hdc's Dartmouth provides a safe, nurturing, stimulating environment, offering a perfect start for your child’s learning journey. The nursery offers exceptional care, enriched by unique learning opportunities for your child. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, helping to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.

In the Under 2's room, you will find a spacious and calm space with plenty of windows and light with a private deck that allows for fresh air. As your child becomes more independent, emphasis on child-centred practice and growth will give them the self-reliance and confidence to thrive. Their nursery educators enable active learning based on play and exploration. The Toddler Room has key areas and activities to capture the essential "learning in the moment". The room has plenty of natural light and the Toddler Room also has its own deck area to allow for fresh air and sunshine. As children approach their third birthday, with discussions with parents/carers, they will start a transition period into the nursery's Preschool Room. In their HDC Preschool Room, they focus on both prime and specific areas of learning – communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, expressive arts and design.

The nursery focuses on ensuring that their leavers are fully prepared for starting Reception at their chosen primary school. They have excellent links with the local primary schools and liaise with schools and parents to ensure that your child's transition is as smooth as possible.

The nursery proudly offers a 5% discount to NHS, The Britannia Royal Naval College, The Medical Practice (Victoria Road), Dartmouth Clinic (Mayors Avenue), Torbay Hospital and Totnes Community Hospital workers.

My child is always happy, smiley and excited to go to nursery. I feel happy and comfortable leaving him with his nursery workers while I’m at work.
I’m always kept well informed as to what he's been up to during the day.
The staff supports and encourages development, learning and play. I feel a wide
range of engaging activities are offered and explored weekly.
If there have been any concerns or issues they have always been dealt with in a kind, caring but professional manner. I would highly recommend HDC to other parents.

Friendly and caring staff. We always appreciate the feedback at the end of the day and thankfully most of the time to say it's been a good day. I like seeing the updates on the app in the daytime, especially with food and sleep. Overall very pleased.

Since my child started last year, he has thrived in the setting. He runs in every morning and is making more friends. Every member of staff is so kind and professional. Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a nursery for their child.

The team within Dartmouth are wonderful. Our daughter is from a military family, so we move around a bit. The toddler room are kind, welcoming, engaging and has supported our daughter's development as a 2-year-old amazingly. She goes in happy and comes out happy! That is all I need. Communication is
good, handing over a summary of her day at nursery. The manager is reassuring, approachable and accommodating which reflects in her team! Amazing team! Thank you.

I was a German exchange officer in Dartmouth and my daughter enjoyed hdc Dartmouth Day Nursery for two and a half years. The staff always acted highly professionally and politely. My daughter had surgery following hearing problems and hdc set up a special individual programme to further enhance her
bilingual development. When we left Dartmouth, English was her primary language thanks to the whole of the strong performing nursery staff. Especially the use of the app is absolutely state of the art and the German nursery she is going to now doesn't even consider a digitalised option like this. The key worker principle made perfect sense and the way how it was executed helped us extremely well to raise our daughter in these two and a half years abroad. The timings are super flexible and the staff always found a way to integrate my daughter straight away each day. This nursery is definitely our top recommendation and the goodbye situation there was the only one that made me cry when we left the UK.

We've been delighted with hdc Dartmouth. Our daughter loves being there, and all the staff have been wonderful with her. They helped her settle really easily, and she's so excited to go in the morning, which is wonderful to see. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

It's a lovely nursery. Always feel welcomed by the staff when we come to pick our granddaughter up. She loves it up there with all the staff and children. She talks to us about staff and that she has been playing with the boys and girls.

Our child has been in the baby and toddler room. The team have always been very caring and really seem to enjoy the work and being around the children. The activities are wide ranging and fun, the facilities are good.

A very positive nursery environment for my daughter. The varied stimulation really interests my child and these help improve her skills in many areas. Messy play is great as I don't do this at home. The staff are always very friendly. The option to do half days would be very handy.

My daughter started at the beginning of this year at hdc - Dartmouth. They have been absolutely fantastic right the way through from enquiry and admission. The manager and staff have been incredibly helpful and supportive in meeting my child's additional needs. As a nursery, they are very child focused
and provide lots of hands on play and outdoor activities. They are very good at communicating with parents and keeping us updated regularly with observations and developmental progress. I am very happy with this nursery and my daughter absolutely loves it. She is always very happy and the staff are incredible with her.

Hdc Dartmouth have been just brilliant. They've made us as a family so welcome. Our two boys settled so well, great communication, lovely food and lots of activities. Really lovely place for small people to be!

Staff turnover is reasonably high, but they are always friendly. Nutritionally there is over usage of bulky products such as legumes and the day-to-day menu isn't particularly varied.
Outdoor and indoor spaces are good and well-used.
I have marked cleanliness as low, the nursery looks clean but the
transmission of infection is relatively high.

I can't recommend this nursery highly enough. Both our kids have been at hdc Dartmouth
since they were younger than one and the staff have been consistently caring, responsive, thoughtful and creative. The activities they do there are great - lots of messy and outdoor play. The staff are always ready
to meet the children where they are and develop a learning and caring plan that's best for them.

Hdc Dartmouth is a very good nursery. My daughter has come a long way since joining and loves attending. The staff and management are very informative, helpful and always keep parents up to date on events, children's progress, sleep, eating etc. which I like. The food menu is amazing with a variety
of different food available. My daughter loves being outside and she is able to be this at nursery which I think is really good.

Our daughter goes to nursery here, she’s now twenty months old and she absolutely loves it. She always had so much fun and is learning lots of new things fast. We also get updates throughout the day via the app about what she’s been up to, what she has eaten and if she has slept. The staff are so friendly
and welcoming. I would one hundred percent recommend, thank you for everything you do!
