Barfield School Nursery is set within the stunning grounds of Barfield Prep School. Providing a homely setting, the nursery staff get to know each child so that they can meet their individual needs and encourage their unique personalities. Play-based learning ensures there is always something to engage every child.

The Nursery has light, airy rooms conducive to learning and contains innovative learning tools. They offer every child top-class early education, giving them a head start in life. The Sleep Room has recently been refreshed and updated to facilitate a more homely environment when the younger children have nap time.

Professionals fully use school facilities, including the library and regular swimming lessons in the warm indoor pool. Children can access many outdoor activities with outdoor learning and adventure play areas. Outdoor learning sessions are taught in the extensive grounds and woodland, and the children play outside at break in the purpose-built sandy play area.

My daughter has developed so much in the few weeks since she started at Barfield School Nursery. Her language has improved immeasurably, she says "Please" and "Thank you" a lot more and generally seems very happy and stimulated. The range of activities is extremely varied, the food is well prepared
and the staff are lovely, professional and caring.

The nursery is truly outstanding. The facilities are exceptional and children have so many opportunities to play and experience a wealth of new things; forest school, PE, swimming, library, outings and much more!
The staff are professional but nurturing too! Your child is treated as an individual.
I could not recommend Barfield more.

My daughter adores the nursery at Barfield School. She loves the staff and really enjoys the activities on offer (especially swimming and cooking). She has had a lot of fun this term with the topic of families including making a beautifully decorated frame for a photo of us all.

During my daughter's last 12 months at Barfield she has developed into a polite little girl, her speech, writing and numbers as improved dramatically. The staff team are all amazing, the rooms are well equipped and along with the playing fields, forest and chickens and pool. They have a huge variety
of activities at their disposal. The wrap around care provides flexibility for parents. All this for the same cost as a normal stand alone nursery. Barfield Nursery is superb.

My 2 and a half-year-old daughter has recent started attending the nursery at Barfield School. Each day she returns home full of stories about her day! She receives a wonderful balance of learning and play and the nursery facilities are fantastic. I hope she continues with the same level of enthusiasm
through the school years.

-Every member of the nursery team knows me and my daughter well.
-The children take advantage of all of the school facilities, including the art and craft room, swimming pool, hall for games, woodland for forest schools and music room.
-They learn music and PE with qualified specialist teachers each
week.
- I get individual, detailed feedback on my daughter's progress and development, as well as her social interactions with others.
-The staff listen to my comments and queries and are all approachable and utterly reliable. There is also regular weekly email communication.
-I would recommend this nursery to all. Brilliant!

Our son really enjoys his time at nursery, the staff are very caring and encourage his development at every opportunity. The feedback from the staff about the day is very good and also the term and annual reports show just how much he has enjoyed his time at nursery. Our son's speech and vocabulary
have really developed. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending Barfield School Nursery.

Olivia

Olivia Shirley

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2014

Olivia joined the Barfield family in 2014 as a Nursery Key Person. Although her journey originally started in 1999 until 2008 when she attended Barfield as a pupil. She progressed to Owlets Room Leader before being promoted to Deputy Nursery Manager. Before joining Barfield, Olivia was a Nanny and Head Lifeguard at a local Swimming Pool. Olivia supports the Three Peaks team as a Swimming Teacher.


Outside of Barfield, she has just completed her foundation degree in Early Childhood and will be starting her BA (Hons) degree in September 2020. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends and exercising.

Kassie

Kassie Morris

Job Title: Deputy Nursery Manager Joined: 2022

Kassie joined the Barfield family in 2022 as a Nursery Key Person. She became a Room Lead in 2023 and has recently been promoted to Deputy Nursery Manager. Before joining Barfield, she worked as an Early Years Assistant in an Infant School for seven years, and completed her ELSA training at the same time.


Outside of Barfield, Kassie enjoys listening to music, line dancing, cooking and going on walks.
