Carousel Day Nursery & Pre-school is an Outstanding rated (Oct 2022) children's day nursery based in Billericay, Essex. It is a family owned and managed nursery, having been established since 1992.
The nursery is registered for 31 children per day, aged from 3 months to 5 years. The nursery has four rooms: baby room, lower toddler room, upper toddler room and pre-school. The nursery garden was completely renovated in the summer of 2021 and now contains a real woodwork bench, water wall, bug hotel, sand pit, planters and a climbing frame. The garden has a fake grass surface, which is soft and comfortable for the children to use, as well as being very practical.
The nursery ethos is to inspire in children a lifelong love of learning, through exciting discovery, which will prepare them for future education and beyond. The nursery is a small setting, with a home-from-home feel. The environment is set up to cater for children's learning needs, with each room containing a coy/reading corner, a role play area, eacting/activity table and resources at the children's level. The staff team are all qualified Early Years practitioners, ranging from Level 2 to Early Years Teacher status. Some staff members are apprentices who are working towards a qualification in early years. All staff complete safeguarding training and are DBS checked.
The nursery fees are inclusive of everything except for nappies, cream (sun, nappy etc) and formula milk. The nursery is open from 7am-6.30pm and provides breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus two snacks. All food is prepared onsite by the nursery cook, and all meat comes from a local butcher. The nursery caters for special dietary requirements.
The nursery is located in a quiet residential area, 15 minutes walk from Billericay train station, on a bus route and the road has no parking restrictions.

My daughter has been at Carousel since September and I cannot fault them. The staff are all so friendly and lovely and you can tell they genuinely really care for the kids. She's in the Duckling (baby) room, but the staff from all rooms know her name and always say hi when they're passing etc. My daughter goes to them with open arms and big smiles and gets excited when I say we're going to nursery. There's a very low turnover of staff too so the children really get to bond with them. Their communication is fab - they always tell you if there's been anything out of the ordinary or even if anything nice or funny has happened. The room is always clean & tidy (as tidy as a room full of toys & babies can be) and it never seems chaotic or unorganised in there.
I picked the nursery because it felt homely when I looked round, and that really is what it's like, I can't recommend it enough

I couldn't be happier with the care my daughter receives at Carousel. From the moment we enrolled her, it's been nothing short of exceptional. The staff are incredibly professional and friendly, always going above and beyond to ensure she feels safe and valued. The curriculum is engaging and well-rounded, fostering creativity, learning, and development in such a nurturing way. I've seen my daughter grow and thrive in ways I never imagined - her development has been amazing.
The nursery's commitment to excellence is evident, especially with their outstanding rating from Ofsted. It truly feels like one of the best nurseries around, and I couldn't be happier with the environment they've created. I have complete peace of mind knowing that my daughter is in such capable, caring hands. I highly recommend to any parent looking for top-tier care and a fantastic learning environment.

Our son has attended Carousel since July 2024 and have been more than happy with hope he's come along over the time and the care they provide. I feel confident in the care whilst he's there, (which makes me feel slightly less guilty for working long hours!)

All the staff are fantastic and take great care of her. She’s excited every morning when we drop her off and it’s very comforting to know she’s in good hands. Communication is excellent through the WhatsApp group and we enjoy seeing her pictures on FB each day to see what activities she’s been involved in. We had our second child recently and given our positive experience overall, we have also enrolled him to start in September. Thank you to all the Carousel staff.

I’ve tried a few nurseries and Carousel Day Nursery is excellent. Lovely team equipped with knowledge and certifications in childcare and development. I was informed about my son’s daily progress. Children engage in various activities to develop their reading skills and art skills. Very low staff turnover which means that kids grow with the same teacher around. I think that is great. It feels like a family. My son would always cry to go but after a couple of weeks, he wouldn’t even say goodbye to me after drop off and walk right in excited to be there! Even now as we walk past he always points and says “that’s my old-school mommy!”
One of the best nurseries in Billericay. Possibly the best but I didn’t get to try all of the nurseries in Billericay to make such a statement but honestly, it’s really good.

Carousel Day Nursery & Pre-School has recently been graded Outstanding by Ofsted. As a parent, I would also rate the nursery as outstanding. My child enjoys attending nursery and looks forward to going every week. The communication from my child's key worker is excellent and I know exactly how my child is getting on at nursery. I would definitely recommend Carousel Nursery to anyone who is looking for a safe childcare provision in the area.
