We've been really happy with this preschool. Our daughter has come on so much over the last year with her phonics, numbers, confidence and friendships.

The staff are so caring and supportive, and it's been lovely seeing how happy she is there. Space is really well laid out and she loves the climbing frame. Great value and we'd definitely recommend it.

My son had the most supportive team of the most professional teachers. The Senior Leadership here have been second to none and I would wholeheartedly recommend this school. The care and nurture shown to both of my children has been extremely attentive but most of all an aspect my son particularly needed to accommodate some special needs he had. The school were super-efficient and listened to all of our concerns and did not wait to fulfil all of his needs the first day he started here. My son would be staying here but he has been offered an assessment place for his speech and language, which is why I am changing his setting for intense therapy, but my son loves it here and will be sad to go. We had been in search for a school for a couple of years and by far Essendene has been a true blessing and gift for our children and surpassed our expectations. Both my children have developed rapidly in their speech & language and confidence here and I thank the amazing teachers and support staff.

We couldn't be happier with our experience at Essendene. From the moment we joined, it was clear that the staff are not only highly qualified, but also genuinely passionate about early childhood education. The teachers go above and beyond to create a nurturing, stimulating, and supportive environment where every child can thrive.

One of the standout features has been the structured approach to early learning, particularly in phonics. The preschool does a fantastic job preparing children for reception, ensuring they are confident and eager learners by the time they move on. It's incredibly reassuring to know our child is gaining such a strong educational foundation.

Communication is also a real strength of this preschool. We receive regular updates on our child's progress, activities, and even little day-to-day highlights, which really helps us feel connected and involved. It's clear that the staff take great care in making sure parents are well-informed and engaged.

Our daughter has always been cautious about change but she settled into Essendene after having been at another nursery for years prior very quickly. She has learned so much at the preschool. They do school trips and lots of great activities with the kids all centred around learning and education. We have seen her progress leaps and bounds. We would highly recommend Essendene to anyone.

We have been really impressed with the Essende Lodge nursery that our son attended. The staff there are very caring, attentive, and nurturing, which made it easy for us to feel confident leaving him there. What really stood out, though, is that the nursery is part of a private school, which we believed that it would make his transition into primary school much smoother and it did! Knowing that the environment, routines, and expectations will be consistent throughout his early years gives us peace of mind. We highly recommend this nursery to any parent looking for a seamless blend of care and education!

Our daughter has been at Essendene for a year and a half. She is incredibly happy there, she has built strong relationships with her key workers, friends and other members of the school. Essendene are a nurturing outfit with a strong sense of values. We are very happy with how she has developed- from an academic standpoint point and socially. We cannot recommend Essendene enough.

My daughter absolutely loves going to nursery every day and runs through the door without a second glance. The staff are extremely attentive and know her very well. The opportunities for learning are excellent with a varied range of activities on offer that she loves taking part in. Her confidence has grown so much since she started. Having sent my eldest child, who is now also at the school, to a different nursery setting I can safely say that Essendene Nursery is great value for money for the head start the children receive in their learning and I would absolutely recommend.

We couldn't be happier with our experience at Essendene. From the very first day, it was clear that the staff genuinely care about each child, creating a warm and nurturing atmosphere where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to thrive.

The structure of the day is excellent, offering a perfect balance of routine and flexibility to keep the children engaged and settled. The carefully planned activities are always fun, creative, and age-appropriate, designed to spark curiosity and foster learning in a playful way. My son especially enjoyed the art projects, outdoor play, and story time sessions.

What impressed me most was how enthusiastic and happy my son was to attend every day. He would come home smiling, eager to share the exciting things he had learned and the new friends he had made. It's such a reassuring feeling as a parent to know your child is in an environment where they are not just cared for but truly inspired to grow.

My son started at Essendene Lodge School when he was two years old. He has loved every minute of being at the nursery and has made many good friends and formed positive relationships with adults. Alongside that, the structure within the school day has supported his academic development and he is able to write his name and many different words as well as read books to a good standard. Essendene is an amazing nursery. I was quite nervous about sending her to nursery, but the staff were incredibly nurturing and caring. Not only did she settle in quickly, but they also reassured me when I dropped her off for a full day. She will be turning 3 soon and has learned so much. She adores going to nursery and most times she's always busy playing when I arrive to collect her. She always runs over with a big smile to give me a hug. The entire staff is supportive and easy to approach.

