Overall Experience2.0 out of 5
On the 25th Aug I took my son for a settling in session. During this session I witnessed a young child crying by the door for his mum. No staff tried to comfort him. I just watched as he cried alone and not one member of staff got up for a good 5 minutes. Personally I feel 5 minutes is too long to leave
a child crying in this situation. How can a child learn to settle in a nursery if no one is there for him? When I got up to see to him and try to console him, this got the staff's attention and then someone finally came to comfort him. Only not in the way you would think. Instead of cuddles and reassurance, they got a tablet device out to stick in front of him. This wasn’t working so they finally got his mum in. She asked them not to give screentime and they just brushed it off. I told her what happened and she told me that she had also witnessed the same thing a couple days prior where a little girl was crying and was just left alone to cry. I’d seen enough to decide not to use this nursery.
