Halstead St Andrew's provides a lovely community home from home feel for all their families. The nursery provides care and education for children aged from two years and all of the staff are highly trained and experienced in the Early Years Sector. Early drop off (Breakfast Club) and late pick up (After School Care) are available.
They are located in a leafy road in Woking, very close to the main train station.
They offer specialist teacher input in PE, Performing Arts, Outdoor Learning, Music and French in Pre-School as part of the rich Early Years curriculum. They were rated ‘Excellent’ in every aspect at their last ISI Inspection (June 2022).
Snacks and nutritious lunches, prepared onsite, are all included.
The team recognise that very often both parents work and as such require nursery provision for their child to be available for the majority of the calendar year. They have, therefore, extended their Nursery provision. During term time the children will continue to participate in specialist lessons including PE, Music, Performing Arts and Outdoor Learning. In school holidays Nursery Plus will offer weekly themes, including daily activities covering all 7 areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Nursery Plus opens 8am – 5.00pm in the holidays and parents are able to sign up to the full extended 46 week provision or book days in advance.

The staff at Halstead are compassionate, kind, and involved and genuinely get to know the girls well. Their open-door policy means communication is easy with the staff looking after the girls. Communication with the head office is less clear, emails aren’t always answered and clarity of the provision is not obvious from the first meeting. The fees are not straightforward in terms of breakdown of cover.
The classrooms and facilities are also good (although there is not direct access to a grass area, the facilities and fields that form part of the school more than makeup for this and the girls are taken out to these daily). The academics are not forced on the girls, but a clear lesson is taught every day (gym, music, phonics, etc.). My daughter has loved being part of a school and has not been as “babied” as she was in her previous nursery. I think this sets the girls up well for school while allowing them to play and “be kids”.

Lovely nurturing nursery. Amazing admin and organisation by the staff. Daughter always happy to go and excited to be there. Nursery teachers always have time to talk to parents about children, and encourage children’s independence and interests.

I moved my daughter to Halstead after a bad experience at another nursery in Ockham. We couldn't be more thrilled with Halstead. There is continuity of staff, excellent pre-school style learning, and a clear transition to the pre-prep school/reception. My daughter skips into school every day...
I moved my daughter to Halstead after a bad experience at another nursery in Ockham. We couldn't be more thrilled with Halstead. There is continuity of staff, excellent pre-school style learning, and a clear transition to the pre-prep school/reception. My daughter skips into school every day singing I Love Halstead, which makes me so happy. Unlike other preschools, it offers nursery provision 46 weeks a year and offers excellent before/after school care. One small downside is that the nursery only offers one hot meal a day - the 4pm tea-time snack is sandwiches, which isn't comparable to most other daycare nurseries.
However, overall we are delighted with Halstead - would highly recommend.

My daughter loves it here. In fact, during the holidays, she really does miss it and always talks about it! She is extremely happy here and has made lots of friends. My daughter is well looked after and I feel at ease knowing she's in safe hands throughout the day whilst in a caring, stimulating educational environment where she can flourish and play. They have specialist classes i.e. gymnastics and music, as well as following an enriched early years curriculum which includes phonics, writing, numbers, topics etc. The teachers and staff are all amazing, super friendly, caring and knowledgeable. The nursery is extremely clean and well organised with designated learning/play areas and a large garden/school grounds to explore. Outdoor play, whatever the weather, is always encouraged which stimulates creativity, curiosity and Independence and connects them with nature. The lunches are also amazing; my daughter now eats a more varied diet since attending here. I highly recommend Halstead Preparatory School for Girls!

I am extremely pleased with how my daughter has settled at Halstead, and how happy and stimulated she is.
The team at Halstead are very knowledgeable about early years education, they're warm and caring. She is already learning her phonics, numbers and writing, as well as about the world which gives her an excellent start in school. I love the fact that she has specialised teaching in areas like PE, gym, drama and music.
The food provision is great as its part of the wider school. She has made lovely friends, as have I as a parent, and every day she comes back with a smile on her face, with different things that she's made, with songs she's learned and a sense of achievement if she's been the helping hand or achieved something new and got a sticker.
I think Halstead is a wonderful nursery and school, I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

My daughter and I love this school. My daughter started just after her second birthday, she has thrived in this environment with the help of all the wonderful staff. She attends three days each week but would happily attend every day! I have nothing but praise for this school.

Excellent school, my daughter loves every moment being there. When my daughter was unwell, the school team helped her giving medication (with In School Medication Parent consent) and very well looked after her. I am very pleased with the amazing teaching team and the lovely staff, who work very hard week in, week out to give the students their very best. Progress is monitored here at all levels. Good communication. My daughter has learnt several things here and has made brilliant progress. Thanks to the school team for everything. And especially thanks to the school headmistress for her effective leadership. Overall, a positive school culture and a hallmark of academics, sports and arts.

We've had a wonderful experience at Halstead. My daughter loves it and all the teachers have been so supportive and kind. I can't recommend it highly enough. The other girls and families have all been so friendly too.
