Caledonian Nursery

Overall Experience 1.0 out of 5
My one-year-old was not having a good time with the nursery, and I had to make the difficult decision to withdraw my toddler in just under two weeks. The reason being, that the toddler would be crying for the whole 3 to 3.5 hours in the nursery, and there was no genuine effort to calm the baby. Just
putting some toys in front of a one-year-old would not calm them down. I would be too sad to see my toddler's tears and nose running all the time and not even being wiped once for the whole day - there would be dry tear marks by the time of pickup.

Both my sons have attended Summerlea since ten months of age. I have always found the staff to be warm, caring and fun. They have great ideas to help the children learn via play. They try to get them outside at all opportunities. My children are happy to go in each morning, and I feel reassured that
they are well looked after. Parents are often invited to join in with nursery activities and kept informed via the online service and newsletters.

Cannot recommend enough!
Staff are always friendly, attentive and; caring towards my son and myself.
My son has been in Summerlea since he was 18 months and has grown fond of all the staff.
I have great confidence in the staff who genuinely care and know my son.
I love receiving updates on his
progression, and the folders are a great way of presenting everything he has done while in the nursery.
The children spend a lot of time outside in the garden when the weather is nice, and the choice of meals is excellent (especially when my son is fussy).
Overall, my son loves going to nursery, and I know he'll be sad to leave next year.

All the staff at the nursery are fantastic. They are energetic, enthusiastic and very friendly. They all work extremely hard. My 3 year old son has been attending Summerlea since he was 1 and loves it. My daughter also attended Summerlea for 4 years. The children have lots of outside play and go walks
to the local park. They participate in lots of arts and crafts and imaginary play. They often visit the care home round the corner which my son loves. The progress folders are fab and I've received lots of amazing photos over the years.

My only negative comment is that the staff are not paid enough. They have a huge amount of responsibility and this should be recognised by giving staff a decent wage. The daily fee has gone up by £2 a day - I wouldn't mind paying this if staff were getting a decent pay rise.
