Jack and Jill Nursery Ltd makes the most of a charming three-storey Victorian house, converted to suit a vibrant early years learning environment.

Quality resources have been put together to inspire children's interests, imaginations, and abilities, with staff committed to developing their full potential.

The team work closely with parents, looking for feedback on progress and communicating about any activities children enjoy and can do at home.

All staff members are fully qualified to a minimum of NVQ L3, all have up to date First Aid and Safeguarding training. All staff go on regular training courses to keep their knowledge up to date on various topics.

All staff are signed up to the DBS checking scheme and are checked regularly to ensure they have a clean police record.

All meals and snacks are completely free of charge and they also provide nappies, nappy wipes and cream, free of charge too.

Lunches (12pm-1pm) are freshly prepared and home cooked, and include such dishes as shepherd's pie, sweet potato and spinach bake, salmon pasta, turkey dinner, creamy chicken and pesto pasta, carrot and coriander soup - to name but a few!

Snacks (10:30am and 2:30pm) consist of fresh fruit and vegetables.

Tea (4pm) is either muffins with ham, crumpets and jam, ham and cheese pinwheels, bagels and cream cheese, spring rolls and vegetable samosas or pizza toast.

Both meals also have a small dessert also (whippy mousse, jelly, yoghurt, rice pudding, fromage frais, ice cream etc).

Cannot fault Jack and Jill’s nursery. They are a huge, positive part of my daughter's life. Amazing environment, lovely staff, fab resources and a real sense of ‘family’ as soon as you walk through the door. I do not trust anyone more than I trust these guys - and the bonus is my daughter absolutely

This nursery is fantastic! They are so lovely and patient with my son who's been going since he was 7 months old. He has come along so well with the help from all the staff who have been really understanding of his needs.
Every member of staff is caring, cheerful and kind every day and they really
do care about my son and I trust them to look after him.
He is always happy and really enjoys his time at nursery, especially the food!!
Big thanks to everyone who makes this place such an amazing place, wouldn't leave my baby with anyone else.

My son has been going to Jack and Jill Nursery for six months. When he started he was very nervous of leaving me but the staff managed this with real care and sensitivity. They reassured him (and me!) and used lots of positive techniques to help him settle. Six months on he now smiles when he realises
we’re on the way to nursery and has formed great bonds with his key worker and other helpers.
His confidence has also had a massive boost, when we are out I notice that compared with his peers he’s more friendly with other children and keen to chat to people. He loves the activities he has done so far too, and is developing new skills and words each month.
A wonderful nursery setting with caring staff and a lovely setting.

I couldn't be happier with the care my daughter receives from Jack and Jill Nursery. When I leave I know she is going to be well cared for and is going to have fun with her carers and friends. I am sure they have had a big impact with her development and I am always kept up to date with what she is

My little girl started here a few months ago and although it has taken her a while to settle in as she only attends a couple of times a week, the staff here have been so kind and patient with her giving her lots of cuddles. It really has paid off as she has built such a good relationship with them.
The areas are always kept clean and activities varied, my little girl loves playing in the outdoor space which they do regularly! Her progress and development is reviewed frequently. All staff are friendly and professional, they are a credit to the nursery.

Firstly I would like to start by praising how good the staff are at this nursery. It really is truly lovely how much these ladies care for these children! I was really nervous for my only child to be starting nursery and after being recommended by a friend, we went to visit and to get a feel for what
it was like.
I loved it! It has such a warm atmosphere so we thought that’s it, we will start him there. They welcomed my little boy and made him feel comfortable and they made me feel comfortable as well.
I just want to mention that recently I found out my little boy is allergic to quite a lot of foods. The staff and the manager couldn’t have been better adapting to this, they’ve really worked with me and my partner to find alternatives, even though it’s quite a wide range of foods he can’t eat! Well done to them.

Since my baby has been going to Jack and Jill Nursery her confidence and development have really come on. The staff are lovely and she has developed good bonds with them and her key worker. She takes part in a variety of creative and stimulating activities and always enjoys wholesome home-cooked meals
while she is there.
She is happy and is becoming more sociable with the other babies and toddlers in her room. I would definitely recommend this nursery to other parents. The staff are professional, helpful and friendly and because it is a family run nursery there is a relaxed, homely atmosphere which helps the children to settle in quickly and puts them at ease.

