My grandson has spent 3 very happy years at the Lyme Nursery. He has made visible progress in his social, physical and verbal development, which has been encouraged by the caring staff. I love to see the daily photographs that they send of a happy, smiling boy engaged in a wide range of activities.
This nursery is the best I have ever seen. Highly recommended.

Fantastic and friendly nursery, we felt it was right when we first walked in. Such a homely feeling and all the children know the staff and vice versa, just like a big family.

Our little one settled in with the help of the taster days, the lovely daily messages and photos make us feel such proud

parents. We can't wait for the next few years to see how he grows up here.

Would highly recommend, just go and take a look and you get such a warm feeling when you go around

We couldn't be happier with our choice of nursery, the staff are amazing and so personable and are so invested in the children and their development. Our little girl has come on so much since being there and we know she is being taken care of and nurtured everyday!

The nursery is a fab homely environment for my little boy to come to compliment his early years experiences at home. The staff are warm, friendly and love him and I can't ask for more from them. They are outside as much as possible which we love, he has made some great relationships woth

Our daughter started at The Lyme in October and we have had a really positive experience so far. Baby struggled during her settling-in sessions and although we know this is normal, it was still a little anxiety-inducing! The calm and reassuring nature of the baby room staff really helped to put us at
ease and we knew our child was in good hands. She has since settled in really well and we love seeing the pictures and updates throughout the day. A special mention to two staff members in particular who have been brilliant!

The nursery and all the staff are amazing. From the first look around I felt at home and comfortable and knew that my child would be cared for to a high standard, this feeling remains the same. The girls in the baby room ensure that I'm kept up to date throughout the day and clearly care a lot about
the children in their care. I couldn't be happier with the nursery!

The Lyme Nursery was far more than a place for my boys to attend whilst I worked - it was their second home and they were taken care of like family members of the incredible staff. The way the staff communicate, nurture and love the children is evident in how happy my boys always were. They both grew
and developed in a safe and secure environment where they could thrive. I can never recommend this nursery highly enough. It's been so hard when the boys grew old enough to go to school but the way they have been prepared by the nursery has meant they continue to thrive in the school environment. Thank you so much to the Lyme Nursery - I miss you all so much - and am forever appreciative of all you did for both of my boys.

My son has been going here for the past year and he really enjoys the time he spends there. The staff are very caring and attentive not just to him but also address our concerns as parents. Happy to have picked this nursery for him.

My son attended the Lyme nursery for 3 years and I couldn't have asked for a better setting for him. He was very shy when he started but came on leaps and bounds during his time here. It is an amazing nursery and the staff are very caring and nurturing. I felt they really looked after his needs and
this really helped him, especially during the settling-in period. The outdoor space they have is beautiful with lots of lovely play equipment and room to run around. I would definitely recommend this nursery to any parent who is looking for a placement for their child.

My son has recently started at the Lymes nursery and he is in the baby room. For the past two months he has really enjoyed going into nursery and has always got a big smile on his little face. The staff are super friendly and truly just amazing. I couldn't have a better group of girls to look after
my little man. As my little boy is only 10 months old, it's so relieving knowing that he's in the best hands! At pick-ups, the girls are so great at giving his handovers and I'm so pleased to know how much he gets up to throughout his day and the new app is truly amazing. I get to see him play with his little friends and he has always got a big smile on his face in each photo they take. Every time that I come to collect him, I can't stop praising the baby room staff as they are simply amazing with looking after all the little ones and they treat them all with so much care. My little man has recently started walking and they give him so much praise it honestly warms my heart!

The nursery went out of their way to accommodate several settling-in days for my daughter, both before and after Christmas, as she was due to start in the middle of January. Even after the first week, I could tell my daughter loved going as she was so excited to walk through the door every morning.
The staff are all wonderful and so informative on pick-up. The outdoor area is what sold me on the nursery and I can tell my daughter loves it too from the updates. The new parents' app is amazing and I love checking up on what she has been doing all day along with the photos. Overall, I am so glad we picked this nursery for our little girl and love watching her develop with the help of the girls. Can’t wait to see what her next steps are going to be.

