Mains House Nursery in Durham is 'child-centred' with activities planned around the children’s interests so that they really engage with all the activities and opportunities available.

Staff hope every child in their care develops a real love of learning.

All of the nursery's early years practitioners are qualified to at least Level 3 in Childcare, and all hold a Paediatric First Aid Certificate.

Staff support parents with advice and guidance.

The nursery offers funded play and learn sessions for eligible two year olds and nursery education grant places for three and four year olds of 15 and 30 hours.

The Staff are amazing, they are very good with the children, supporting their learning and development but in a fun way that the children really engage with it. The nursery is clean and recently had work to update every room in the building. The space outside is small, however it is packed with activities
for the children to do, as well as an outside classroom. They have recently required an allotment, which the children love to go to help and learn about plants and vegetable growth as well as insects.

Where shall I start, if I could give more than 5 stars I would. Mains House Nursery is not just a nursery it is also a family and the love for the children shines through so much.
I can't recommend Mains House enough they don't just help your child to flourish they support the family too.

This is a great, friendly and professional nursery, that is always coming up with new ideas to keep the children entertained and learning through play. Both of my children go there, one for 2 full days per week and the other for breakfast/after school club a couple of times a week. It's so handy being
close to the Primary School. Both children really enjoy it and are very fond of the staff, who do a great job and keep you informed and involved in what's happening.

This is a fantastic nursery that have brought my children on with leaps and bounds. My 3 year old is a summer born and spent the majority of his short years in lockdown and welcoming a younger sibling at just 19 months old. He was struggling with his confidence, social anxiety and with his speech. With
mummy’s hands tied up with the new baby, pandemic restrictions and daddy working away, we decided to enrol him in nursery where we used to live in Birmingham. After 8 months there wasn’t much improvement and we had decided to relocate to the lovely NE to be with daddy. Well, that meant a new nursery and this has got to be the best part of our move. He has been at Mains House Nursery for 9 months and he is a different child. He is confident, sociable, and can talk for England. He has always been very clever but he struggled with the confidence to show and articulate it. Now he shows off all his knowledge to everyone he meets. His shyness is disappearing but mostly he’s so happy at Mains House!

Our youngest started here at 13 months old. He was very attached to mummy and struggled with separation anxiety but the staff here are like a second family, supporting him through it and within 5 minutes of arriving he was always happy again. He’s now almost 2 and he’s always excited going into nursery,
walks straight in and doesn’t even look back to say bye! It’s like he owns the place haha! He loves singing and dancing and always shows off new actions to nursery rhymes he’s learned at nursery. He loves the outdoors so it’s great that they take regular trips to their very own allotment, trips to shops and other businesses and spend a lot of time in the garden. The staff are very affectionate, highly skilled and have everything in place to bring out the best in the children that attend here. The menus have a very 5 Star restaurant vibe and how lucky they are to have a pudding after lunch and dinner. We’re very jealous ha!

My daughter has been coming to this nursery for over 7 months. The staff are friendly and welcoming, my daughter is so happy and enjoys all the variety of activities they do. She loves the allotment and trips to the library.

Mains House Nursery is such an amazing nursery, I cannot fault it at all. All of the staff are really caring and go above and beyond for the children. My son no longer goes here, but has such fond memories from his years at Mains House Nursery.

Mains House is a fantastic nursery. All staff know and care about every single child at the nursery. My daughter loves going to the nursery every day. Communication between the nursery and families is wonderful. There are daily diary updates, regular observations/golden moments on the app, parents'
evenings, and stay-and-play opportunities. As well as this, staff give a recap of the day at the door when parents collect their children. I feel confident that my daughter is getting the enrichment she needs and has fun each and every single day. She has come on so much with her talking and her confidence, especially in sensory activities. She loves the food and often eats more than one serving! We couldn't be happier with Mains House and all of its fantastic staff.

My child has learned how to socialise with other people and has become more independent and confident. My child's key worker informs me in detail about things I ask them and advises me on what will be done to help progress my child further. I have no concerns with my child attending here.

Our little girl has been attending Mains House Nursery since she was 11 months old. As a parent, this nursery is amazing, and it really has become a second home for her, which is a huge comfort for us, as working parents. All the staff are really personal and approachable, and truly go above and beyond
making sure all our daughter's needs are catered for. Her development has come on leaps and bounds, and the range of activities on offer is brilliant, not to mention the broad range of foods/meals on offer. There is a true family feel with Mains House Nursery and we really wouldn't want to send her anywhere else.

My girls love the nursery, they have helped them so much with social skills. They started last year and really struggled due to being lockdown babies. They are like different children now and have nothing but nice things to say about all the staff. My children have been potty training and the ladies
have been doing the same techniques at nursery and we have nearly got out the nappies from the joint effort. Nothing is ever a problem for the nursery and it’s the best one I’ve ever come across. They make sure they catch you every day just to let you know how the day has been and that’s a lovely touch that I appreciate.
