Little Explorers is a Grade 2 nursery, that provides childcare for children aged birth to 11 years, through its nursery, breakfast, after school and holiday clubs.

Situated in the knowledge quarter of Liverpool’s busy city centre, the nursery is accessible by car, bus and train. An ample car park means that there is no rush when dropping off or picking up.

With a holistic approach to child development, staff ensure that children are encouraged and supported to develop as a 'whole person' with varied interests and respect for others and their different backgrounds.

The menu is vegetarian and is cooked daily by the cook on-site. Children can bring in a packed lunch if preferred or lunches can be bought on a daily basis.

The children's play area is secure and wraps around three sides of the building offering excellent physical play and creative opportunities, especially in the mud kitchen. There are planting beds, giving children the experience of growing their own food and then cooking and eating it.

Inside the nursery, physical opportunities come from a range or areas including the large soft play area that is available for all children to use and access each week. Quieter time may also be enjoyed within the sensory room, with calming lights, must and natural malleable materials.

Little Explorers offers a safe, supportive, caring, interesting and fun environment. The service prides itself on its cultural diversity, with children attending from around the world, as their parent's study or work at the nearby universities and businesses.

Staff are qualified to various levels from degrees in early years education right down to staff starting a career in childcare undertaking Level 2 qualifications.

This nursery is shockingly magnificent. People are nice and always shine with a smile, kids are taught proper manners and the most comfortable price in the neighbourhood! A sterile clean area, weekly supply of goodies from local supermarkets for kids and parents, events and expeditions - it all will
make your child happy. Little Explorers caretakers and managing staff with brilliant managers will always make sure your baby will feel happy, fed and entertained! I must not miss out the fact that with their meat-free policy of meals, kids always receive proper food and nutrition provided by their very own kitchen (approved as a trained and qualified chef).
I cannot thank staff enough for minding my daughter. She is always happy to go there and never sad when I pick her up to go home. Please, value people that work there - they are the real people around here.

My daughter has been attending Little Explorers since April 2018. I absolutely love it and so does my daughter! The staff are amazing. The learning and care she received are outstanding. As well as the nursery nurses being brilliant, the management and admin team are also so lovely too. The menu is
really good and gets her to try food I wouldn't think of giving her at home. Overall I am pleased with my decision to put my daughter in the care of Little Explorers. I never have to worry about her care.

My daughter moved from the baby room to the midi room. I was very worried that my daughter wouldn't settle as some of the children were older. That wasn't the case. The staff were brilliant, they let her visit with me and let me do activities with her.
Now she is such a confident girl. I am so happy!

From the moment we viewed this nursery we knew our son would be happy and safe. Like all kids, he took a couple of weeks to settle into the routine but was supported and made very welcome by the amazing staff.
He has thrived over the year and a half he has been there and as a result is a very confident,
sociable and happy little boy.
Many thanks to the fabulous staff for helping make him who he is today.

Very homely and friendly environment, yet highly professional. Teachers are lovely with the children. They manage to soothe them if they are upset.
I recommend this nursery fully.
It would be great if it was open on Saturdays and closed at 7pm during the week.
Great that the children are allowed
to have homemade food.

My child previously attended childminders and I was very unhappy. I moved him to the nursery (Little Explorers) and he has progressed so much. Staff are very pleasant and understanding, always caring and making sure he gets the best out of every day.

My daughter is turning 4 in a few weeks and has been attending this nursery for 2 years. I have had confidence in the safety and care of my daughter while at the nursery. She has always had good care and interaction with her key persons over the years. She has also developed wonderfully and is enthusiastic
about going to the nursery and playing with friends. The staff are also very warm and friendly.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.850)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.850) out of 10 for Little Explorers Day Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.933 for Little Explorers Day Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (57 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.933
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.917 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Explorers Day Nursery is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 number of registered child places is 12. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.417
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
