24 Hoe Street, The Hoe, Plymouth PL1 2JA
The Margaret McMillan Nursery School was opened by Lady Astor in 1935 as a non profit making charitable trust. The nursery is immensely proud of their Ofsted status of ‘Outstanding’ which they have held for 5 years. Owners consider this to be a reflection of experienced, highly qualified staff, stimulating environment and ongoing determination to provide a meaningful learning experience for all children.
Staff uphold traditional values and are fully engaged in the pursuit of excellence. The nursery provides a unique, safe, welcoming and inclusive environment designed to encourage young children from birth to five years to grow in confidence and independence and develop their creativity.
The children of Margaret McMillan's are fortunate to have the use of an extensive, secluded and very secure garden. Many parents have stated, “This looks like a child's paradise", or "It's like the secret garden". Every effort is made to ensure that the children spend some time in the garden during their day at nursery.
Ofsted have commented that ‘children are exceptionally well cared for in the nursery’, ‘the provision is outstanding with children who thrive in the secure, enabling environment’, statements which they wholeheartedly endorse and promote in everything that they do.
