Located within the grounds of Braiswick Primary School, Sunhill Colchester offers a safe, secure and happy environment for children, enabling them to develop at their own pace, whilst having fun, making friends and becoming a confident and independent little person. The nursery offers exceptional care, enriched by unique learning opportunities for your child. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, helping to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.

The nursery offers 3 age-appropriate rooms which have been carefully planned to help children's learning and development as they grow. Each room has individual access to a free flow area which consists of a big sandpit, a music and water wall, and a newly planted sensory garden for the children to manage and investigate.

The children are also able to explore the nursery's big open space which consists of climbing apparatus, a mud kitchen, an investigation area for the children to look for and identify bugs and a bug hotel.

As the nursery is conveniently located on school grounds, the children are able to access some of the school's facilities such as Forest school and the use of the hall for yoga sessions.

The location also aids children's progression to 'big school' whether they will attend Braiswick Primary School or elsewhere. Being located in a school setting helps the children to become familiar with a school environment.

My child has improved greatly in every aspect of life. She has had a great sense of humour, understanding and intelligence since she started attending Sunhill Day Nursery.
The school provides a venue for learning and supports children in developing a positive behavioural attitude.

Friendly, helpful and supportive of development. Always gives thorough information on my child’s activities. Supportive of a vegan diet. My 17-month-old looks forward to going and can be left without crying (eventually!) very big deal for me as she’s a koala baby!

All the staff at the nursery are always so friendly and helpful. My son has come on leaps and bounds and is learning so much from all the activities they do and the support they give him. I would recommend Sunhill Day Nursery to any parents with young children who want peace of mind that their child

We are so pleased with Sunhill Day Nursery and couldn't have hoped for a better setting for our son. The team in the baby room are incredible, and the room leader recently identified an issue with our son's ears which was impacting his speech that we hadn't noticed. We are so grateful that she was able
to highlight the issue, and our child is having grommets this month to help him, as a result.
He absolutely loves playing outside in the garden, has a regular nap pattern and eats well whilst at nursery.

Fantastic nursery. Our daughter loves attending! They go above and beyond to celebrate all holidays relating to the children's backgrounds. Love getting the daily app updates.
The only opportunity is to have organic milk/food. I think organic milk is at a bare minimum.

We recently moved to Sunhill from another nursery and are so pleased we did! Every member of staff takes an interest in your child and caters to their individual learning needs and interests. The days are filled with exciting activities, which my daughter loves - including nature walks, painting, dressing
up and playing. The parent app is such a good tool as you get access to their daily information, such as meals, nappy changes and photos/videos of your child's day.
My children are really happy at Sunhill, thanks to the amazing team!

My son has thrived from joining Sunhill and has settled extremely well. The updates we receive on the app show the lovely activities the children participate in, and it is great to keep everything online to keep track of meals, nappies etc.
He has formed a close relationship with his key person and
the other members of staff within the room.
The free-flow garden is a great way for the children to build their confidence and choices. The room is lovely and spacious to explore different toys/resources. We are very happy with the care he receives.

My daughter has been at Sunhill Day Nursery since March 2022. I was incredibly anxious and scared about this step and genuinely didn't think I would ever come around to the idea of a nursery. Since attending, my daughter's development has come on so much. For example, as a baby born in early 2021, she
still wasn't exposed to crowds of people due to restrictions and our own worries - but since joining the nursery, her social development has improved significantly. She is confident and chatty, and it makes us so proud to see her enter a room and smile.
The staff are amazing - every person says hello to my little girl and knows her by name (they do all the children) whether they work in her room or not. They encourage children, they are nurturing, and they are all so good at what they do. Thank you for everything, Sunhill.

Always very helpful and supportive to my daughter, who took quite a long to settle. I really appreciated the way they helped her (and even me) to go through this. Now she enjoys her time in the nursery, having new friends and learning new things.

My sons are both at this nursery, and I can only say a big thank you to everyone! They are very well cared for, the staff are patient and kind, and they feel loved. My daughter has been at this nursery for 1.5 years now, and we have seen her blossom, both socially and in her hard skills. She has picked up words, ways of communicating, and a fantastic attitude from her time there, and she very obviously enjoys being with all of the carers and staff there.

Always made myself and my child feel welcome and very accommodating when it is needed, especially if I have needed extra hours; they try their best to do this. My daughter joined Sunhill in Feb 2022 and she is very happy to go to nursery every day. The staff in sunbeam really makes the settling in as smooth as possible. If needed, cuddles are provided. Since joining, my daughter has become a confident and independent girl. Thank you, sunbeam team.

Very nice staff and management. Keeps us well informed of our little ones' progress. They are very caring and considerate as well. My little one loves going to this nursery. Lots of places to explore and run around, plenty of activities, etc. I would definitely recommend this nursery to my friends.

My son was never keen on attending nursery, and it was a struggle to get him through the door, but since starting preschool, he waves me goodbye and off he goes.
He is very eager to tell me what he has learnt that day, whether it be letters, numbers or shapes.
He has a great relationship with all

You need to re-consider your communications with parents on matters around pay. It is not ideal that you threaten parents that their child may lose its place or will not be accepted to the building if the parent has missed a payment by a day by mistake. You should pick up the phone or send a reminder
and try to have a conversation. Please check the way you issue invoices as it is not easy to follow changes to the invoices mid-month and it is confusing.

Great after school club. Friendly staff. Lots of different activities. My son has bonded with all staff, but especially one member. My son has had some emotional difficulties, and staff have been very supportive and taken him aside to talk to. I appreciate this a great deal and feel happy he is getting
the best care at the after school club.
