Absolutely love The Spanish Nursery. The staff are extremely caring and loving, with fantastic teaching technique. Lots of creative activities; allowing children to explore at their own pace and interest. Definitely not afraid of making any mess and my son absolutely loves it. Great variety of cooked
meals, snacks and fruit. It is a fun, creative, caring and loving nursery. Would definitely recommend this nursery to any family.

I can only praise this fabulous nursery and all the staff for their amazing hard work! My son has been attending since last year and we couldn't be happier. The staff is caring and affectionate, children are nurtured and their skills developed with an individual attention. My son loves going to nursery
and he asks me to go even during the weekends! The food is delicious and the atmosphere is always joyful and relaxed. We also really appreciate the parents evening and the events which have contributed to creating a great social network among parents too. The director went the extra mile for us last year when we suddenly found ourselves with no childcare from one day to another and everyone helped our son settling in smoothly. He is also picking up Spanish which is great! We can't thank enough the nursery staff (including the lovely chef) for their commitment and dedication especially his key workers. This nursery is a little gem and we feel very lucky to have found it!

Our son was at The Spanish Nursery from 1 1/2 to 2 years old, when we left it was because of moving house. In this time he developed from a baby to a little boy, learning huge amounts and developing socially and personally each week. We cannot imagine a better nursery with kinder, more caring staff.
Their attention to each child is extraordinary and our son talked about the teachers at the time. The food is excellent and the balance between having a routine and being flexible and responsive to each child was perfect. For example, lunch is at 11.45 but if he's hungry before they took him to the kitchen for a breadstick or some fruit. We are so sorry to leave - a truly wonderful nursery.

Really jealous of my sister's nursery at Tufnell Park. They have meals prepared on the premises and her little ones are very happy attending nursery everyday. The second language advantage is a major plus in my book.

The Spanish Nursery is a loving and stimulating bilingual environment for children. The child to staff ratio is excellent and children are well cared for. The food is healthy and mealtimes are shared with everyone. There's always plenty going on and lots of focus on art, music and core learning. The
nursery is good at involving and engaging with parents. My daughter loves going there!

Lovely nursery. They give my 2 year old son so much love, affection and patience. As an added bonus he is learning Spanish, even though we only speak English to him at home. They have also helped him enjoy new foods, including salad! Everything is home made in the nursery, which is great. They have
been flexible with us around certain needs, like his nap. Highly recommended. I also appreciate their hours because they are open for the whole work day. This is essential to me as a working mother.

The Spanish Nursery is a lovely, caring and nurturing place. We feel like we are dropping our children off with the family every day as the ladies that work there are so friendly and warm. Our children are constantly learning, playing and developing and the teachers speak Spanish to them most of the
day. My husband is Spanish and he speaks Spanish to the children on the weekend and evenings and from this and attending the nursery a few days a week, they are already bilingual. The space is also lovely and there are so many corners for the children to play and learn. I would highly recommend this nursery to other parents.

Our child feels safe, happy and stimulated in this environment. There is a tasty, varied menu and there are many events/activities that tie in both Spanish and other cultures as well as trips to various locations. They keep you updated about anything that is of importance to you such as how much they
have eaten in our case.
There have been some core staff changes in the year, but they have maintained consistency and had good handover for new staff to whom my daughter responded well.
They keep you updated about your child's development.
There is less Spanish spoken by the children than I would have wished for as many children come from non-Spanish speaking families, but the teachers do their best to give them as much instruction in Spanish and to promote English when needed as this is, of course, part of the curriculum and ethos. I do however think it is a wonderful opportunity for those families and for education overall as promoting bilingualism is paramount these days.

My daughter was one of the first to attend this very special place in 2013, so we have got to know all the staff very well and they have become like an extension of our family. This made the transition very easy when we sent my son there last year. The environment is nurturing in every way. The children
are greeted with smiles and cuddles as soon as they enter in the morning and this affection is continued throughout the day. The focal point of the day being lunch where the staff sit with the children who are expected to sit at the table and enjoy a three-course meal all together using real cutlery. The teachers will often sing to the children at siesta time to help them get to sleep emphasising how well they are cared for. Whenever I pick my son up he is full of exciting stories from his day and I know that he has been looked after beautifully by the warm and kind hearted girls who are like young aunties to him.

Our daughter has been at The Spanish Nursery for a year. She is very happy, has made great friends and now speaks Spanish.
The staff are lovely, very affectionate and our daughter talks fondly of her teachers and time spent playing at the nursery.
This gives us great confidence that she is being
well looked after.

My husband and I do not speak Spanish, I am Australian and my husband is English but we wanted our children to learn a second language and chose Spanish not only because it is widely spoken around the world but also because we love its culture and traditions. Our now 5-year-old son went to the Spanish
Nursery for 2 years and thanks to the Nursery now speaks Spanish just as fluently as he speaks English. I also have a 2-year-old son currently attending the nursery and he understands Spanish and says many sentences and words in Spanish (and sings songs in Spanish).
I am so impressed by the nursery's culture and values. It provides a warm, caring, family environment for my son, there is a real sense of community. At the Nursery, my son feels safe, secure and loved whilst having plenty of fun. For my 5-year-old son, his learning and education at the nursery provided him with an excellent foundation for starting Primary School.
I can't recommend The Spanish Nursery enough.

