Smithfield House Children’s Nursery is a proudly independent, owner-managed early years setting that offers a unique and highly responsive approach to childcare. Independence provides the freedom to adapt services to suit the individual needs, routines, and work commitments of the families who attend, ensuring a level of personalisation that larger group settings often cannot achieve.

Every aspect of the nursery has been thoughtfully designed to support children’s learning, wellbeing, and natural sense of wonder. Each learning environment is spacious, warm, and welcoming, with a layout and atmosphere that encourage both independence and collaboration. A highly experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) is in place, supported by an additional fully qualified SENDCo, ensuring that every child receives tailored support to meet individual needs. After visiting more than ten nurseries in London, Smithfield House was by far the best. The entire team is caring, professional, and truly dedicated. Our son has attended nurseries since he was six months old, and even after moving between cities and countries, this has been the most welcoming and supportive
environment we've found. The staff show genuine attention, care, and concern for every child, providing excellent communication with parents. The educational activities are creative, well planned, and help children learn through play. As a non-native English speaker, our son received outstanding support to develop the language and integrate with his friends. The atmosphere is warm, clean, and full of joy. We are deeply grateful for everything the team has done. Smithfield House is simply exceptional in every aspect.

Smithfield House Children's Nursery has been a lifesaver for us. My son had been going to this nursery since he was 1 - the nursery staff are all so incredibly loving and supportive - we have never had any concerns on that front at all. Management are very responsive and attentive to all admin details
so no concerns on that front either. They have gone above and beyond in terms of identifying his developmental concerns and then helping us navigate all the specific details and processes so we could access the resources we needed to support him. They ensured that he participated in all the wonderful activities that are organised for the children everyday and gave him so much additional support. He has just left the nursery to start Reception class and I fully credit Smithfield House nursery for how well he has adjusted so far and the support that he is getting at his new school now. They are phenomenal educators and advocates and truly care for all the kids in their care.

From the moment our little girl started as a baby right through to her toddler stage, the care and attention she has received at Smithfield nursery has been outstanding. The team is professional and attentive but also genuinely loving and nurturing. It's so important to leave your baby and feel she
is in good hands.


It's been amazing to see her grow in confidence, independence, and happiness during her time there. She learnt how to be more social and make friends. The activities are always creative and engaging, and the updates we receive give us real peace of mind. She has built lovely bonds with both the teachers and the other children, and it's clear how much effort goes into making the nursery a warm, safe, and a joyful environment.


We feel so grateful to have found such a supportive and caring nursery for these important early years. I couldn't recommend more highly!

My daughter attended Smithfield House from when she was 15 months old until she started school, and I can never praise the nursery and its staff highly enough. She has grown into a thoughtful, kind and chatty child, and these qualities have all been encouraged during her nursery days. I felt confident
leaving her in everyday knowing she was being fed great food, had access to brilliant facilities, and had the most caring staff teaching her and showing her love throughout her time at nursery. All the staff were welcoming, always happy to chat about anything I might have had on my mind, and very supportive of both my children and family circumstances. Whenever we needed short term adjustments they listened and were ready to assist, and helped make it possible to balance working life with quality childcare, and especially while transitioning from one to two children! It's a nursery that's been a home for us, and we've had an unforgettable time with everyone there.

I'm filled with gratitude for everything Smithfield House Children's Nursery has done for him - and for me. From the start, the team welcomed us with warmth and care. Over almost two years, I've watched him grow into a confident, curious, and expressive little person. His speech has developed beautifully,
and the social, nurturing environment helped his confidence soar. The wide range of activities - from early maths and english to cooking and creative play - supported his learning and fine motor skills in fun, engaging ways. Each day was a new adventure, and I always felt reassured knowing he was learning and having fun in equal measure. As a single mum working full-time, I was truly touched by how the management treated me like family. Their kindness and support meant the world to us! We have sent our daughter to Smithfield since she was 3 months old, starting in January 2024. She has progressed from part-time initially to full-time, and from one of the smallest babies to one of the bigger ones in the room! One of the reasons we chose the Smithfield initially was because of the different
rooms that they have, with a dedicated sleep room for the babies. Overall, we have been absolutely delighted with her care at Smithfield. She is so happy to go and play every day, and we have every confidence that she will be well taken care of and stimulated. The range of activities they do is amazing, and we love getting the updates and photos via the app. We are moving her only because we moved house and the commute is too much for her, but we are so sad to be leaving. We really cannot speak highly enough of the team and nursery, and would recommend them without reservation. We'll miss you!

