  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 18 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Old Station Day Care Nursery in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 16 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Day Nursery / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Day Nursery receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.907 for The Old Station Day Care Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (197 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 216 Ratings = 4.907

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Day Nursery to friends and family?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.784 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Old Station Day Care Nursery is based on 16 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 20.4 positive Reviews (102 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 16 Reviews ÷ 20.4 Target = 0.784

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

I have 2 children that are now 4 and 2 both have been at the Old Station Day Nursery from small babies, so I have had interaction with most of the staff and the various age-appropriate rooms. I cannot recommend highly enough, as a part of my job role I often visit other day nursery settings and this nursery always demonstrates best practice. Some of the key areas as a parent that I notice are:
- Children feel like its a home from home, they noticeably feel comfortable and safe
- My kids love going there and are developing really well with the support of the staff
- Activities are varied and lots of additional activities and trips, great to broaden the children's horizons
- Low turnover of staff
- Staff work as a supportive team and help each other
- Staff regularly attend update/ refresher and new training programs
- Freshly cooked healthy meals on site and go above and beyond to accommodate food intolerances that the children have
- Well resourced rooms

The Old Station staff Care Nursery and facilities are absolutely first class. My daughter is extremely well cared for and looks forward to going to Nursery every morning. I am particularly impressed with how professional and attentive all members of staff are and how passionately they attend to their duties every day. The dedication shown by members of management and staff to provide a safe and caring environment for our little one to learn cannot be understated. From a parents point of view, it is comforting to know that we can leave our child in the care of such trustworthy professionals. Top notch across the board.

I have two boys at The Old Station. The younger one has been there since he was 8 months in the baby room and now into toddlers and the older one has moved through several stages (Junior Play Group through to After School) which has given us an insight into all aspects of what The Old Station has to offer.
The staff are always warm and friendly and clearly, a lot of thought goes into the appropriate care for the varying ages of the children attending.
I really feel that not only is The Old Station somewhere safe and pleasant to leave our children but it is also a huge benefit to them. My boys love their nursery family.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

My daughter has attended The Old Station Nursery since February 2015 and my husband and I are extremely happy with the way our daughter is being looked after and cared for. The staff are so friendly and accommodating and nothing is too much bother. I appreciate their effort in helping our daughter meet her development goals and stimulating her with new challenges.
We have noticed such a difference from Christmas in her behaviour and speech. We also appreciate the freshly prepared meals she receives daily and the lovely smell of home cooking as you walk through the door gives you that 'home from home' feeling which is why my daughter loves going as she feels safe in her environment.
Thanks to all the staff for their hard work.

The staff are exceptional, friendly, caring and adored by my children. Facilities are good and activities are well planned, stimulating and enjoyable. Healthy, varied and well balanced food and snacks are provided each day.
My children have grown up attending this nursery and I have no qualms. They have enjoyed the absolute best of the best with regards to daycare available in my locality.

My child's development since attending the Preschool facility at The Old Station has been tremendous. His mild and happy temperament is a testament to the excellent care and teaching style received. The anxiety experienced as a parent when your child is setting out on a schooling journey was soon allayed on evidence of our child's educational development. All the staff are so welcoming and accommodating towards our child. We couldn't be happier with The Old Station.

My daughter attends after school at The Old Station Nursery. Meals are freshly prepared on site and are varied and well balanced. The menu changes regularly to meet all needs and tastes! The staff are very welcoming when you arrive at the nursery. The nursery keeps parents well informed of all information relating to my daughter whilst at the nursery. The activity timetable is fun filled and packed with different activities which keep my daughter stimulated! The outside play area is a great hit with my daughter, she likes to let off steam after being cooped up in a classroom all day at school! I would have no problem in highly recommending The Old Station to family or friends as it has what any parents want "A home from home feeling".

My daughter started attending at 10 months old in 2016. We were given plenty of opportunities to visit the nursery prior to starting and with numerous settling in sessions to help her to familiarise herself with everything. She settled in well with the great support and attention from staff.
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching her develop through the My Nursery Pal app and website. We are always given a thorough feedback about her day including details about what and how much she has eaten, what times her nappy was changed, her sleeping times as well as her activities during the day with daily photos. This is always reassuring. When I collect her, she is always busy playing and always looks happy and excited.

