Busy Bees Selly Oak opened its doors on Monday 3 February 2020 and is a brand new, purpose-built nursery that welcomes babies and children from 0 to 5 years. Children developing while having fun is at the heart of the design and their happiness and well-being is the nursery's priority.

The children benefit from separate play, rest and meal time areas and they have free-flow access to a safe and secure garden, filled with fun and stimulating equipment for all age groups.

Meals and snacks are prepared on-site by the nursery's chef, who along with the rest of the nurturing staff take pride in ensuring children and parents receive all the support they need.

Both of our kids attend this nursery and absolutely love it. It's been a great source of comfort for us as parents to see how happy and settled they are. The staff are fantastic-warm, caring, and really attentive to each child's needs. They've done an amazing job helping our little ones grow, feel valued,
and build confidence.

Since the new centre manager took over, there's been a noticeable improvement. The nursery now feels much more welcoming for staff, which has a positive impact all around.

A couple of areas for improvement: more shaded outdoor space would allow children to enjoy time outside even on high UV days. And while the food is nutritious, it could sometimes be more simplified and kid-friendly. We understand the nursery follows a set menu from Busy Bees head office, which limits flexibility.

The nursery is very strong in supporting children's development, with a great mix of creative arts, games, and imaginative play that keeps them engaged and constantly learning.

I was so nervous with my 9 month old baby starting nursery but the staff are well experienced and made me feel better. They adore my baby and every child that goes to busy bees Selly oak. They listen to all details you care about. They adore the children and notice any big or small change.

The staff at this nursery are exceptional, providing an outstanding level of care. In my son's case, the support he receives is truly remarkable-everyone, from the director to his key worker and the wider team, has shown genuine commitment to understanding and meeting his individual needs. I feel completely
reassured knowing he is in such a safe, nurturing, and responsive environment.

Our son is absolutely loving his time at Busy Bees. All the staff there are extremely caring, attentive and loving. They have helped our son with his confidence and development so much since he started about 6 months ago. We love the app they use, to update us on what activities he’s taken part in during
the day (painting, playing in the garden etc), what he’s eaten, when he’s napped and when he’s changed. We fully trust our son with any of the carers there. Would absolutely recommend Busy Bees to any parents.

Our daughter is enjoying a very happy time at Busy Bees at Selly Oak, led by a friendly and caring nursery manager and our daughter has a wonderful relationship with her key workers. All the staff are lovely and genuinely seem to care about her well-being. We enjoy using the nursery app to message about
her development and see what she is up to each week with photos, milestones and tips on how she can learn new skills. We get updates on meals and developmental stages and we can see she is thriving there. We are encouraged to hear about the reading, indoor and outdoor activities. We are very happy with the nursery and can’t recommend it enough. Thank you Busy Bees at Selly Oak!

Our children started at Busy Bees Selly Oak in July 2020, and they settled in very quickly.
The nursery facilities are very clean and modern, and the staff are all very friendly and welcoming.
The nursery offers a range of activities and learning opportunities for young children and is preparing our
girls well for school.
There is an online app which the nursery updates regularly throughout the day, so you can see how your child has eaten etc. In addition, the nursery staff upload any observations that they have completed with your child onto this app.
Our girls really enjoy going to the nursery! We would definitely recommend Busy Bees Selly Oak to anyone looking for a childcare provider.

We have two children that attend Busy Bees at Selly Oak and I cannot speak highly enough of the team and facilities. The manager demonstrates excellent leadership and both children really look forward to attending each week day. All members of staff are very welcoming, kind, considerate and incredibly
enthusiastic. The preschool engagement is excellent and has enhanced on our child’s confidence as she works towards starting primary school. The facilities are very clean and modern with bright decor. The on site catering is brilliant and offers a variety of choices throughout the week and has encouraged our children to be more conscious of making healthy food choices. Thank you so much for the environment and atmosphere you have managed to create at Busy Bees at Selly Oak, our children couldn’t be happier!

Hi, my name is Jodie and I am the Centre Director here at Busy Bees Selly Oak. I joined Busy Bees as Centre Director in January 2024 but worked at this centre as the  Assistant Centre Director for several years before this. I have 15 years of childcare experience, I started my journey in childcare as an apprentice and have worked my way up to the position I am now, with experience in many different types of childcare and education settings.  I have a Foundation Degree in Childhood Studies. I have a real passion for SEN and I am the nursery SENDco. I am the mother of two boys. I find my job extremely fulfilling and I love nothing more than sitting in the base rooms and watching the children enjoying their fun-filled days. The staff at Selly Oak are committed to providing quality childcare and they take great pride in watching the children grow and develop as they move through the rooms and eventually head off to school knowing they have given them the best start in life.