Our son has gone to the nursery two days a week for the last 8 months in preparation for starting the reception class at his school. Three particular members of staff and the rest of the team made us completely welcome and feel like part of an extended family, despite our son only attending part-time.
It's an extremely professional, highly welcoming nursery. Our son always looked forward to his days there. We were entirely happy with the care and range of activities and food provided, and we appreciated the daily feedback we received about his behaviour and development.
There were also several occasions when our son's nanny was on holiday or ill, and we asked the nursery for additional days at short notice. We were very impressed by their flexibility in trying to accommodate us, which they were able to do on the vast majority of days when we asked for additional help.
Overall, this is a fantastic nursery, centrally located and staffed by real professionals who our son loved spending time with.

Our daughter attended Smithfield House Children’s Nursery for 6 months, until we moved out of London in March 2024. She settled in quickly, formed strong bonds with the staff and always started the day with a smile on her face. The days were filled with lots of messy play and craft activities. We had
regular updates and EYFS assessments or observations from which it was clear how much the staff cared about her. We always felt entirely confident leaving her there and were very sad that we moved out too far for her to continue at that nursery. The only downside is that they have no outside space, but the children go for outings at the park and around the city a lot which more than makes up for it. I loved that the children had several ‘rooms’ to explore (e.g. the babies have a meal room, 2 main rooms, a sensory room and the sleep room) and that on quieter days children of all ages engaged in activities together.

My little one has been attending Smithfield House Children's Nursery since September. I have to say that after a very bad experience in the previous nursery, I was very sceptical about finding a good nursery for my 3-year-old daughter. This is by far the best nursery ever! All staff have a very caring
nature and are approachable. This nursery is superb and I'm so pleased I chose this environment for my daughter. The staff and management are fantastic and they clearly love their jobs. The attention to detail and love that my daughter receives is so comforting to me that I would have no hesitation in recommending this nursery to friends and family. My almost 4-year-old son spent a year at Smithfield House while his parents were studying in London. It is such a wonderful place, with the kindest and most loving staff in every position. He did not speak any English upon arrival but found it very easy to communicate from the first day and learned
a lot of English throughout the year. The food was always good, variety of things to do and a lot of creative playing with colours, shapes, drawings etc. For people working or studying in central London, the location is perfect and the facilities were always clean and up to the highest hygienic standards. Communication with staff was flawless and they took such good care of our son.

We couldn't be happier with our decision to enrol our children at Smithfield House Children's Nursery. Our 20-month-old daughter has been attending Smithfield House for a year now, and we could not be more satisfied with the care she’s received. The carers are not only supremely qualified, but every one of them treats our daughter with the same amount of love and attention she is used to at home; it’s

Many thanks to the team for the experience. Our daughter settled in, in a couple of days and was quickly requesting to go to school, which didn't happen with the nurseries she attended previously. This is the friendliest nursery either of my children has attended (out of about five over the years!). Staff show a genuine affection for the kids and a real concern for their wellbeing. Our one-year-old had a really fun time there. The price is relatively reasonable given its convenient location in
the heart of the city. I'd definitely recommend it.

My daughter has been at Smithfield House for over 6-months now and loves it! She adores her key workers and all the staff and is really happy here.
The range of activities is comprehensive and fun. It's clearly a very well managed nursery with enthusiasm and attention to detail in childcare coming

I joined Smithfield House Children's Nursery at the beginning of 2022 as I was returning to work after having my son during the pandemic. Being a first-time mum and worrying about the Covid situation, I was obviously very anxious. From my first conversation with the nursery, I was immediately put at
ease. When I visited the nursery, I found the staff to be engaging (although I was not yet an attending parent) and interested not only in my son but in me as a parent. I was shown the whole nursery, and any/all questions that I had were answered immediately. This added to my confidence. I love the app used by the nursery; it is so user friendly, and I love seeing the posts of what my son is doing throughout the day. I know what he has eaten, when he has slept and that I can message his key-worker directly, and they always come back to me in a timely manner. I know my son's emotional needs, as well as his learning needs, are being met, and I am so happy with his progress. Best decision ever!
