My son has attended Chidrens First at Syston since he was 1 and now the time is nearing where he will soon be leaving to start school. The support, knowledge and compassion of the team is amazing and my little boy is growing and developing with a confident, bubbly personality. I know this is all down to the fantastic staff that work in each of the rooms he has been part of helping him thrive and my husband and I are grateful to them for everything they do for him each day he is there.
The care and attention given to each child is outstanding. The team takes the time to understand their individual personalities and needs, helping them build confidence, independence, and strong social skills. We've seen such wonderful progress in both of our girls.
The activities are always engaging, creative, and thoughtfully planned, striking the perfect balance between learning and play. It's clear that the staff genuinely care about the children and are passionate about what they do.
We're grateful for the positive start this nursery has given our girls. It's been a fantastic foundation for their development, and we would recommend this to other families.
Really well run, friendly nursery with well trained staff and a kitchen that provides a great variety of healthy meals & snacks. Both our boys have attended and really enjoyed their time there, made good friends and were well prepared for school.
The communication is very open and we have access to everything we need on the app.
My favourite thing is the amount of time the children are able to play outside, it's fantastic.
The staff are lovely, the facilities are great, my little one has a brilliant time here. The staff really do want what's best for your child & it shows in how much the children come out of their shell. Majority of the time the food sounds good however there are some occasions it's maybe for an older taste not 3 year olds. Other than that I have nothing bad to say.
Since becoming part of the storal group the focus on variety and nutrition in the menu rotation has been fantastic.
Front of house staff are approachable and more than willing to address and resolve any question which retains the 'family led' feel here despite it now being part of a larger nursery group.
My son has attended Children 1st Syston for the last 18 months and he absolutely loves it. He is thriving with learning and social skills and looks forward to attending each session. All of the staff are so lovely, kind and welcoming and very attentive to his dietary requirements. I recommend it to any friends and family looking to send their child to nursery.
My older son who's now at school had a lot of anxiety but staff were always understanding and did everything they could to help him enjoy his time there.
I think it's lovely we get a few updates with pictures during the day and my son always has a happy smile on his face when I collect him.
I've always felt at ease leaving them in their care.
Wonderful nursery. Our daughter who is nearly 3 loves it here. The staff are all fantastic and they always put on lots of fun activities for the kids. Food is varied and nutritious. We are very happy we chose this nursery and would recommend it to anyone.
We couldn't be happier with Children 1st Syston. The staff are warm, welcoming and genuinely caring - you can really see how much they love what they do.
They've been fantastic at adapting to our little ladies dietary needs, which has given us so much peace of mind. It's such a relief knowing she's safe, included and well looked after at mealtimes.
The management team and those in Peter Rabbits 2 and Early Years are especially wonderful - patient, supportive and truly invested in the children's development. Communication is always great, and most importantly, my child goes in happy and comes home smiling.
We feel very lucky to have found such a brilliant nursery and would highly recommended
From start to finish, the support for both our son and us as parents was outstanding. It took very little time for him to adjust and enjoy his time there, and I know this is down to the consistent positive and supportive environment during his time there.
The most important thing that this nursery did for us was help us identify our son's additional needs, and set in motion and process to get him the correct support to be ready to go into school after he finished there. Staff worked with us to create tailored support, including the use of flash cards to help with our son's vocabulary, and even introduced the teaching of Makaton to all children to build communication skills.
They also played an integral part in securing our son an EHCP which allowed him to go straight into SEND in Primary school. We are eternally grateful to Children 1st Syston and highly recommend them.
Amazing Nursery, the staff are fantastic, the facilities are excellent, we couldn't be happier. I viewed a few different nurseries and this was the first one I felt was right. The staff are so caring and I know my son loves it here. If we have any concerns the staff are more than willing to give us the time we need to discuss it, a truly incredible team.
Children 1st at Syston is a wonderful nursery! Great staff and lovely spaces for the children. The home cooked meals are varied and wholesome. My child loved this place and will miss attending now she's off to school. Would be 5 stars, but I believe the price increases were unnecessary with the government funding. Also I don't think they should charge for days when the nursery is closed, such as bank holidays.
My child has been attending Children 1st Syston for the past 3 years. I have nothing but positive feedback. It has been a truly remarkable journey my child has been on here. I strongly believe that is down to the staff and nursery set up. The rooms are well equipped for each age range, the activities they put on are amazing and well thought out. It ensures my child leaves a day at nursery having been fully engaged. All of the staff, from reception, support staff through to the key workers are amazing. All staff consistently go above and beyond. The key workers in all of the rooms have been like an extended family to my child. They show the same care, dedication and attention as I do. When I drop my child off here at nursery, I know they are in safe hands, where there will be well cared for, supported in growth and development and will have fun. I would highly recommended Children 1st Syston. If anyone is considering sending their child here, my advice would be to do it.
The nursery is a very pleasant space for my child. I have no complaints but only praise. The staff are brilliant and very friendly and they great care of my child. Facilities are great too.
My daughter has been coming to this nursery for a couple of years now and she absolutely loves it. She loves all the different activities and learning opportunities that are provided for her. All the staff are so warm and friendly and helpful, which is exactly what is needed for them. Very grateful for all the nursery provides for my daughter.
Our oldest boy is thriving and ready for school with all the support of the wonderful staff in early years. And our youngest is developing so much every day, we are so pleased we chose Children 1st as their childcare.
All nursery staff are very accommodating, excellent communication from the staff about our child and upcoming events at the nursery. Any concerns about our child are met straight away and all staff are lovely.
Overall, this nursery provides good, basic childcare and learning and I'm pleased with the cleanliness, food and resources. The learning is spot on and the staff, in general, are friendly and welcoming. However, I do feel that there is a lack of time for staff to communicate efficiently with parents on a daily basis and sometimes there are miscommunications and misleading information. Pick-up and drop-off feel very chaotic with a feeling that they don't have much time for conversations about any queries or worries, I think the early years room could benefit from keeping the daily diary as a more informed way of communicating between staff and parents.
Nutrition and activities are excellent and my child always comes home tired which in my opinion is a good indication that they are actively doing stuff in the daytime.
Sometimes my child comes home quite ill and is normally because other parents don't listen to or abide by the sickness rules set in place which can be very frustrating. I understand sickness can't be helped and my child will get ill but in my experience, I've seen a lot of the time children brought in who are visually and physically too ill to attend within the parameters set by the nursery.

Meet the Team (1)
Hello, my name is Kirsty Sadler and I joined Children 1st in 2019. I began my career as a Nursery Nurse, passionate about supporting young children’s development and giving them the best possible start. Over time, I wanted a new challenge — a space where I could showcase my skills and continue to grow.
That determination led to my promotion to Senior Nursery Nurse, where I took on additional responsibilities and began mentoring others. I then progressed to Deputy Manager, gaining valuable experience in leadership and operational support. In 2024, I took the biggest step in my journey and became Nursery Manager.
Every stage of my career has taught me something new, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities and support I’ve had along the way. I’m excited for what’s to come and remain committed to creating environments where children, families, and teams can thrive.
I hold a Level 3 qualification in Early Years and am proud of the experiences that have shaped my practice.
One of the things I love most about my role is working closely with individual families and their children. Every child is unique, and every family brings something special — no two days are ever the same. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of those early moments, whether it’s a child’s first steps into nursery or helping a parent feel confident and reassured.
I’m especially passionate about providing high-quality childcare for all, creating inclusive environments, and supporting families. For me, this work isn’t just about routines and milestones — it’s about relationships, trust, and watching children grow into confident, curious individuals.
