My son has been attending this nursery since he was 8 and a half months old and he is now just getting ready to leave for school. He has loved his time at Fairthorne, and I have loved being able to leave him at such a wonderful nursery. He spends time outside playing pretty much every day, comes home
filthy and tired (clearly the signs of a good day!) every day and is very well looked after by the fab staff at the nursery. The food is good, the grounds are amazing, the staff are lovely and engaging, what more could you want for your little ones?
Reply from Jo Williams, Maternity cover Manager at YMCA Nursery Fairthorne ManorHi Samantha, Thank you for an amazing review. It is with ease that we can offer such amazing opportunities for your son and all his friends when they all engage with us and experience new opportunities with enthusiasm and excitement as he does. The team does work extremely hard to achieve all we say we do and it is your feedback that inspires us to continue. Thank you again. We will all miss your son when he leaves for school.

My 3 Daughters have all been part of the Fairthorne family.
I cannot fault the whole running of this fabulous setting.... not only does it have 111 acres of safe grounds for the children to play in, it has the best team of staff to help run this forest school nursery.
My daughters absolutely thrive
from being there.
The care, the fun and adventures they have all had is extraordinary!
I would and do recommend this nursery to any parent with a child that is between 4months-4 years.
These children grow learning so much...so why not start with the best experience you could ever give your child?
Undoubtedly the best nursery in the area.

Fairthorne Manor nursery is absolutely wonderful. We have 2 sons currently attending (1 year and 3 years old). The setting is unrivalled, they are outside a lot, learning about positive risk taking and having adventures safely. The staff are extremely competent, especially the room leaders who have
helped with sensitive issues in a discreet and professional manner. There is a very welcoming feeling to the nursery as soon as you walk in and the children are always enjoying themselves. They really do promote the values that they advertise. I was reluctant to go back to work but now realise how much fun my boys have there. Great community feel.
Reply from Naomi Gatland, Manager at YMCA Nursery Fairthorne ManorThank you for your lovely review. We certainly love having the boys with us.

My daughter spent 2 years at Foxes and had the time of her life, did plenty of outdoor activities and made plenty of friends. The nursery also did events involving parents like Father's Day brunch at weekends. I feel it's important to have a good start in education and Fairthorne Nursery has given her
solid foundations and has gained confidence throughout her time there. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to give their child a good start in life.

My son has only been at the nursery since January but he is already settled and seems to relish his time at Fairthorne. Before his official start, the staff went to great lengths to ensure he was happy and had enough settling sessions so that, although I shed a tear on his first day, he went in happy
ready to make me pasta necklaces and butterfly paintings! As a first time mum who would rather not have to leave her 10 month old, the staff at Fairthorne Manor Nursery have made me feel happy and comfortable to leave my most precious possession with them!

Our daughter has attended Fairthorne Manor nursery since she was 11 months old. She is now just about to turn 3 and absolutely loves it there. We chose this nursery due to the unique setting, with huge grounds, the woods and river to explore. It's important to us that our daughter gets lots of outdoor
experiences, has a good time and comes home muddy! This is certainly the case here. The staff obviously have a great relationship with the children and we know from the way our daughter talks about them that they are caring and nurturing. The food always goes down well, the indoor activities are fun and varied. The fact that our daughter is excited to be going there each morning is proof enough that we made the right decision.

Since my daughter joined Fairthorne Manor in July 2014, I feel like my family has grown. It was a hard transition for all of us, but everyone made it so much easier with the right words, a hug (for me and her), their experience, and sometimes just a smile of "Shes fine". Since being at nursery, my
daughter has come on in leaps and bounds with confidence, language, sociability and is such an amazingly well behaved little girl (Most of the time) as she discovers who she is. I love how Fairthorne allows children to discover their world through all of their five senses. They give them boundaries but allow them to explore ie the boats, the river, puddles, gloop, food play etc. When we pick my little girl up, I love how the room feels like we've left her with friends and it takes me ages to leave as they fill you in on her day and her character - I couldn't want for a better environment to help our little girl grow and develop. I love our Fairthorne Family and so does she.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.6 (7.622) out of 10 for YMCA Nursery Fairthorne Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.0 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.583 for YMCA Nursery Fairthorne Manor is calculated as follows: ( (7 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.583
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.039 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for YMCA Nursery Fairthorne Manor is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 128 number of registered child places is 25.6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 25.6 = 0.039
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
