Park Childcare is a well-established and highly regarded nannying and childcare service that has expanded into a nursery setting, rated GOOD by Ofsted (November 2022). The nursery director is the daughter of a local farmer and has had a lifelong passion for working with children since leaving school.

Ash Park Nursery is situated at The Stables, Marage Road, Thirsk, YO7 1UN. Its location is ideal—just a short walk from the town centre—and offers ample parking both on-site and nearby in a council-operated car park.

In addition to the nursery provision, Ash Park offers a range of flexible childcare services, including out-of-hours and evening babysitting, weekend nannying, and event babysitting for occasions such as birthdays, christenings, and weddings.

The nursery itself can accommodate up to 60 children, though the team prefers to operate slightly below this number. This allows them to maintain lower child-to-staff ratios than those recommended by government guidelines, prioritising the safety and well-being of each child. This approach also helps preserve the warm, family-oriented atmosphere that Ash Park is known for.

The owner and management team are closely involved in the day-to-day care of the children—they know each child by name and can speak in detail about their personalities, preferences, and development. Ash Park Childcare is committed to delivering the highest quality care and early education, ensuring every child has the best possible start in life.

Ash Park have been taking care of my little boy for two years, something I wouldn't do lightly.
Self admitted anxious about trusting anyone with my children. However,
I trust them implicitly they always go to great lengths to keep me and my partner informed. His Key Workers are incredible Vincent
absolutely adores Lily in particular but also Emma and Varna.
Any issues are quickly highlighted and he has a wonderful time and learns a lot everyday.
We love him attending and the biggest reference I can make is our daughter will soon attend also.
The food he is given is varied and healthy.
The trips undertaken are educational and fun spending lots of time outside as children should.
There have never been issues to bring up behaviourally and he loves his friend group there.
Security wise it is good and I haven't been worried about anything of that nature.
I highly recommend ash park to anyone seeking childcare.
Such a nurturing and caring place.

An exceptional setting, offering much needed out of school cover for my 5 and 9 year old. Both have been regulars here since they were younger (my 5 year old was cared for here from when he was 1). They are cared for in a loving setting, with carers who interact with them and offer them structure,
learning opportunities, and, in their words, fun! They love going and for me that's the best recommendation as at thier ages they tell me if they like somewhere or not. My 5 year old has autism and absolutely tells it as it is...and he loves his 'ash' days. I find the activities and planned excursions in the school holidays to be a good mix, offering something for everyone. Highly recommend it as both a nursery and wrap around school care, and school holidays care.

Ash park has been amazing for my daughter over the holidays. They organised some brilliant days out and are very flexible on fitting her in. I would highly recommend the manager and her team are amazing. My daughter really can't wait for the next holidays to go and catch up with all the friends she
has made over the many years she has been going.

My little boy has only been a handful of times when needed in holidays and he absolutely loves going to see the teachers and the other children. I always thought it would be a struggle because it's a new routine and it's not all the time but that doesn't seem to bother him and he always has lots of
fun

Our daughter loves going to the Nursery
The staff are super friendly and give a good clear account about what they have done through the day.
They make sure the children are happy and doing things all day wether it be painting and craft to baking.
With trips out and forest school, farms and local
parks.
All in all very pleased with the nursery wouod highly recommend

We are delighted with the care our child has received from the staff at Ash Park. As a SEN child, our daughter's needs are extremely specific and the care and support Ash Park have given her and us is exemplary. They have helped us through her EHCP process and continue to do extra curricular exercises
that go above and beyond their standard duty of care. A safe and supportive environment full of genuinely caring staff.

I was really anxious about leaving my son when I was due to return to work, but from day one I was put at ease by the staff and by how much my son enjoyed it.
He always has lots of stories to tell about his day and the fun he's had.
I think he'd rather be there than home now!
Great setting, really
reassuring , attentive staff.
Would recommend to everyone

Do not send your child to this setting if as a parent you are under the illusion that "good" care will be provided. The management and the owner were extremely rude and unprofessional with multiple incidents I had brought to their attention. I was only given excuse after excuse rather than acknowledging
their lack of care and understanding when it comes to childcare and how to run a sufficient early-year setting. My child's belongings were not used on my child but on other children which I experienced firsthand. My child came home with unexplained marks on her and when I questioned how they had happened members of staff had no recollection and were unaware of any incidents occurring in their care. The communication is very poor, their understanding of safeguarding leaves a lot to be desired and I deeply regret sending my child there and leaving her within their poor care.

My child is 7 and has been at Ash Park for about 6 months now (maybe longer) for breakfast and after-school club and also holiday club. She loves the place and the girls that work there. All the girls are great with the kids and are very professional. They have been extremely helpful and understanding
with my shifts. I love the fact that the girls take them out on day trips and little walks to the park/ducks. The building is lovely too.

I was very cautious about sending my child to nursery as she was extremely shy and clingy but I took the plunge and chose Ash Park Childcare due to knowing the owner. Safe to say it was the best choice I could have made, my little girl has come on leap and bounds especially with her talking and not
panicking around new people. I would highly recommend to anyone searching for a nursery. The girls go above and beyond and the children do so many activities outside which is amazing!

Fantastic loving, caring staff that take great care of my son. Providing a wide range of activities and meals. Currently, a lack of enclosed outdoor space but this isn't a worry as they are always out and about to the park, feeding ducks, indoor play gym, day trips.

I honestly cannot find the words to describe how in love with Ash Park Childcare we all are! My 3-year-old daughter goes two full days a week and my 7-year-old son does the same days but morning and after school club, plus holiday club. They are constantly doing a variety of activities to encourage
their development, which I know is expected of any nursery or preschool but they seem to go above and beyond with the children in their care. I’ve never known any child care setting taking them out into the outside world and teach them the way they do, as much as Ash Park does. Park trips, trips to the river, farm days out, the list is endless. Above all the fantastic activities they do, my kids absolutely love going! The whole team seriously make it a home from home. We couldn’t be happier!
Our children will carry on their care with Ash Park until they are sadly too old to attend anymore.

As a first-time parent, it has been quite daunting knowing that the decisions you make can affect your child’s life in such a drastic way however Ash Park Childcare have been totally amazing through every step of the process - from induction to the current day. My daughter is thriving there and, at
only 17 months old, is learning more and more every day. Each and every staff members are honest, trustworthy, and kind, leaving my anxious mind to rest and focus on work. Even though Ash Park is a relatively new service, there are years of experience behind the staff and we love to see Ash Park grow alongside our little one. Highly recommend!

It is so hard to trust someone with your little ones, but Ash Park Childcare management and staff are excellent and I totally trust them with my 1 and 4-year-old. The activities they get up to are excellent and they often do trips out. Food is always freshly made. They are very flexible so have helped
me out with last-minute childcare needs. Thirsk is so lucky to have such a lovely nursery.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.797)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.797) out of 10 for Ash Park Childcare is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.897 for Ash Park Childcare is calculated as follows: ( (96 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.897
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ash Park Childcare is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 number of registered child places is 5, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
