Melville Street nursery has provided a loving supportive environment in which our children have thrived and headed with both social and educational tools which has seen them thrive there too in the case of my eldest child. My middle child will move to school this summer and my youngest will start his
Melville Street time later this year. They offer a wide variety of activities and experiences for children which really enriches their time at nursery. Our children have loved the weekly forest school and swimming sessions in the later years and in the earlier years trips to the local area and further afield have been exciting events in their nursery life. Day to day we have been impressed by the feedback given us at the end of each day, the love care the staff provide the children with - we have had several lovely key workers which our children have enjoyed spending time with. We really have been made welcome at Melville Street and really feel part of their family!

My son is so happy at Melville Street, he runs in each day and doesn't look back. The staff are fantastic! They are nurturing and full of positive energy. The staff are so attentive to each child and develop really lovely bonds, it is clear to see.
My son is involved in engaging learning and social
activities every day and I love that the children are outdoors playing as much as possible.
I am delighted with the level of care my son receives at Melville Street and highly recommend the nursery to anyone considering it.

We've been really happy with Melville Street Nursery. The care is excellent, with a strong focus on learning and development from an early stage. There is a great variety of activities, and the trips they organise are a real highlight and always well thought through.
The food is balanced and nutritious,
which is very reassuring. It has been a brilliant start to our son's education, and we've seen him grow in confidence and curiosity.
The management team are very good and responsive to individual needs. We feel our child is well cared for and supported in all aspects. We've been so pleased with our experience that our younger sibling will be attending.

Our eldest son started in the baby room in June 2023 and our youngest started in the baby room in January 2025. There has been continuity of staff with both boys being looked after by the same staff and having the same key worker in Babies and Tweenies. In the Babies and Tweenies our youngest is taken
outside almost daily for local walks, to the zoo, train station, to watch the trams etc. In the School room there is weekly swimming and football and a real focus on learning with a current focus being on road safety. We feel very lucky to have found a nursery where the staff care so much for our kids.

Our son started at Melville Street at the end of 2024 and settled in quickly, thanks to the kind and welcoming staff. He truly enjoys his time at nursery and is always excited to go.
They provide a wide range of trips and activities, which he absolutely loves. It's been great to see how much he gets
involved and how happy he is there. We're very happy with the experience so far.

It's a really nice wee nursery. All the nursery workers I've met have been lovely and really care about the kids. The kids get outside pretty much every day, which is great, either in the back garden or out for a walk somewhere in town. The nursery manager is really great at giving info and he seems
to know all the kids by name, as knows my child well enough to know their favourite activities. We get regular info from the admin team.

We're so impressed with this nursery and honestly couldn't recommend it enough.

The staff are amazing, they really care about the children and take the time to understand each child and what they need.

It feels like every child gets great support and attention. The forest school and swimming

lessons are such brilliant extras and make it even more special.

Our child has only been there a short time but is already thriving and so happy. We feel really lucky to have found it.

My son attends nursery since January and so far I am quite happy with care he receives, meals, activities, etc. Location suits us perfectly well and staff are really friendly. An App keeps us posted of relevant news and updates, glad to have it as a reference to everything.

I have had a daughter here starting in the baby room in 2022 and she is now in the school room ready to go off to school this summer. I also have a son now in the tweenie room since the end of 2025. Both my children have always been so happy in this nursery and always formed great bonds with the staff
who are so brilliant with all the children. I know that when I drop them off in the morning that they are happy and well looked after every day. The food has always been so varied and healthy cooked by the chef on site and both my children always enjoy the meals. The children are taken on lots of outings to get them outdoors, from walks and trips to the park in the younger years and now my daughter gets to take part in forest school every Monday, swimming lessons every Thursday and football lessons every Friday. There is such a lovely family feel within the nursery and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nursery for their child.

I pulled my child out of this nursery after a month. I didn't feel that the care was given to individual children's needs and frankly that the place needed a good clean. Lots of very young junior staff. Felt the children were not the priority.
Reply from Maureen Crandles, Director at Melville Street NurseryWe have a designated cleaning company who are very thorough. We also have a onsite maintenance manager. The staff are a committed professional team of mixed ages who are extremely fond of their key children. We totally refute the comments in this review. The reviewer refused to meet with us to discuss concerns and CCTV does not verify the comments.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.214)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.214) out of 10 for Melville Street Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.908 for Melville Street Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (108 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 119 Ratings = 4.908
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.306 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Melville Street Nursery is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 number of registered child places is 18. 10 Positive Reviews ÷ 18 = 0.556
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
