Our son has been at the nursery for over two years and he is always excited to head there each morning. The group sizes are small which is brilliant and means the kids and key workers get to know each other really well. They spend so much time outdoors in the large garden having all sorts of wonderful adventures and we are always amazed with how imaginative the staff are with the activities. The staff are wonderful and we would absolutely recommend this nursery.
My little boy currently goes to this nursery four days a week, and we're really loving the experience! You can tell the staff genuinely care about him. The team is also always friendly, approachable, and easy to chat to about day-to-day updates or his development. We also really like that it's a nursery on the smaller size in terms of number of kids. It gives it a very personal feel. At the same time, they've got some of the biggest outdoor spaces I've seen! So I highly recommend this nursery for anyone in the area
Within fewer than 15 sessions, my child was bitten on the face by another child, leaving visible, long-lasting marks. Before any clear reassurance or preventative steps were taken, a second incident occurred, again leaving marks on my child's face.
Raised as a safeguarding concern, the response from staff was dismissive/lacked proper acknowledgment or accountability. There was no plan to prevent it reoccurring.
Escalated the issue to management. Although they initially offered an in-person discussion, this was later retracted. Instead, I received what appeared to be generic, AI-generated responses, which felt impersonal and inadequate.
We have since moved to another nursery where parents can enter rooms for drop-off and collection. This nursery still operates COVID-era restrictions, raising concerns about transparency.
I lost trust/confidence in their ability to provide a safe environment.
Thank you for your feedback. We take all concerns regarding children's wellbeing extremely seriously.
Safeguarding and confidentiality are central to how we operate. In line with UK data protection law and the Early Years Foundation Stage, there are limits to the level of detail we can share....
My son is now 3 years old and has been at the Old Buttery for 2 years so far. The staff are amazing at catering for the needs and wishes of every child and making sure everyone feels included. My son has allergies and they go to great lengths to make sure he isn't left out when the others have birthday cake! He is taught to play nicely with children of all ages - they spend some time all mixed together as well as separate time doing age-appropriate activities. The Tapestry app is brilliant for seeing what he's been up to during the day, and the little book giving a daily record of the more mundane things (eating, sleeping and toileting) is really useful too. They like to spend as much time as possible in their expansive garden (come rain, snow or sunshine) - climbing trees, going on nature trails, playing in the sandpit/boat, water trays, etc. I am sure he will be confident and ready to go to school when the time comes!
The extensive outdoor play area is a real bonus, with water play in a variety of settings being a favourite pastime - and those spare changes of clothes get deployed!
The staff are a very welcoming team and take to heart the children's individual needs including catering for my grandson's allergies.
Excellent foundations are being laid at The Old Buttery Nursery for his education and welfare as a happy rounded individual!
Thank you for your kind words. We put a very high priority on the children understanding how to interact and communicate with each other. We ensure that they learn how to play and work with others, and understand each others feelings to encourage sharing. They are encouraged to make independent...
I would recommend The Old Buttery Nursery. My son currently attends the nursery and he loves it. My son is becoming very sociable and is growing in confidence in large groups. It is clear he enjoys the messy play activities with the number of clothes I wash!
My daughter also attended the nursery prior to school. Again she thoroughly enjoyed her time there and loves going back to visit.
The staff are great! The love and care they have for all the children is amazing. All the staff make the parents feel at ease when leaving the children.
The garden area is great and its lovely to see all the children out exploring and running around.
Both children enjoy the food provided and never had any complaints.
My daughter especially loves her key worker.
The manager is a great help with advising parents, the staff do a great job with the children.
If ever I have a concern I feel at ease in talking to these 3 ladies.
Also, I feel we need a daily whiteboard to show what food they had that day as I often have no idea what my child has eaten.
Both of my children have been to this nursery. The staff are genuine, caring, career professionals in childcare. They are very aware of each child's individual needs and preferences. They encourage great behaviour and developmental progression; from an early age, they learn to tidy up, share toys with others, play nicely with those older or younger than themselves, feed themselves, dress themselves, nappy/toilet training.
They always tell me how the day went. The nursery uses a secure online facility for parents to log in and view videos and photos taken of your child during the day, especially when they meet a milestone. Meals are freshly cooked and prepared on site and ingredients are locally sourced. Although it's not a state of the art facility, there are plenty of toys and guided activities for them, and a great outdoor space for them to get out and muck around. To me, that's much more important than having the latest gadgets. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
Many thanks for your kind words.
