The beautiful hdc Dartington Nursery in Totnes is nestled between Dartmoor and the South Devon coastline. All rooms within the nursery have a hygge-inspired decor, helping children to feel comfortable and secure in a home-from-home environment.

The baby areas are spacious and lead directly onto a private decking area, overlooking the garden which provides plenty of fresh air and free movement. This room is carefully structured, to allow for quiet spaces made for sleeping and relaxation, as well as suitable spaces and equipment to encourage messy play.

The Meadow Room is for children approaching 2 years old and is equipped with a large variety of resources and natural objects to encourage your child's curiosity. There is a large garden area, designed to promote outdoor play, and to encourage an active lifestyle where the children can take part in activities such as running around, cycling, and much more.

In the Forest Room, children will join as they near three years old. They will experience a mix of child-led and adult-led activities, encouraging a holistic approach to learning, whilst developing their knowledge on food and the environment. Promoting a healthy lifestyle at Dartington Nursery is incredibly important, so the team encourage spending time outdoors and provide children with the opportunity to grow their own vegetables in the large outdoor garden.

The beautiful Tree Tops room is the last stop before your child goes to Primary School. The daily activities are specially designed to get your child ready for a more independent life. The team focus on providing support to families and children before, during and after the transition to school takes place.

The nursery offers exceptional care, enriched by unique learning opportunities for your child. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, helping to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.

Our daughter loves going to nursery here, she often runs in beaming and her language and social skills have really blossomed since being in the toddler room. We are impressed by the level of care and engagement of all the people working with her. We also love the amount of outdoor space for each room
as well as well as being able to park outside to drop off / get there quickly when she was settling in. Delighted it’s becoming a living wage employer, I would recommend this nursery every time.

We have sent both our children to hdc Dartington and our youngest daughter is now in the toddler room. We have had a great experience of the nursery. Lovely food and caring staff who give really good hand overs and who we trust with our children. I would be really happy to recommend them.

My daughter has been attending Humpty Dumpty nursery from when she was about fourteen months. We have always been made so welcome and all transitions have been handled so well. Especially considering the current restrictions in place. She loves the food and is always talking about her key worker at
home. The app the nursery use is amazing and I love being able to check on her throughout the day as to what she is eating or how much sleep she has had.
Couldn’t have chosen a better nursery that my daughter is always excited to return to.

We were nervous about sending our 18-month old to nursery, but when we first visited hdc and saw the staff cuddling the babies to sleep we were so impressed. Our daughter loves going to nursery - and even through the Covid disruptions hdc has been reliable, compassionate and communicative. hdc has played
a huge and positive part of our lives and we have been so grateful to the staff for their kindness, professionalism and exceptional care of all the children (and thus their families).

Sensible nursery, especially during Covid pandemic. Staff genuinely seem to enjoy my daughter's company. Menu varied, healthy and appropriate, with good amount of vegetarian even for 'non vegetarians'. Good outdoor space for toddlers.

My son has taken a little while to adjust and settle into nursery, however the girls have worked tirelessly to make him feel happy and supported. He always comes home happy and full of beans, they can even get him to eat food that he refuses at home! Love the set up and all the outside space, great
communication between nursery and parents. Would highly recommend.

We're really happy we have this nursery just around the corner from us. The staff are really friendly and supportive. They were especially patient and supportive with us through our daughter's settling in period. We were able to take our time with the settling process which meant a lot to us. The outdoor

hdc Dartington is a wonderful nursery setting and my son is incredibly happy there. The staff are friendly and fully engaged with my son’s welfare and development, right up to management level. My son has attended since he was eleven months and his transition from the baby room to the toddler room was
managed really positively. My son always comes home excited to tell me about what he has been up to. The range of activities is brilliant and the outdoor space is a real bonus. Lovely range of food provided and it always amazes me the things my son will eat there that he won’t eat at home!

I love hdc Dartington childcare, my son has been going there since he was sixteen months so has been in the baby, toddler and preschool room and I can’t fault anything. Due to the pandemic, he was off nursery from November to March. I was really worried about his return but both him and the staff have
been amazing. They let me stagger him back in and every day he comes home and tells me how much he loves nursery. Thank you to everyone there.

Lovely key workers in the baby room, my child found it easy to settle in and built a great relationship with their key worker. Unable to see anything other than the front due to Covid-19. The only frustration is the car park at pickup, which is difficult to rectify.

I cannot recommend this nursery enough. Our son joined at one years old and has been at hdc Dartington for sixteen months now and has thrived. The staff are so lovely and supportive, especially during the stress of Covid-19 and whilst my son underwent surgery for glue ear.
