With more than 30 years’ experience, the nursey is well respected throughout Tunbridge Wells. St George's has a friendly, happy and highly qualified childcare team who provide the best possible care to children.
As an independent, not-for-profit organisation, the nursery put all funds back into St George’s so they can provide exceptional care and facilities. This also means that childcare options can fit around the needs of families.
With a nursery, term-time only preschool, after school and holiday clubs, parents can ensure children are cared for in one location. Based in the St John’s area, St George's is easily accessible and their large car park makes drop-offs and pick-ups easy.
The large Victorian building with its big sun-drenched rooms and spacious garden including an adventure playground ensure children have the space to play, explore and learn both inside and out.
The nursery is also fortunate enough to have an allotment where the children can plant fruit and vegetables and learn healthy eating.
In the large onsite kitchen their team use locally-sourced, fresh food to create delicious, healthy, home-cooked meals for all the children. Menus offer the children the chance to enjoy a balanced and varied diet and experience foods from different cultures.
All of the meals are prepared and cooked daily by the cooks in a modern kitchen, which has a 5-star food hygiene rating from the government's food standards agency (May 2019).

About this price
How funding is applied, how the monthly figure is calculated.More info
- Working parents of children aged 9 months to 2 years can usually claim up to 30 funded hours a week. The working-parent hours depend on each parent meeting the minimum earnings rules and earning under £100,000 a year. This nursery stretches funded hours across 38 weeks of the year. You've selected 30 funded hours.
- This nursery applies up to 10 funded hours per day, stretched across 38 weeks of the year. With your selected funding, 30 hours are covered each week. Hours beyond this, including the early and late parts of the day, are charged at the standard rate.
- We work out the total cost across the year and divide by 12, so the figure shown is a smoothed monthly average. In practice, nurseries bill in different ways. Some bill monthly at this average. Others bill weekly, or charge for what happened that week or month, which can vary across the year. Confirm billing details with the nursery when you enquire.

If we were lucky enough to have another child, I wouldn't hesitate to apply for a place at St George's again. The staff are great, as are the facilities and we never had any reason for concern during our daughter's time there. They are always putting on lovely things for the children and taking them out to new places as part of their learning and developing.
Thank you to all the staff for their devotion and commitment to looking after our children so brilliantly.
Thank you for taking the time to write us a review. We really appreciate your kind words.

The staff are super friendly and they have a very good ratio of staff to children in each room.

My daughter, she insists on going there to visit Little Dragons even now, that is how much she enjoyed it there. My son is already falling in love there, their standard is still the same. I can even say the playground looks better than before.

From day one they have made us feel very welcome, our little boy settled in nicely with a smile at the end of every day! The garden is excellent, with a selection of mud kitchens, ride on cars/bikes and climbing frames! The rooms are bright, fun and always have engaging activities going on. A lot of love has gone into ensuring all the children are fed well, safe and happy! Ourselves and our son will miss seeing everyone’s friendly faces. Thank you all for your support.

I would 100% recommend St George’s. My two girls have been nurtured and supported by kind staff. The outdoor space is fantastic with lots of room for the children to play. The kitchen produces fresh food every day. The staff work hard to make each day interesting with lots of different themes and activities whilst also ensuring children have space and time to be creative and have fun. My youngest daughter is off to school now; she couldn’t have had a better environment to thrive in before starting that next adventure. We will definitely be booking their holiday club so we can keep feeling connected with the St George’s family.

My daughter started St George’s in May and she absolutely loves it there. I was so anxious about going back to work and leaving her but the team in the baby room (squirrels) are so kind, compassionate and fun-loving that she now smiles when my husband drops her off. Her key worker has been amazing with her and I trust her unreservedly. They are very experienced staff and helped with the transitions and getting her used to eating and sleeping in a new environment. They have excellent systems in place to make my life as a parent easier. Nobody has a bad word to say about St George’s in the community (I had to go on the wait list when I was 8 months pregnant to guarantee the place as it’s so popular) and I couldn’t be happier with our choice of nursery. Thank you to the wonderful team in Squirrels.

Our daughter has had the best time in Badgers! We, as parents, and our daughter, have had the most amazing experience. The team are so thoughtful, and they have the most incredible energy! We felt like she was so well cared for and that they all really made the effort to know everything about her, especially the room leader. The handovers were fantastic; it was like talking to a friend. We will miss the team so much, as will our daughter. They have made her early education everything we could have hoped for. Highly recommend!
Both my sons have loved being at St Georges. From the baby room to the holiday club, it has been a huge piece of mind for us to know they're in such a safe, nurturing and fun environment while we work. We have loved all our boy's key workers!

A superb nursery with brilliant indoor and outdoor amenities, St George’s provides age-appropriate activities, games and toys, which are all loved by our boys.
We often recommend St George’s to friends who are looking for nursery childcare and will continue to do so. We are very happy with our choice of childcare and highly recommend St George’s.
Fantastic staff, lovely setting and a very caring and nurturing environment. We loved the outside space and the meals are great. Our daughter has settled well and we couldn’t be happier with her start to nursery life.

My son has attended the setting since he was 11 months old, and now nearly 3, as parents we couldn’t be happier with St George's Childcare. The transitions through the classes have been well thought out and considerate and the varied activities are excellent. The staff are very supportive and sensitive to the individual needs and my Son’s confidence has grown from strength to strength through the care of the staff. He’s always grown to have a lovely rapport with his caregivers which is very reassuring as parents. It’s an exceptionally friendly environment and we look forward to starting our journey again at St George’s with our second child next year!
He had a great time and said everyone there was so kind to him and looked after him really well.
Thank you all very much!
