I could not speak highly enough about the Cedars Nursery - Newcastle. The overall care is excellent, each and one of the carers are wonderful with the children, they teach them and look after them with so much patience and love. The nursery itself is based in a big building, with big rooms with different
areas for the kids to play and develop. It also has a wonderful garden with lots of corners for different activities. The food is home made every day in the nursery kitchen. They have a wide menu with well balanced and nutritious meals. Both of my children are looking forward to going to nursery every day and I leave them knowing they are in a safe place. I would definitely recommend this nursery.

I would expect more learning activities for pre-school children. Staff are always lovely, polite and helpful.

I can't praise the staff at The Cedars Newcastle enough. My son had a wobble about attending nursery earlier in the year due to us expecting a baby and the staff worked so hard to get him back to loving the place.

We chose this nursery due to them being able to accommodate our family work shift

patterns and nothing is ever a bother about the rota. It's very hard to find a nursery who will accept a rota place and we couldn't be happier with our choice.

Our son now doesn't want to leave at the end of the day as he loves the outdoor space so much he just wants to stay with his friends.

The Cedars Nursery offers exceptionally high quality childcare with professional staff who are passionate about providing a loving, friendly and safe environment for the children. The range of activities, learning resources and meals on offer are of an excellent standard, and the huge garden enables
the children to explore and enjoy the outdoors freely and safely. My three children all went to The Cedars Nursery and loved every minute of it. I would highly recommend The Cedars Nursery.

My daughter has been coming to the nursery from being a baby and my son also came until he was 5 yrs old. I can not say enough praise for the staff and the way they help the children settle in. My daughter loves coming to nursery to see her baby friends and loves playing in the extensive garden. My
son had behavioural difficulties and although they had to deal with some difficult situations, they never stopped him from coming to nursery. My son now attends school with no problems and I feel nursery prepared him for the school environment. He had no problems settling in. Thank you to all the staff who look after my daughter and my son when he was at Cedars.

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Our two little girls (1&2) attend Cedars and we have been very happy with the standard of care, facilities, and staff members there. The nursery itself is large with ample play and learning areas. The garden is very large, and the children spend much of the day outside if the weather is good. The staff
are very friendly and have been responsive to our requirements - for example, introducing potty training. There is an emphasis on fun and play, and the staff create a 'home-from-home' feeling which has really helped our two year old develop into a confident and happy little girl. With 3 meals per day included and a significant discount for full-time care (5 days for the price of 4), plus a sibling discount, we have also found Cedars to be good value for money compared to other nurseries.

My little one who is 4 is attending this nursery for more than a year now.
On a whole the nursery is ok. I have personally found school attached nurseries to be more productive education wise. This is more of a daycare. I found majority of the staff to be polite and welcoming but a few of them are
really uncooperative. In my one year experience in this nursery I have not seen them arrange any trips for the students, which I feel is also integral in the overall growth of a child.

My daughter has been going to cedars since she was 9 months old, now as a four year old little girl she has flourished at the nursery. The staff are very welcoming and really take the time to know each child. Now in her last year at Cedars I know there will be tears alround when the time comes to leave.
I am confident the nursery has set her up to a great start at school.

My daughter attended this nursery part time as did her friend.
I chose this nursery because it was close to my house but had many problems. In the beginning they lost my application form so I had to send in another one.
On a daily basis, the staff did not seem very engaging and many times we didn't
sign her in on the register as they said they would do it later.
As my daughter took a while to settle in I had the chance to wait outside and witness the way the nursery was run.
They hardly took activities out and set them up on tables but did during Ofsted inspection week!
At hometime my daughter was outside where they have a large space but staff always sat on the step whilst the children ran around I don't know how they could see them from where they were sitting.
I even saw a child fall over because water from water tray had not been mopped up whilst two members of staff were sitting nearby.
I only ever saw the head teacher once when my daughter returned from a trip.
I've heard similar experiences from two other parents of this nursery.
It's a shame because at Christmas and Easter the staff made an effort and did activities if only they would do this for the rest of the year!

Current Review Score: 8.0 (7.986)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (7.986) out of 10 for The Cedars Nursery - Newcastle is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.917 for The Cedars Nursery - Newcastle is calculated as follows: ( (11 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.917
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.069 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Cedars Nursery - Newcastle is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 number of registered child places is 14.4. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.4 = 0.069
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
