Abbey School Nursery provides a rich and stimulating early years environment that has been designed to support children to thrive and become happy, confident learners through a wide variety of activities and experiences guided by a well-established curriculum.

The spacious nursery is equipped with carefully chosen resources that support every aspect of a child’s development during these crucial first years. Each child is valued as an individual, with a strong focus on fostering independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Whenever possible, especially in the warmer months, children spend time exploring the large and engaging outdoor areas, which are designed for play in all seasons. The nursery even grows its own produce, which is used in school lunches, giving children and their families the chance to enjoy fresh vegetables they have helped cultivate.

The nursery’s educational programme has been designed by the Principal, a lifelong educationalist and early-years Ofsted Inspector. This carefully developed approach is brought to life by the dedicated Head of Nursery and delivered with care and expertise by the experienced staff team.

With this strong foundation of professional support and nurturing care, families can be confident that every child at Abbey School Nursery receives the very best start to their early-years education.

The Abbey Nursery is excellent in every aspect, and the care and affection they receive is of the highest standard. All the staff are kind and nothing is ever too much trouble.
We are well informed with feedback on a daily basis. My granddaughter has come on so much with her development, we couldn't
be happier. I would highly recommend.

I'm very pleased with the care that the staff at the abbey have given to my child, he has recently only started and I can't fault them very attentive and great communication. My little boy has come on leaps and bounds since starting and I have seen a great improvement with his sleep pattern at home.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
After lots of recommendations on the Abbey Nursery from other parents, I moved my child here after a bad experience with another nursery. We were really anxious about sending him to a different nursery after this experience and how unhappy he was there. From the moment he started here, he was content
and thriving in all areas. His speech, social skills, eating, potty training and overall learning have improved immensely since starting here in January. He went from crying every-time he went into the other nursery, to asking when he can go nursery since starting here (I think it may be his favourite place!). I do not agree with ofsteds rating and I would not send my child or any future children to any other nurseries. The staff are incredible and make myself and my husband feel comfortable sending him here. He loves the outside space, swimming lessons and dance class at the nursery. This is a fantastic nursery and I cannot fault them.

Super happy with Abbey School nursery, we have experienced all nursery rooms across three children attending over the past three years. All staff we have had contact with, have been brilliant with our children, making sure they have a connection with them as well as providing the learning aspect, and
giving any extra attention to areas needed. They have a big outside space that is utilised daily by all ages. The options available are more than most nurseries, including swimming lessons onsite and dance activities, as well as taking the children offsite occasionally. The staff have been accommodating with any requests we have and are always friendly. Our children have all made friends in their rooms, and get regularly invited to parties etc. We haven't had any negative situations and would recommend to anyone looking for a nursery.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.619)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.619) out of 10 for Abbey School Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Abbey School Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (48 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.619 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbey School Nursery is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 82 number of registered child places is 16.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 16.4 = 0.244
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
