NURSERY NEWS –APRIL 2026

Our Room Topics – Baby Moons – This month in baby moons we went on a walk to the woods and collected natural resources to explore we made pictures using the natural resources that we found on our walk. We also looked to see if we could see any animals while we were out and do the sounds they make. We also enjoyed taking part in doing some baking and made some yummy shortbread which we all enjoyed.

Teenie Moons- During March, the children in Teenie Moons have been exploring emotions through a variety of engaging tuff tray activities, helping them to recognise and understand different feelings in a fun way. The children have particularly enjoyed caring for the baby dolls during role-play activities. They have been bathing the dolls in the water tray, dressing them, and putting on toy nappies, encouraging turn taking, imaginative play, and the development of social and self-care skills. We have been enjoying outdoor play daily using the balance bikes practicing our balancing skills.

Mini Moons- In March, Mini Moons have been continuing their exciting journey learning all about birds. They showed great curiosity as they explored different types of birds and their habitats out in the garden. As part of this learning, the children enjoyed making their own bird feeders, using seeds and lard, as well as creating a water station for the birds using recycled milk cartons. These activities not only supported their understanding of the natural world but also encouraged fine motor skills, creativity, and a sense of care for living things. We have also been focusing on developing the children’s counting skills through a variety of engaging activities. The children took part in tuff tray experiences where they explored counting different quantities using natural objects, loose parts, and themed resources. These activities supported early mathematical development by helping children recognise numbers, understand quantities, and build confidence in counting in a fun and interactive way.

Full Moons- In full moons we have been discussing different cultures and the celebrations from them. We celebrated St Patrick’s day through making different green themed arts and crafts and also practicing our irish dancing! We also discussed Holi, the festival of colour through lots of messy and colourful activities discussing the importance of each colour. We also spent time discussing healthy eating and the children have been helping us to cut the fruit for meal times. This went on to discussing tooth brushing as we celebrated world oral health day!