It'll be 4 years in spring since the ladies took care of our son for 3 days a week. We wouldn't be anywhere else. Home cooked food, exciting syllabus, fun activities are all set in a family home and the most important thing, love. Our son feels safe, happy and most importantly for us as mum and dad,
we feel he is safe and loved. We don't need to stress at work or call at lunchtime to see how he is. If you want the best in Carlisle, there is nowhere else to go.
The added bonus is the nursery is set in a beautiful old family home in a very quiet and peaceful part of Stanwix, just north of the river.
10/10, A* or whatever the format rating is, they get it.

Since attending this nursery my child has really flourished. I find the staff are very nurturing and that they genuinely enjoy their work. Management are welcoming and helpful and as it is a family run nursery there is a nice, relaxed atmosphere.
She settled in quickly and is making good relationships
with the staff and other babies in her room. I receive daily updates about the activities she has been involved in, her personal care and her nutrition intake, which is really useful.
I have received a development review on how my child is progressing and goals that they are helping her to work towards with advice on how we can be supporting her at home which I have been able to put into practice.


She previously attended a different nursery where she was miserable however she has had a totally different and positive experience at Jack and Jill's and really enjoys her time there. I would definitely recommend this nursery to others as they provide an excellent service.

Since starting the nursery our baby daughter has flourished. It’s a very friendly, welcoming place to drop her off.
The staff are always on hand to answer any questions.
The meals are home cooked and delicious.
The staff are very keen on sticking to home routines which is very reassuring for me
as a parent.
We get regular updates on her development and every evening when we pick her up we get a break down of what she has done that day.

Our daughter has been attending the setting since she was 6 months old.


We could not be more pleased with how she has settled in and how much she has developed in that time.


The staff are extremely welcoming and always happy to answer any questions.


It doesn’t feel like I am leaving her in

a nursery setting, more like dropping her off with friends.


Leaving her in such a friendly, homely setting really took away one of the major stresses of returning to work.

All the staff and manager are always friendly and helpful, lately, the manager has been giving excellent advice regarding an issue with my grandson. The short time that my son has been at this nursery, he has come on so much regarding playing with other children, making an effort to make new sounds and has become quite helpful at home.
It is always a pleasant atmosphere when my wife drops him off and same again when I pick him up. They have a great
team there and for once I can't fault them at all (everywhere I go, I find faults is what I mean).
The nursery seems clean and the children never look unkempt.

It is a huge decision as a first-time parent choosing a nursery. I am so happy that my friend recommended Jack and Jill Nursery for our son. He has been attending since he was 13 months and has progressed so much socially. I have no hesitation in recommending Jack and Jill Nursery. My son loves all
the home cooked meals and healthy snacks and I love the fact that due to its size, it is a real home from home and he knows all the staff really well. He also loves the range of different activities and has settled in really quickly, so much so he even said his first words there.

My daughter has loved coming to Jack and Jill every day. She always has lots to tell in the evening and always seems excited. They spend plenty of time outside and always make sure the children are appropriately dressed (hat, wellies...) As a parent, I love the advice that is given to us regarding her
development. The tripod grip has worked wonders with her mark making and all the support you give us during potty training is very much appreciated. The file you keep with the advice for parents if very useful. Thank you for everything.

I am extremely impressed with the service provided by Jack and Jill Nursery in Carlisle. My little girl settled in really quickly and loves attending. The staff are genuinely enthused at dealing with the little ones and the spark that they all have has a positive effect on the children.

Both of my daughters went to Jack and Jill for a combined total of 9 years and we cannot praise them enough, our girls loved every minute and their self-confidence grew no end. The management and staff are excellent and the setting provides lots of fun for the kids both inside and in the newly refurbished

Charlotte is our Toddler Room manager and a Key Person for the 2-year-olds.


She is first Aid trained and holds a current certificate.

Tania

Tania Fernandes

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2019

Tania is a Deputy Manager and Baby Room Manager.


She is a Key Person for some children under 2 years.


Tania gained her NVQ Level 3 Qualification in 2012 and is currently completing her Level 4, and will gain it in early 2022.


She is First Aid trained and has her current certificate.

Natassja

Natassja Murray

Job Title: 3rd In Charge Joined: 2024

Natassja has worked for us on previous occasions and has since reprised her role with us in the management team from January 2024.


She is fully qualified and gained her level 3 qualification in July 2011.


Natassja is a Key Person for some of the babies.


She is First Aid trained and holds a current certificate.
