Chatterboxes Pre-School, Moseley is a warm, inclusive early years setting located in the heart of Moseley. Welcoming children aged 2 to 4, the pre-school offers flexible, term-time sessions including, morning sessions Monday to Friday (9am to 1pm) and afternoon sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays (1pm to 4:30pm).

Chatterboxes is ideal for families looking to make the most of their funded childcare hours, offering both 15 and 30-hour funded places alongside fee-paying options.

Chatterboxes is currently working towards accreditation in the Curiosity Approach, which blends Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Steiner, and Te Whariki philosophies. This approach promotes awe and wonder, independence, and the use of authentic, natural materials to create a calm, inspiring environment. With a strong home-from-home ethos, Chatterboxes is known for its nurturing environment and close relationships with children and families. It follows a play-based, child-led learning approach, responding to children’s interests and needs. The setting encourages outdoor play with a beautiful, well-equipped garden featuring a mud kitchen, planting areas, and plenty of space for exploration. The setting also embraces eco-friendly practices such as composting, recycling, and sustainable play.

Inclusive and welcoming to all, including children with additional needs, Chatterboxes supports communication development through the use of Makaton. Staff are fully qualified in early years education and paediatric first aid.

The staff at Chatterboxes Pre-school have been amazing in the development of my daughter's confidence. When she first arrived at the nursery her anxiety got in the way of her enjoying her time there, however, with the special care and attention she received from the nursery staff in particular two members
of staff, my daughters' confidence has improved hugely. My daughter also suffers from hypermobility and the nursery have been incredibly accommodating towards this, we have seen a huge improvement in how my daughter now engages with outdoor apparatus, as she has overcome her fears and has transformed into a confident girl. The nursery environment is incredibly welcoming and safe, thus allowing my daughter to fully enjoy her time there. The hands-on approach with the outdoors and nature is a unique experience that the nursery offers, enabling children with soft skills which further develop their understanding of the environment around them.

Chatterboxes is fabulous, both my girls have loved attending and they do this alongside three days of full-day nursery placement. This is a fantastic compliment and the girls cannot wait for their Chatterboxes day. Chatterboxes has a strong focus on outdoor play and learning, and children's independence
is championed by all the staff. The range of activity and focus sessions is diverse and celebrates Birmingham's diverse and vibrant culture. Substantially and am environmentally conscious ethos has been embedded into my eldest daughter's mindset and Chatterboxes has really nurtured this.

Jabina Akhtar

Job Title: Owner / Manager Joined: 2006

Jabina began her journey at Chatterboxes as a parent helper in 2006 and started her employment in March 2007. 12 years later Jabina was given the opportunity to take over and has become the new owner. Both her sons attended Chatterboxes and now are volunteers.
Jabina is a DSL and SENCO, she has EYPS qualification (Level 6) and has Paediatric First Aid.