A highly recommended nursery with professional, friendly and approachable staff.

My husband and I visited a few nurseries in the area when we were considering childcare options for our little girl. We loved the warm and homely atmosphere at The Old Station, especially the delicious smell of food cooking as soon as we walked in! From the first day our daughter was welcomed into the nursery and in only three months, she has settled in completely. She is always keen to go to nursery and we can see the positive changes to her character and to her development. She takes part in a variety of activities throughout the week, from artwork to song and rhyme time. The nursery staff are very approachable and have successfully worked with us when changing her routine or when she has been ill. The use of My Nursery Pal software is invaluable as we can check up on what our daughter is doing at any time of the day.
I never worry about our daughter when she is at nursery, I would recommend The Old Station to anyone.

My two boys have been attending the Old Station since they were 2years old. I could not recommend it highly enough. There is a very low turnover of staff and all staff show a genuine desire to care for my boys - in particular, I have a son with special needs and they have always met these needs. The nursery offers a fun, friendly and safe environment for the kids to develop and enjoy their time there. There is always something planned but equally, for those that prefer a quieter environment, those needs are met too. I am reassured that my boys are being well cared for while I am at work.

Friendly homely environment.
All staff are welcoming, pleasant and can't do enough for you.
Children have constant stimulation and attention.
My little boy has allergies and these are catered for with a varied meal plan each day.
I feel at ease leaving my 11 month old son here 4 days per week as he is well cared for.
You can log on daily and review your child's day/activities - I love seeing the daily updates and photos of him playing.

They are very professional in their behaviour and ensure your child is developed and everyone has the latest training to ensure the best care for your children. They are also very supportive of personal situations and try to help and support you throughout your journey with your children.

Before opening the Old Station Nursery, I worked as a qualified nurse for 10 years, working with both babies and small children. I then went on to complete my BTech in childhood studies, while also working as a classroom assistant for 4 years in a primary school. During the time that I working as a classroom assistant, I became more aware of the need for a good quality daycare nursery in the Dromore area. I took the brave decision of leaving my job as classroom assistant and began working on my new project of opening The Old Station Daycare Nursery which opened in April 2000. Within 9 months of opening the nursery, we saw the need for expansion and obtained a modular building to facilitate the demand and doubled our capacity.

I feel I am well qualified to understand the needs of children and I am able to provide a safe, secure and caring environment in which your child will grow as an individual.

I am also a wife and a mother of two grown up girls and when not running the nursery there is nothing I enjoy more than spending time with my family.

I started working in the Old Station as a student back in 2003 I completed my NVQ level 2 in child care then gained employment. I then went on to do my NVQ level 3 in child care. I worked in all the rooms throughout the nursery and thoroughly my time enjoyed each room. I then got promoted to Manager in 2008 I have just recently completed my NVQ 3 in management.

Now the majority of my time is the administration side and the staff training. I still get plenty of opportunities to see the children and spend time with each room every day. I feel it is a real privilege to be part of their lives. I truly do enjoy my job it gives me a great satisfaction being able to see each child and their family grow throughout their time in the nursery.

I am married with two beautiful children. My son loves all the girls in nursery they are like second mummies to him. My daughter will be starting in January when I return to work from maternity leave.

The nursery day is extremely varied but best of all there is never a dull moment and I absolutely love it!

I started working in the Old Station Nursery in September 2004. When I first started working in the nursery I worked with afterschool which I really enjoyed. However, when a position became available for cook I applied for it and was successful. I was extremely delighted as this allowed me to combine my love for working with the children and also my love for cooking. I now cook all the meals for the children and I like to see the pleasure on their faces when I cook them a tasty, nutritious meal. I really enjoy getting involved with helping the children try new foods and talking to them about the foods that I offer. Before taking up the post as resident cook, I completed my food and hygiene course to comply with environmental health standards. At the Old Station Nursery we are proud to have been awarded with a score of 5 on the Hygiene Rating Scheme.

Being a relief member of staff I have been all over the nursery and I enjoy working in the toddler room as they are real wee characters. I have gained my level 2 and 3 in child care since starting in the nursery.
