View Full Details of The Old Station Nursery AlcesterI've had two children attend the nursery-one has now left and one still attends. The room staff are lovely: very friendly, knowledgeable, and excellent with the children. The manager, however, is very difficult to deal with. She seems to have limited people skills and struggles to handle different types of personalities. It often feels like there is one rule for her and another for the staff. I also find the nursery's safeguarding policy far too relaxed. Anyone can let someone into the building, which is very concerning. This responsibility is pushed onto parents rather than being properly managed by the nursery. There are many measures that could be put in place, yet on a daily basis I see parents letting me in-and I could be anyone. This is a management issue, not a staff issue. There have also been times when there are more agency staff than regular staff, and the handovers in these situations are often very poor. The nursery also dictates when you can spend your own funding.
Our little girl loves her time at old station nursery so much so that sometimes she doesn't even want to come home! It is clear to see the effort put in by the team and it is great to see the developmental changes our little girl is learning thanks to the support of the team.
Since our daughter started this year at 12 months old, we have been so amazed at how well she has settled in. The atmosphere the baby room staff create is second family, always so warm, welcoming, kind and understanding. It has been a joy to watch our daughter flourish, enjoying social aspects of nursery along with growth in her development. The environment, staff, atmosphere and resources allow this growth and support both her learning and independence.
My son has come on leaps & bounds since he started at OSN Alcester! His confidence has grown so much and he's learning so many new words and communication skills. The staff are fantastic - super friendly, incredibly caring and clearly engaged with the babies. They communicate really well providing helpful and regular updates on my son.
We are really happy with the care, support and learning our children receive. Having grown up through each of the rooms our eldest has loved each stage of their journey. Our youngest had loved each stage of their journey. Our youngest has just moved up from the babies room into the toddlers room and is already progressing. The staff are friendly, supportive and take a genuine interest in our children's lives.
We could not be happier with the care and education our daughter receives at The Old Station Nursery Alcester. The staff are wonderful and have built a fantastic relationship with all of our family. The activities provided are fun and educational. Communications from the leadership team are always really helpful and the app is great at keeping us informed on a daily basis. Thank you to all the staff.
My eldest started in the baby room here and has just left the pre-school to start school, and my youngest is now in the toddler room having also started in babies at 9 months. They have always been greeted with care and enthusiasm by all the staff and are always happy to run in and see their friends.
My child has flourished at this setting. She has grown in confidence and made lots of friends. My daughter always speaks with enthusiastic positivity about her days in this setting and has formed great bonds with her peers and the staff. Special mention to her key worker who is excellent but all staff continually and consistently go above and beyond our expectations. Thank you, we wouldn't want to send our child anywhere else.
Joined the nursery back in May 2023 when my son was just 9 months old. The staff have always been friendly and attentive. My son always seems happy to go there and seems to be gaining extra skills. Overall excellent nursery. Very happy parents.
The day-to-day care at the nursery is excellent - the staff are all kind, caring and knowledgeable and really try to make each day fun and engaging. The one thing that really lets the nursery down is poor communication with parents.
Excellent care provision, attentive staff. Fantastic opportunities for development.
Highly recommend. Moved our son here, and the staff have done absolutely amazingly helping him settle in and to make new friends, especially one member of staff. We couldn’t ask for more. It’s lovely being able to just go in and see him playing on the collection and how easy the staff are to talk to. The pictures in the app and feedback about his day are very appreciated.
My child is well looked after by the staff at the nursery and you can see how caring they are. The staff know my child’s keen interests and this is reflected in the activities I see they have done through the updates received. My child is always excited when it’s a nursery day and the bond the staff and my child have is fantastic to see and really reassuring as a parent.
This nursery is fantastic. My child has came on leaps and bounds since I pulled her out of another nursery to bring her here. After recently suffering a bereavement in our family, the nursery have been very supportive and I appreciate the help.
My son has been attending this nursery since he was 2 (previously Polkadots) now four and leaving for school in September. I have never had any concerns about the care he has received, what he learns and what he gets up to on the day. Meals that are served are healthy and sound delicious. He almost always eats it all. The staff are fantastic and turnover is so low which means there is consistency for your child. If/when I have another I will no doubt be signing them up for a place at the nursery. Admin and billing was a little rocky especially when they changed hands as new billing system but you can overlook this when you know your child is receiving such good care. Highly recommended.
Lovely nursery lovely set up lovely staff my son enjoys it very much. They have lots of activities for my son and lots of outdoor play. Outside is a beautiful setting for the children to play in. I would recommend this nursery 100%.
The nursery and their staff provide a safe and nurturing place for my son to grow. The activities they complete are varied and relevant. All of our interactions with the staff are positive and welcoming. We've been very happy with the level of care and support they provide.
Three of my children have attended The Old Station Nursery Alcester over the past 5 or so years and by and large, they have all been very well settled and adjusted to moving to primary school. The staff are pretty helpful, friendly and kind plus they do a lot of really good activities. The app you can download is really useful too as it tells you what food they have eaten and if they've had a nap and the staff will also upload photos of them playing/learning. The nursery is a good size with defined room areas per age group (baby, toddler and preschool), plus a really good outdoor learning area. The back office team in billing/finance are also incredibly helpful and responsive.
This nursery is absolutely wonderful, they really take the time to listen to my daughter and encourage her interests. For example, around Christmas time my daughter took an interest in the postal service. I was sent photos of her on the app and the practitioners had made her a satchel, found her some fancy dress items to make her into a postman for the day and she went around posting Christmas cards to all of her friends. Impromptu activities like this make this nursery so special. All the staff in the building know my daughter by name and pay an interest in her as we come and go daily. It feels like we are leaving her with family, we feel that she is safe and really cared for whilst she attends nursery and the fact that she asks to be dropped off every time we drive past confirms to us that she’s happy there!
The nursery layout is good and the play area outside is a good size, however, communication is poor compared to other nurseries. While our son was there, a safeguarding issue got highlighted to us three weeks late. Unfortunately, because of this I wouldn’t recommend Polkadots as a nursery to my friends and family.