The Lyme nursery is such a wonderful place. My son has attended for 3 years and is about to graduate to big school and we're so sad to be saying goodbye! The nursery has a friendly atmosphere and all the staff know the kids individually which I think is really good. The teachers and other staff are
intuitive and warm, really supportive of the parents as well as the kids and they are just lovely. My son's past and present teachers have gone above and beyond to help and nurture his learning journey and we've been able to easily work together to help his progress in all areas, which hasn't always been plain sailing! We've all been quite emotional looking back to when he first started and how far he's come! Facilities are great, especially the gardens and maze which the children go in most days, weather permitting of course! There's a really safe and calm sort of "family" feel to The Lyme and I've been able to trust them with my most precious treasure. Thank you guys so much!

Fantastic nursery - we have never had a problem. They have been amazing and are currently taking our little boy in on extra days, which has helped us more than they probably know. Fantastic nursery - always happy, welcoming staff too!

Since our daughter joined the nursery earlier this year, we've had a fantastic experience. All the staff have been brilliant and our daughter loves going into the baby room every time. Special mention to the new manager of the baby room who is our daughter's favourite! The updates we receive and the
pictures throughout the day are great and really bring a smile to my and my partner's faces.

Poor management has unfortunately created a closed culture within an otherwise well-run establishment. The staff rotation has had a detrimental effect on my daughter's confidence and willingness to attend. Numerous poor basic practice has been reported to the management (one such occasion was a soiled
nappy left on for at least 15 minutes) due to poor communication between staff. This resulted in our daughter suffering intense nappy rash and burning of the skin. There have been multiple occasions where staffing levels are evidently below the required ratio per house policy. The main concern for this Nursery is staffing levels. There rarely appears to be a full staff team and staff rotation is constant. Therefore I would not recommend this Nursery to anybody with a child that requires consistency and routine.

Reply from Sabrina Ecclestone, Nursery Manager at The Lyme Nursery

Thank you for your feedback. Our biannual Quality of Service survey receives over 90% satisfaction but to maintain this standard we always avoid complacency and endeavour to improve. We are sorry regarding your daughter's nappy incident; we immediately dealt with the issue as discussed during our meeting and we informed you about the implemented procedure to ensure your satisfaction and your daughter's wellbeing. We closely monitor all the children and have regular nappy checks and changes throughout the day.
Staffing arrangements have been extremely difficult in the last two years due to Covid isolation rules. Occasionally, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have to rotate our staff, however, the children's safety is paramount and the Nursery will always comply with the Ofsted requirements.
We are sorry that you feel unsatisfied with the Nursery but we are pleased to see your daughter enjoying her time here and is happy during her sessions.

A great nursery with a home-from-home feel. Staff are super friendly and care for the children as their own, with amazing, home-cooked food and a fantastic outside area. Traditional features such as baby carriages for nap time, alongside spacious Victorian rooms. Children have access to an abundance
of experiences and activities.

The Lyme Nursery has been a wonderful choice for us and our daughter. At no point have I ever felt that anything has been too much trouble for them. I email all the time with numerous questions and they always get back to me. They meet our needs and most importantly, my daughter's needs, without fail.
Our little girl is thriving. She loves attending the Lyme, she talks about the staff and the other children all of the time.

Our child has been to the Lyme Nursery since before his first birthday. We have had such a happy experience with the Lyme Nursery that we have delayed putting our child into school until the last minute. The care, attention and dedication from these wonderful people - throughout a global pandemic, no
less - has been inspiring. The highest praise I can give is that we trust the Lyme Nursery with our most treasured, precious and miracle child.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.641)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.641) out of 10 for The Lyme Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.991 for The Lyme Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (107 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.991

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Lyme Nursery is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 number of registered child places is 12. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.75

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
