Blue Pear Day Nursery and Preschool is run by two sisters who have over 10 years experience working with children. They pride themselves on creating a safe, caring and stimulating learning environment with opportunities for children in their care. They have a dedicated team of staff with a range of skills and experience to offer.

The nursery benefits from a professional sports session delivered by a teacher each week for their preschool helping to develop a range of skills and a highly engaging Spanish and music session for their younger children in which they learn Spanish through interactive music and movement each week.

Located near to different transport links and with free parking outside the nursery, it is easy to pick up and drop off for parents. They have easy access to the local parks and library which they are regular visitors of.

My daughter had a wonderful experience in the pre school room at Blue Pear. The range of activities across the week was impressive, you could tell that every day had been planned with great care and creativity. She gained a lot from the beautiful space but also from the trips out. The menu was varied
and healthy and she always enjoyed the food. The staff were attentive and enthusiastic and she really loved spending time with them. She built lovely relationships with them and the other children. Communication and organisation was great overall. We were sad to say goodbye but she was also very ready for school; the balance of free play with more structure developmental learning activities was great preparation for joining reception.

My daughter went to Blue Pear Day Nursery for almost two years after starting at Childminder. The team made her feel really welcome and she settled really quickly. The team are brilliant at creating a very positive culture for the children which results in good behaviour and a calm atmosphere. The kids
are also very caring towards each other. The quality of learning is very high with a good amount of practice in phonics, numbers and wider learning. They are very thoughtful in putting on special events which welcome parents and guardians into the preschool. There's no outdoor space but the team take children to the library every day. Altogether, very pleased with our experience at Blue Pear.

My son has had a great experience at Blue Pear Day Nursery , he made many friends, grew his confidence and learned loads! He is more than prepared to start big school thanks to the great routine you have at the nursery. It's great that the app was used as I was up to date with his schedule that day.
However, I must say, if your child is on a funded place, they're not involved with certain events i.e Christmas lunch/ sports day which I don't think is fair for any child to miss out!

Thank you for your review. However you may have been misinformed about funded only children not being able to attend events, as all children are included with events at the nursery. Sometimes when a…read more

I feel so lucky to have found this nursery. It is calm, organised and fun. All of the staff have great energy and enthusiasm and from baby room, toddler room and preschool have always made me feel they really cared about my child.
They get outside twice a day consistently and I liked that baby room
just had six spaces, it was a very nurturing, calm environment for my son to start off in. He and we have made friends for life through the other kids and families. Communication always great and lovely atmosphere throughout. Absolutely recommend.

My child has been attending Blue Pear Day Nursery and Pre-School for over a year, where his development has been incredible. They have an holistic approach to teaching, often using a variety of resources to educate children to make learning more fun and interactive. Parents are kept in the loop with
their child's progress through an online system which gives us an insight of their daily activities as well as being informative and photos are accompanied with a detailed write up. Also, what stood out to me is that this nursery teaches my son life skills such as pouring his own water, helped improve his co-ordination, scraping his plate after lunch and also have a cleaning station present where they can clean their faces. Not only has this encouraged my child to be independent but they have successfully prepared my child for school ensuring the transition is as smooth as possible. Staff are friendly. Overall cannot fault this nursery. Thank you for doing such a great job!

My daughter has been at Blue Pear for nearly 2 years and we are very happy with the progress she has made in that time. The staff are friendly and caring whilst also ensuring that children are provided with daily learning opportunities. My daughter will be starting school in 6 months and although we
will be sad to leave this nursery, we know she will be completely ready for reception!

My daughter joined in April this year and has come on in leaps and bounds. I get daily updates on her and her room leaders are up for a chat. All the staff are extremely friendly and full of smiles. The children always have one on one time, as well as group time. My daughter's room leaders are quite
clued onto my little one's behaviour patterns. I am very happy with Blue Pear and my daughter is very happy there.

Our son was one of the first babies who joined Blue Pear when they opened to younger children. We have been thrilled with his experience there. All staff know our son, his key workers are kind, dedicated, warm, fun and professional. The management are very hands-on and know all the children. I was slightly
concerned about the lack of outdoor space but the children go to a variety of parks and have fantastic and diverse outdoor experiences.

I am very happy with the nursery.
The staff are great, help taking extra care when told my baby has a minor unwell condition
(runny nose/sore bottom etc). Great food choices always fun and educational activities. I consider as an advantage that they take kids out in public every day and to learn
to behave on the street.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.696)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.696) out of 10 for Blue Pear Day Nursery Penge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.833 for Blue Pear Day Nursery Penge is calculated as follows: ( (42 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.833
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.863 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Blue Pear Day Nursery Penge is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 number of registered child places is 8.2. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.2 = 0.488
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
