Heatherton's Nursery offers both boys and girls an outstanding start to their education journey. Based in a large, refurbished and specially designed early years area with wonderful outdoor space, it is part of Heatherton School, a leading girls' independent prep school in Amersham.

Heatherton School Nursery is run by highly experienced and caring staff who get to know every single child personally and can unlock their individual potential. They work in close partnership with parents to ensure that every child develops a lively, enquiring mind, feels happy and settled, and fulfils their potential in all aspects of progress and growth.

Children learn through planned, purposeful play, exploration and investigation. They have two fully qualified teachers as part of the team, with an extremely high staff to child ratio, meaning they are able to offer a true child-centred pattern of learning. This enables them to respond to the individual learning needs and interests of children and to tailor their education to suit them, and at their pace.

Heatherton’s Nursery offers children quality teaching and experiences. Every week, children enjoy interactive music and modern foreign languages sessions with Heatherton’s specialist teachers. The children also take part in weekly ballet lessons taught by their highly experienced ballet teacher, as well as popular PE and ball skills sessions, run by external experts.

Children are able to choose activities that interest them and are allowed time to complete their chosen tasks in both the outdoor and indoor area, which features a purposeful wooden play frame, a fully equipped IT zone, separate role-play space, a dedicated creative area, and a cosy room for circle time. There is also an impressive outdoor area with numerous ride-on toys, water play, large sand-pit and dedicated garden and digging zone.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
This is a very well organised nursery with fantastic, caring staff. I believe it has the right balance of structure and free play and I feel like my daughter is treated as an individual, with her likes being observed.

There is a good level of communication and I feel involved in what my child is

doing. Staff are approachable and proactive and are positive role models for the children.

I honestly can't recommend this nursery enough. Prior to this, my daughter attended another nursery (with the same Ofsted rating) and there really is no comparison.
