The rooms are divided by age: Baby (3 months to 2 years), Toddlers (2-3 years), and Preschool (3-5 years). The rooms have staff allocated to them, meaning that they become familiar with the age group, the children and the families around them.
Sunny Days Nursery offers a safe environment for children to learn through play. Staff create learning opportunities and leave provocations and invitations to play for the children. The nursery is committed to supporting children and meeting them at their stage of development. The recent Ofsted report highlighted the level of SEND support, and this is a point of pride for the team. Children thrive on the child-led approach, and staff cover the curriculum by following individual interests.
Each child who starts at the nursery is allocated a key worker, based on who builds the strongest bond. The key worker is responsible for ensuring the child receives observations, assessments, and next steps. Families get to know the key worker well.
Sunny Days Nursery recognises that it can be difficult for families when a child begins nursery, so settling sessions are offered. Staff are experienced in welcoming new children, settling them, and reassuring parents. The nursery has an open-door culture, so families can call to check on their child and drop off or collect at any time during the booked session.
There is a shared car park for Planet Play and Sunny Days Nursery to the front of the building and on road parking with 5+ spaces.

Sessions (all ages): Half Sunrise 7:30–8am £5.40; Sunny Morning+ 8am–3pm £74.20; Sunny School Day 9am–2pm £54.00. Session extensions: Sunny Morning extra 1–3pm £21.00; Sunny Morning+ extra 3–6pm £30.00; Sunny School Day extra 2–6pm £39.00. Minimum booking is two 5-hour sessions per week on separate days. Early drop-off or late collection is charged at £25 per 15 minutes outside booked sessions. A £35 registration fee may apply. Discounts: 5% sibling discount on the eldest child (maximum 15% per family); 10% off unfunded hours for Dorset County Hospital Foundation Trust employees. A limited number of term-time-only funded places with no additional charges are available. Funded hours carry a Consumables Package covering food, personal care and enhanced resources (such as forest school, music and trips), charged at £10.00 (0–2), £15.00 (2–3) or £20.00 (3–5) for a full funded day. Families can opt out of individual items termly.

We have been incredibly impressed by the high standards at Sunny Days - from the time given to us as parents when choosing a nursery, through to the day to day care given to our child. Since joining Sunny Days, our son looks forward to and enjoys nursery, and this has had a positive impact on the whole family. His confidence has grown enormously and his communication skills, both with adults and other children have developed no end. We are able to leave our son at nursery and go to work, fully confident that he is receiving the best possible care from competent, caring and friendly staff.

The nursery staff are very friendly and always asking for updates (e.g how my child's weekend was and what they have been up to) There are lots of facilities available for the children, my child has come home with cakes they have baked and some lovely art work/craft work. She is very happy when I drop her off and whenever she isn't staff are brilliant at calming her down and finding something to entertain her. The only thing that isn't so great is it is extremely expensive compared to others in the area. I possibly would have reconsidered sending her here due to the cost, but wasn't given all the pricing details at the start due to staff changes.

Went to nursery for a few hours to see if my son and I liked the nursery, which we did. My son went to sleep straight away on our visit. The very next day, my son stayed all day. I felt very confident that they would take care of my boy, although very difficult to leave.

Really pleased with the care of my daughter two half days a week. When getting feedback about my daughter I really get the sense of them knowing and understanding. Very happy with our experience. There were a few admin issues to begin with but these are hopefully all resolved now.

In the short time my daughter has been attending nursery she has progressed immensely and enjoys going every week. The range of activities are brilliant - the staff are outstanding and I have complete confidence in their care, I cannot recommend them highly enough.

As Manager, my responsibilities are to be the Safeguarding Deputy and to ensure the nursery runs smoothly.
I always knew I wanted to work in childcare since I was very small. As a teenager, I did lots of regular babysitting for many families and then went on to do my Level 3 at college; while doing this, I got my first job at the local after-school club.
After finishing college, I also got a job at the pre-school, alongside the after-school club and volunteered at the local Brownies, toddler group and youth club. I then went on to work as a Childminder's assistant before becoming a Childminder myself. My husband got a job opportunity that took us out of Cornwall into Devon at the beginning of 2020, where I started working in a nursery in Exeter as a Room Leader in the Preschool and then Baby room before I moved on to working here at the lovely Sunny Days.
I have worked in childcare for 12 years and joined the team here in November 2021. I love working with children and have such a passion to watch and teach them how to grow and progress.

I first realised I loved working with children when I was young, babysitting for families as a teen, and doing work experience in a nursery, which created a spark for SEN. I have worked with children with additional needs since school, as a 1-1 for many children, specialising in Autism. I hold a SENDCo qualification, and this is my favourite aspect of my job. I have been 1-1 for children in both nurseries and school, supporting the most complex children. I have worked in SEN schools and have been recognised by OFSTED for my work.
I currently work across all of the rooms here with all of the age groups to provide support to all. I ensure the smooth running of the setting and work very closely with Victoria to come up with new and exciting ideas for both the staff and the children.
