The nursery has provided a friendly, safe and encouraging environment for both of our children to prosper in. The staff are generally at the nursery for the long term and have established close bonds with our children which helps as they transition from one stage to another and has also given us peace
of mind that our children are surrounded by familiar and caring faces. We have noticed good and steady progress with their learning and they made sure our eldest child was prepared and confident for leaving nursery to start school. Our children really enjoy the food and its a great help dinner is provided towards the end of the nursery day.

We have been here since my son was 1 years old. Lovely caring staff who have a great relationship with my son and know his quirks. He settled in very quickly and is happy here. Good choice of activities and healthy varied meals.

Doune Terrace is a wonderful nursery with caring staff, a creative curriculum, good processes, and lots of love. Our son joined as a baby and is now a thriving toddler. The team have really supported him throughout transitions and are always looking for new, educational and fun ways to engage the children
in their care. The garden is quite small but the children are often taken out to nearby parks.

Very pleased with our son's time here! The care is very genuine and the commitment to the kids clear. Staffing sometimes seems stretched a bit thin but we love the emphasis on crafting, out door play, local trips and appreciate how staff have handled any situations that have arisen.

We are so happy with this nursery and the care our children receive. The staff are truly exceptional-kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in each child's wellbeing. They take the time to understand individual needs and always make our children feel safe, supported, and valued, which gives us great
peace of mind.

The space is bright, welcoming, and well organised, creating a fantastic environment for both learning and play. We particularly love the outdoor trips, which give the children wonderful opportunities to explore and experience new things.

The menu is healthy and varied, and it's reassuring to know the children are eating nutritious meals each day. The range of activities is also brilliant-swimming, football, and yoga are real highlights and help build confidence and skills.

Our preschool child has come on so much since starting here. It's amazing to see how much they are learning and developing every day.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.728)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.728) out of 10 for Doune Terrace Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.803 for Doune Terrace Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (58 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 4.803
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Doune Terrace Nursery is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 = 3.55
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 number of registered child places is 16. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.375
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Manager Joined: 2012

Hi, I’m Natalie, the Nursery Manager at Doune Terrace Nursery. I began my childcare journey in 2012 and have thoroughly enjoyed progressing through a variety of roles, from Nursery Practitioner to Manager.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in childhood studies from the University of Glasgow, which deepened my understanding of child development and strengthened my ability to apply theory to practice within early years settings.
Creating a warm, caring, and inclusive environment is at the heart of everything I do. I am passionate about ensuring that children, families, and staff all feel supported, valued, and truly part of our nursery community. I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to support and observe children as they grow in confidence during their time with us. Both my team and I are honoured to play a role in these important early stages of their development.