We do appreciate everything you have said. We feel strongly that the best environment for our children is one where they are socialising with other children in a more natural environment. We feel that our wild areas - the meadow and the forest - together with our...
My daughter who is now 7, came here before she started school and there was no option about which nursery to put my son in when the time came.
The staff are all brilliant. They know the children needs and work to the highest standard - I can't fault anything they do.
The barn and outside garden are both very big so plenty of room for the kids to play.
The food is cooked fresh each day and a good variety is always given.
Definitely recommend to other parents.
Thank you for your kind words.
We are pleased that you chose to send both your children to us. We make a point of organising settling in sessions before children start. This is especially important for young babies - 10 months. We need to ensure that they are happy to be left with us each...
Great space both inside and out in the garden and meadow. Staff are friendly and very professional. They always have time to discuss my child's day, which makes me feel comfortable talking to them. My first child went here from 9 months to 4.5 years, and now my 2-year-old has already been here for over a year. Would definitely recommend. I do find it expensive, especially the under 2 years rate, but the level of care and to see the development in my child honestly makes it worth it.
Thank you for your kind words.
We are pleased that you chose to send both your children to us. We have a passion in looking after our children. The children do love the great outdoor space.
All our staff make a point of getting to know the whole family and are happy to discuss any matters...
My daughter has been going to Old Buttery Nursery School since she was 9 months old and is now 3 years old. She really enjoys her time there, likes to chat away to us about her day and the activities they’ve been doing when she’s picked up. The nursery has lots of toys, books and space for the children to play, with their artwork on the wall.
The outdoor space available for the children is amazing and a real asset. The staff are excellent, always welcoming and attentive - my daughter knows them well and is very happy attending. The nursery also provides updates via Tapestry which is a great record of your child’s progress and what they’ve been doing.
Thank you for your kind words.
We all appreciate our great outdoor space. The children especially love the wildlife and visiting the badger family.
The introduction of Tapestry has been a huge success. Parents love to be able to upload videos from their holidays so that we can all see the...
There are plenty of toys for him to play with, and he enjoys the outdoor space in the warmer weather. I think improvements to the look of the building would attract more families to consider putting their children in- but don't be put off by this, as the staff and the care are very good.
Thank you for your kind words.
We are pleased that you rate us so highly. We have a passion in looking after our children. They do love the great outdoor space which is a very unique feature in our area. The forested area and meadow are loved by the children and allow them to be exposed to...
Our son started at The Old Buttery last June and has loved attending from day 1. At the time he went with his older sister (who also attended for 2 1/2 years and was sorry to leave) but since September has been going alone and is always happy to get there and not keen to leave at the end of the day.
Although the outside exterior looks a little tired the resources inside and personal care are top rates with a very loving family environment that comes with a smaller childcare setting. They also have a great outside area that they put to full use throughout the year. The introduction of the tapestry system last year has been great to see photos and videos of our son enjoying the setting first hand.
I would not hesitate to recommend The Old Buttery, the fact my daughter can't wait to go back next week over half-term speaks volumes. It's definitely an added bonus they will take older siblings during some school holidays.
Thank you for your kind words. We are glad that have chosen us to look after your children and very happy see that your daughter enjoys coming back to visit us during the holidays.
We will take on board your comments regarding our exterior decoration and will put plans into action as soon as the weather improves.
Many thanks.
My twin boys have been attending The Old Buttery Nursery in Willingham for the past year, and I couldn't be happier. I have seen both boys grow and learn as a direct result of the teaching and care they experience at nursery.
The staff are fabulous - I love them, and my boys clearly love them too. My twins are treated as individuals, and they are developing their own personalities and confidence as individuals.
I can see day by day how much my boys are learning. The nursery has a wide range of toys, and I see variety in the activities they carry out. They do messy play - brilliant, so I don't have to do it at home and spend a lot of time outdoors.
My children are exposed to a wide range of food at the nursery, and as a result, they eat really well. When we have had struggles with difficult eating, the nursery has persisted and I believe they help re-encourage the boys to try new things again.
Couldn't recommend more!
I have now had three children attend this nursery and have seen it change a lot over the years. The true constant has, however, been the high standards of care and affection that the staff have for the children in their care. There is the highest emphasis placed on creating strong and supportive relationships with the children and understanding their development fully. The environment is stimulating with a wonderful outside play area and wildlife zone. I would highly recommend this setting to anyone in or around Willingham looking for childcare.