Finding a nursery you feel comfortable leaving your most precious and dear children in can be hard.
I knew from the moment I spoke to the staff at The Spanish Nursery and saw all the smiley children's faces that this would work for my son and I. They always show love and comfort to the children whilst
upholding extremely high standards or education and integration.
My son has flourished at The Spanish Nursery and I have never felt as though I am leaving him at nursery more like at family members house.
I would recommend The Spanish Nursery to any parents looking for a home from home comfort for their children.
Run by the amazing staff, within a safe and structured environment and with love.

The team at The Spanish Nursery are brilliant and the children have a huge range of activities to keep them learning and occupied. Our little one has been going for 5 months now and I have no doubt about sending our second child there too.
It is a relaxed, nurturing and creative space and the children
have a great time there it seems.
Lately, it has been getting harder to get our little one to leave when I arrive, I am often being showed around for a few minutes before we manage to leave. A great sign I think.

This is such a wonderful place. Its level of engagement with the parents and families is matched with its incredible commitment to the children in its care. This nursery has nurtured our child with skill, care and deep affection and the food is outstanding too.
We could not be more happy with every
member of staff and our child looks forward to every new day. We do not have a Spanish background at home, but our child in a year has begun to communicate fully in Spanish which only adds to the reasons to chose this excellent nursery. The nurturing kindness of this environment makes it stand out from other creches we have looked at and attended.

The Spanish Nursery has been a great place for our now 4-year-old boy to go. He feels at home there and has learnt huge amounts and not just curriculum material. Everything from table manners to bathroom etiquette has been learnt and/or reinforced by the teachers at TSN. Everyone there is uncommonly
warm and tactile and they very clearly know and care about every child who they look after.
The hours which are close to year-round opening, are extremely helpful for working parents. Neither of us is Spanish or Spanish-speaking but learning a second language at such an early age can only be of benefit.
I don't hesitate to recommend TSN wholeheartedly.
Oh, and the food is fantastic and very healthy.

I couldn't be happier with The Spanish Nursery. I am confident my child is growing in a very caring, familiar environment and learning different skills every day. Not only that but also my child is now fluent in Spanish in only 8 months.
I love every aspect of the nursery but perhaps what I love the
most is that it isn't a strict environment, but rather a very comforting and familiar environment which has made my child feel safe and comfortable in there.
He has developed strong bonds with pretty much all the carers and never wants to leave when we pick him up.

I am delighted with the care and education my son is receiving at The Spanish Nursery. We are new to London and I feel so lucky to have found this community-minded nursery. My son was immediately welcomed and made to feel comfortable. The teachers and staff are lovely and knowledgeable about early childhood
education. They very quickly got to know my son and communicated any observations about him immediately. The care they take with the children is reflected in everything they do, from the thoughtful activities, routines, incredible food and meal times, and the curriculum. The staff are responsive to my needs and questions and they are excellent communicators. They take great care to meet expectations are are meticulous about guidelines and regulations. The best thing about the school is its incredible warmth and good feeling. My son is all smiles every day when I come to pick him up. The teachers all work hard and their dedication is evident. I highly recommend this school to anyone.

My daughter has gone to the Spanish Nursery since October 2015, we chose it because our Spanish nanny had taught my daughter some Spanish and we wanted her to keep what she had learnt. The nursery has been great and has done far more than just help my daughter keep and develop her Spanish.

The nursery

is in a large community hall with a connected Astro turf garden and access to a private wood where the children can do nature walks and exploring. Every day there is nice mix of free play, group activities (singing, stories and games) and planned activities to develop different skills (fine motor, problem solving etc). There is also lots of topic based learning, at the moment we are learning poems and songs about winter and the children are doing work about the season in nursery. The poems and songs helps parents get involved and are really useful for parents like us with very limited Spanish as we can learn the songs and poems that my daughter brings home and sing them as a family.

My daughter is very happy at the nursery, she really likes the adults and describes them all as her best friends and with their help and encouragement she is making friends the other children. The food is nice and healthy and often includes traditional Spanish food which deepens my daughters knowledge of Spain. The progress reports we have had are detailed and helpful, we and the staff are currently working on developing my daughter's gross motor skills.

The staff are lovely and are all bilingual English/Spanish which helps me and my husband as meetings about progress and updates can be given in either English or Spanish. There are quite a few children who had no Spanish before they started at the nursery and they are progressing too.

All in all (as you can tell from this review) I am really happy and recommend this nursery.

The whole team works hard to ensure every child has the right activities, equipment, to make the daily learning so much fun that children love going to the nursery. The staff is really professional and friendly, the food is excellent and the kids eat really well. Key-workers are in constant contact
with parents to update them and review, share goals. Managers and team leaders are very accessible and responsive. Our experience has been excellent and our child couldn't be happier.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.283)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.283) out of 10 for The Spanish Nursery and Children's Centre for Culture and Language is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.950 for The Spanish Nursery and Children's Centre for Culture and Language is calculated as follows: ( (57 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.95
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.333 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Spanish Nursery and Children's Centre for Culture and Language is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 number of registered child places is 6. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.833
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
