Scallywags Children's Nursery

My son, now 3.5, has been with Scallywags for 2 years. He has gone from the baby room to Caterpillar then Butterfly area and each transition has been organised to suit his abilities/needs with no stress or upset to him.

The staff are always warm, welcoming and get to know each child's family and support network well. Their connection and rapport with the children is lovely to see.

My son loves the food at Scallywags which is prepared fresh on site. More often than not he will have 2 servings at lunchtime (this never happens with my cooking). The menu variety, snacks and activities involving food (allotment visits etc) has made my son a very well balanced and healthy eater.

I can't fault the management either. They have shown great empathy and understanding into my personal and financial circumstances which emphasise the approach at Scallywags is definitely not a one size fits all.

I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone looking for local childcare.

This is an amazing nursery. My daughter is now in her third year of attending on a full-time basis and she absolutely loves it. Every member of staff is approachable and friendly, they provide educational and fun activities both indoor and outdoor for the children. She loves every one of the nursery teachers and has a fun filled day with all her little friends. I would not hesitate in recommending Scallywags to anyone looking for daycare for their children.

My son is my second child to attend Scallywaggs nursery and he is thriving there! He particularly loves the outdoor area doing “gymnastics” which staff have developed in the area, he also loves exploring the garden and bug hunting! He doesn’t stay for lunch but he loves his daily snacks and he is encouraged to try new foods.

The nursery also has great communication with parents! The staff always take the time to tell you about your child’s day, there’s a private Facebook page where photos can be shared and they are very good at emailing with any information we might need!

I would highly recommend this nursery!

He has no problems leaving me at the door in the morning and there is always a member of staff to welcome us.

My daughter has attended Scallywags for 1 year now and I couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Staff are excellent, show a good effort to take children outdoors and involve them in a variety of different learning topics. The catering facilities seem good enough and offer the children a variety of different foods. The nursery has a good sized outdoor play area also that the children love. All in all, I believe this to be an extremely friendly, safe and well-run nursery.

I have been a member of the Scallywags ‘family’ for over 6 years, my first attended from the age of 9 months and now my daughter is there.

I can’t recommend this service enough. Staff are amazing with the children, and have created a wonderful, loving environment, where the children have safety and freedom to grow and explore.

We have two children that have attended Scallywags from age 1 until their transition into primary school. Both children have had a great experience at Scallywags and enjoyed their time there. The nursery has dedicated outdoor space and also takes the older children on walks around the town and excursions to local parks, etc. Food is cooked on site and although neither of our children is a fussy eater, they have been very happy with the food and snacks they received at the nursery. I would highly recommend Scallywags to any parents looking for a nursery in the Carnoustie area.

My son loves going there, he's made some good friends and he loves all the staff and will chat away about his day.