Our youngest son attended Essendene nursery before progressing into the pre-school and it was the perfect preparation and introduction for him. He enjoyed a wide variety of fun activities which were all based around him actually learning. He was very nervous after lockdown at being with lots of people but Essendene nursery really helped with this and he happily attends every day. The staff are very caring and attentive to the children and I would recommend the nursery to all.

Our son (3) joined the school in September 2021 and from the very first introduction, we had a very positive feeling about Essendene. All the staff were extremely supportive as our son worked through the settling-in period and we always had a message soon after we dropped him off, confirming that he was ok. The school really take an interest in the children as individuals and support their moves towards a more independent life. Our son tells us that he misses the teachers at weekends! We have been really impressed with how the older children care for the young ones. It is really benefitting our son, and hopefully the older children too! We can’t think of a better introduction to learning and we are very grateful that we found Essendene Lodge.

I love my job and have been working in the Early Years sector for over 15 years. I am a qualified teacher and worked in schools and nurseries, providing me with a wealth of experience in working with young children.
My team are fantastic and we work hard to ensure all the children are happy, nurtured, developing well and engaged throughout the day. We plan lessons and activities that help the children to explore in their play and learning experiences.

My favourite part of my job is spending time with the children, playing with them and talking to them about their day.

I am the Deputy Nursery Manager and Early Years Designated Safeguarding Lead and a very experienced Practitioner. I enjoy working with all the children of the Nursery, observing, assessing, planning and helping to progress them alongside my colleagues and the children’s parents. I support my colleagues in evaluating and exploring their practise to help them to be the best they can be for the children.

I also enjoy completing the parent welcome interview for all our new families, supporting them in settling their child in at Nursery or Preschool.

I started working at Essendene as the year 1 teacher. After returning from maternity leave following the birth of my 4th child, I was excited to be given the opportunity to work in the Early Years. I currently work with our Preschool 2 class, who have just turned 3 as they transition from the Nursery class. This is such a lovely age to work with as they are discovering more independence in their own abilities and are beginning to use what they have learned to scaffold future learning and interactions. I enjoy spending time with the children and seeing them play together and really enjoy the conversations we have as a group, they have so much to share.

I started working at Essendene as a practitioner. I loved the setting and the children I worked with. I went off to university to complete my teacher training and returned to the pre-school as a qualified teacher. Now I work in the pre-school as a teacher and love supporting the children in their early learning. At this age you get to see the most progress in the children and I love the enjoyment you see in the children's faces when they write their name for the first time or sound out a word and read on their own.

I started at Essendene as an apprentice and while working here I have achieved my level 3 qualification. I love working with the children and providing them with lots of opportunities to play, learn and explore. I work with the 2 year old children and really enjoy sharing stories with them, supporting them with their speaking and listening and watching them interact with each other. My favourite part of my job is supporting the children with learning numbers and letters and seeing how excited they get when we play games together and they start to recognise these on their own.

I am currently an apprentice working towards my level 3 in childcare. I love working with children and spending time playing and talking with them. Before working at Essendene I worked as a Private Nanny working with 1 child up until they started at Nursery. I love seeing the children grow and develop and my favourite thing about my job is getting messy with the children and seeing their creative abilities shine. I am always sparkling as glitter is our favourite resource to use.

I recently joined Essendene following a long career working as a TA in a Reception class. I wanted to work with a slightly younger age group and have enjoyed working in the pre-school room with the 3-4 year olds. The children are very inquisitive and enjoy exploring in their learning with them and the questions and conversations we have had. I have also enjoyed providing specific support to children who need that little extra help. I run Drama Club as an after school activity for the pre-school and nursery children where we share stories and re-enact them, becoming the characters and using our bodies and senses to become immersed in the story. The language the children use from these books and the behaviour we then see in their play demonstrates what they have learned through these sessions, which is amazing to see.

Naela Enam Job Title: Nursery Practitioner Joined: 2024

I started at Essendene after recently moving from India, where I worked as an online tutor for children of all ages. The team have been very welcoming and so have the children and I am enjoying getting to know them all and their families. I have enjoyed supporting teaching phonic sessions for all the age groups and encouraging the children to try new and different activities. I am passionate about public speaking and I offer this experience to all the children in the setting as an after school club. Even the children who are reluctant to speak are having a go, which makes me very proud of them and what they are all able to achieve. I look forward to setting in more and sharing my different skill sets with the children.
